Are some thieves planning a big holiday dinner?

Orlando police is investigating a burglary to a truck in which thousands of dollars' worth of meat was taken.

Investigators said that overnight Tuesday, someone broke into the rear cargo portion of a refrigerated truck that was at parked at a RaceTrac gas station on S. Semoran Boulevard.

Gary LaSalle, the truck's driver, said the thieves got inside the truck by cutting off the rear door latch and lock. Once inside, the thieves took 22 cases of lamb chops, which was valued at about $15,000.

The 23-year trucking veteran said he thinks more than one person was involved in the burglary.

"It had to be a couple of people because the meat weighed between 30 and 100 pounds," LaSalle said.

LaSalle said his first stop was in Plant City where the meat was supposed to be delivered to a grocery distribution center.

He hopes cameras at a nearby bank could help catch the thieves. He told News 13 that he thinks the thieves have "what they got coming to them."

The truck belonged to G&J Trucking Inc. and was hauling the meat for Strauss Brands Inc.

It’s not the first time it’s happened to LaSalle. His entire truck was stolen two years ago in Orlando. Inside of that one -- cheesecakes.

Someone must be hungry. I like lamb chops but $15k is a bit too much. Would be one crazy BBQ if they started cooking up hundreds and hundreds of lambchops.
