Asteroid_2012_DA14-580x536.jpg

Asteroid 2012 DA14 travelling at 17,450mph will come closer to our planet than many of our orbiting satellites on Friday. The asteroid is roughly half the size of a football field and will only miss our planet by 15 minutes.

Apparently if you live in Eastern Europe, Asia, or even Australia, this asteroid will be visible if you have a pair of binoculars. You might even be able to see a great view of it with a telescope.

Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com

You will have to check for the time is passes in your area to know where and when to look for it.

Scientists have compared this asteroid the devastation it could have caused to the meteor crater in Arizona and the Tunguska event in Siberia in 1908 which leveled everything within 820 square miles.

Needless to say, this was an extremely close call. Or at least it will be.

By 15 minutes, yikes.

Before December 21st 2012 would have been more dramatic though...:XZ:

Still kind of scary if you think about it, missing us by like a ball hair.

Anything is possible, in night springs.

Terrifying actually, that you can see the thing with a pair of binoculars. I know it probably will be a very hard catch but will try to acquire one just for shits and giggles.

Frankly I can't wait to see the pictures of it. I wonder if any of the ISS astronauts will be in the area when it passes by.

The weather channel ran some coverage on this event today. You can watch the video here...

VIDEO: Asteroid to Barely Miss Earth

For those of you from East Europe to Australia... DON'T FORGET! Tomorrow's your chance to see this thing. Would love to see any pictures you could get of it if possible. Not sure exactly how photogenic it will be, but you guys are the only ones who can find out.
