I'm having the hardest decision right now as to what kind of T.V. I should buy. My local Futureshop/Visions have 52" TV's which seems like a perfect size and the best I've seen are...

LG
Sony
Samsung

So my dilemma is... Sony has the Z Series with 120 HZ rate, or the V series with 60 HZ. So obviously I want the Z series (As I have a PS3, Blu-Ray movies and some kick ass games). So I ask what the Samsung equivilant to the Sony Z series is and he points me to a T.V costing about $1200 more. He says it has double the speed of the processor or something but yeah its prolly not worth $1200 more.

Then he points me to an LG television. He says it uses the same screen as Sony/Samsung.. has 120 HZ, and 1080P. AND he says it has better sound quality if I'm not picking up a home entertainment package. Only reason the Sony might cost more is because they can use their name to their advantage... Which makes sense as they usually do. He goes on to give me some spiel about how LG has had this recent push into the HDTV market and says the T.V. looks great and he hasn't had complaints about it.

So I go to the internet... I can't find anywhere that says LG/Sony/Samsung all use the same screens. And when I look up LG reviews.. I get about half the people saying they love it, and another half saying they had major issues. The common quote I found from like 4 different ppl on 4 different sites was "personally I don't touch LG" but they never really said why.

Anyone willing to help me out here as to what I should buy?
Is L.G. honestly that bad? And I'm talking about 45"+, I don't care if your 22" T.V didn't work.

You don't need anything else :yesyes:

Sony, Z-Series /120 HZ rate.

See bland statements like that is what makes me once again consider the L.G. T.V. Cuz the only bad stuff I've heard is on the internetz and while some of it was kind of specific... A lot of is was very general without a lot of backup.

I get the backup is "It's Sony" but I'm really not in the position to spend $500+ on the same quality T.V. if the sole reason is... "It's Sony"

Most of the companies use the same screens. It doesnt matter where or how the screen is made. Its the components behind the screens. The processors and how the circuits are set up etc. Electronics are just preference. Personally, if you are wanting performance with that set up, I wouldnt buy an LCD. But see thats just me. Where you may say LCD is better then Plasma, I would have to cordgially disagree. You just have to watch and check them all out and make the best decision based on what you like. Thats all you can do. If you want the best, know what the best numbers are, and buy something with the best numbers. If you dont want to spend the money, then odds are, your not getting the best.

I don't approve of burn-ins is my sole reason for not going plasma. My friend had one, he ended up buying an LCD and hasn't regretted it once.

I wouldn't recommend an LG only b/c I don't think the technology it has would be to your satisfaction

The Sony looks like a good option, but is it worth 1200 more? It will probably go down in price if you are willing to wait, but if you need it now then Sony would work. I have a Bravia 1080p 47 in, but I paid a lot when I should've chosen Samsung, which was a little cheaper, but the differences weren't noticable...plus samsung seems to be selling a lot of stuff on TV's and they have good value...I go with a Samsung...If you can get an LCD...if you live in a higher elevation def get an LCD b/c plasma won't help you...Finally, LCD b/c if you are a gamer it won't burnout your tv as quickly
