After tapping Justin Lin as the latest director to tackle the Jason Bourne franchise, Universal has now hired Andrew Baldwin to pen the next untitled Bourne pic, which stars Jeremy Renner.
Plot details are unknown at this time – other than it would follow Renner’s Aaron Cross, who was trained in the same super-spy program that Matt Damon’s Bourne went through before also being double-crossed.
U had set Anthony Peckham to write the latest draft, but the studio and the director switched mindsets after Lin was attached, deciding to look at scribes who better fit Lin’s vision for the franchise.
Baldwin is a rising star among young screenwriters. He has already penned “The Outsider†and “Bastille Day†starring Idris Elba, both of which are still in the development stages.
Lin, Frank Marshall, Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner will produce the pic, which is set to bow Aug. 14, 2015.
Baldwin is repped by CAA and Anonymous Content.
I hope this gets a green light since I thought Renner killed the first one of the spin off without Damon.
