    Box Office Update

They couldn't do much worse, I haven't really found this year to be all too memorable for movies, so here's hoping stuff like Birdman and Foxcatcher are as good as the critics are saying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Box Office Update

It just seemed so blah to me from the trailer. The line "they call you the November Man because after you leave nothing lives" made me think the script was written by a Grade 7 student.

    Box Office Update

LOL at Pierce Brosnan's "geriatric James Bond" movie tanking.

    Box Office Update

When was the last time a movie that didn't debut at number one went on to reach that spot the following week? That can't have happened a lot.

The hell you say! I want a Lincoln Log movie damn it, or at the very least, a log movie... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjzBpJ1XYwc

    Box Office Update

Not the full update for the week but Thor looks like it's chugging along nicely....

    Box Office Update

Man, that Instructions Not Included movie keeps chugging away. This week it only had the second-highest per theatre average (behind Insidious 2 obvs) and has managed to pull in over $26 million playing in less than a third of the theatres that most movies do. That's pretty damn remarkable.

    Box Office Update

Was just skimming the Friday results from Box Office Mojo and it appears my prediction of One Direction winning this weekend will be coming true. As of last night's grosses, it had close to $9 million while the next closest film, The Butler, had just over $3 million. Goddamn boy bands...

    Box Office Update

Honestly, the reason Kick Ass 2 isn't doing well is because people are burned out on comic book movies right now. We've already seen three huge ones released this year (Iron Man 3, Man of Steel, The Wolverine) with Thor's sequel still to come. I think a lot of people who may have gone to see...

    Box Office Update

You're Next didn't do as well as The Purge or The Conjuring, but this is usually a bad time for horror movies. Nice to see The Butler still churning out good numbers. As I've said before, I may hate Oprah, but I love Lee Daniels and am glad to see him have another successful film. Also, I...

    Box Office Update

In regards to The Butler, I don't see how a movie spanning multiple Presidents with a cast like the one it has looks boring. Sure Oprah's in it and that sucks, but Daniels other two movies (Precious, The Paperboy) were both really good. I see no reason why The Butler won't be as well.

    Box Office Update

At $1.18 billion worldwide, Iron Man 3 is now the 5th highest grossing film of all time. RDJ is serious box office right now. It also has the top opening of the year at a whopping $174 million. I don't think Man of Steel is going to come close to that and it may be the film with the highest...

    Box Office Update

Actually, the gross this weekend has little to do with the quality of the film. Universal has marketed and milked the concept so well it's virtually impossible for it not to do huge business even if it sucks ass. My favourite part of that article was this line in regards to The Hangover...

    Box Office Update

The last movie made $86 million and change on its first weekend so its about a $12 million jump but the holiday release in the US is probably another reason it did so well. Profits are up across the board though, the top 5 movies this week made almost 29% more money than last years did.

    Box Office Update

I doubt he's getting points on his contract, probably just a flat fee for starring in the films. Very few people actually get back loaded contracts in Hollywood...why would the studio be willing to part with potentially way more money if they don't have to? Also, only the big draw usually has...

    Box Office Update

They're not kidding about 42 getting word of mouth advertising, I've already spoken to three people this morning who recommended it. I might try and check it out but I've still got to see The Place Beyond the Pines first. It's interesting to note that it actually grossed $7,938 per theatre...

    Box Office Update

Even if Jack the Giant Slayer is amazing, its going to have a hard time making back its $200 million budget.

Me too. This one doesn't look amazing, but I'm sure it will be a fun time at the theatre. Sent from my BlackBerry 9900 using Tapatalk

    Box Office Update

Stallone's movie was good despite the box office, but it'll play just as well at home. I'll wait for home for Hansel and Gretel as well, it's only playing in 3D up here and I've already done my 3D for the year with Texas Chainsaw. That Warm Bodies movie is doing pretty well considering...

    Box Office Update

No big shock about Identity Thief, but it scares me that people would be willing to pay money to see it. Might check out Side Effects now that I've had a chance to read some positive reviews.
