10 Terrible Habits of WWE Commentators

10.) Selling too many things... Specially during matches.
9.) Saxton being the butt-end of too many jokes - It is old.
8.) Relying too much on catchphrases - You all know them...
7.) Holding Rene Young back - She should be commentating.
6.) Stop having fun... They go too off-topic and it isn't entertaining.
5.) Prepared sound bytes for Cole - having him say things to make "the moment"... uggg...
4.) Face/heel of commentators is all off - Heel commentators burying heels, faces disregarding faces.
3.) Too many cooks - a pair is good, 3's a crowd, 4 is just too many.
2.) Special guest commentators - most wrestlers suck at it (aside from KO, Punk, and Ambrose).

And the lack of ACTUALLY calling a match. That annoys me a LOT!

Cruiserweight Classic was awesome because they called the match and the moves and stuff, not talk about Roman Reigns while another match was going on or some random arbid shit.

Ya know... I didn't like Jerry much but him and JR were fantastic together and both made Cole tolerable.

Most of them are bad because Vince is stil, to this day, the master puppitier... which is crazy to me. Why hire these professional commentators if you literally tell them word for word what to say.

And they do a lot of the cheesy Shit because it's marketable. Although I hate it when Cole yells "superman punch" every time reigns does one... it appeals to kids and gets attention for the casual fan at home. Makes reigns sound impactful. To the hardcore fan, we see through the bs, but it makes sense as to why they do. They use to make everything seem larger than life.

But I do hate it when they get completely off topic. Occasionally, there's some funny playful banter going around. But overall it sucks. And, Byron is terrible at being a bad guy commentator. It feels so scripted and fake that it's awful.

I honestly think the best line up would be:

Tom Phillips, Mauro Ranallo & Corey Graves with Renee Young
swapping out with Philips for the women's and mixed tag matches...

Now...I will admit JBL is annoying as hell...but...well...without him

Otunga is harmless I guess...but so dull and boring...can someone tell
me why he became an announcer? Shouldn't he be doing lawyer stuff?

It just goes to show how good Mauro is seeing as he has to sit between
John O'Clock & Otunga Time...and he still sounds amazing.

Rumor is Michael Cole might be moving into a behind-the-scenes role
with Mauro moved to RAW and Tom Phillips taking Mauro's SmackDown
spot.

The commentators need a little bit of freedom, a little space to breathe, instead of having someone constantly yelling in their ear.

People say things like "Cole sucks!" all the time. And yeah, I often find him and the rest of the crew unbearable on RAW/PPVs, too.

But, when Cole's left to his own devices, he's very good. See: Beast in the East and WWE UKCT.

Man, Vince's tendency to micromanage everything is really annoying sometimes.

What they really need to do is let the commentators flow. This man right here said it beautifully:

People like JBL and Graves really, really need to start tuning up the heel work if they're going to be heel commentators. You can't have a tweener commentator for each show, without a decent heel commentator.
The wrestler themselves do most of the work for their character but at the end of the day, how the commentators portray them will affect how we portray them. Having no fully heel commentator that the average fan can't stand won't do anything for the heel in the ring. They're meant to support the heels, not support them one day and hate their choices/decisions the next. The team really needs some work.

Also, please Smackdown go back to three commentators. Four commentators doesn't help at all, and Phillips could EASILY replace Otunga. I'd love to see JBL become that old heel commentator that he was, along with Corey shining on RAW as their heel. It adds story, and depth at the end of the day.
