  1. Favourite Directors?

Yeah, it was, actually. But I found Shutter Island (the book) pretty poorly written, although engaging. So in that case I'd take the movie over the book. But it's usually the other way round (another example of movie > book is About A Boy, where the ending is much less preposterous in the film...
  2. Favourite Directors?

For me, what threw me off was that appalling animatronic, and the fact that, well, there's no real plot, is there? It's 90 minutes of WTF. If any of you watches Nostalgia Critic, Eraserhead is basically a Big Lipped Alligator Movie. Also, Fallen Angel: sorry for the confusion. Blame it on...
  3. Favourite Directors?

    Oh yeah Dune. :lmao
  4. Favourite Directors?

Except the first half of Full Metal Jacket is one of the most affecting pieces of cinema ever made.
  5. Favourite Directors?

Don't tell him to watch Mullholland Drive! He'll be confused forever! And whatever you do, DO NOT WATCH ERASERHEAD! Unless you want to waste 90 minutes and be turned off Lynch forever. Been meaning to watch Shallow Grave, but the Ewan McGregor character really puts me off each time.
  6. Favourite Directors?

    They're not graphic but they're mentally/emotionally taxing.
  7. Favourite Directors?

Clockwork Orange IS good, but you need a strong stomach (for FMJ as well, come to think about it). 2001 is also recommended viewing, if only for its relevance in movie history (never saw it myself, but definitely plan to). Spielberg's recent Adventures of Tintin was a return to form...
  8. Favourite Directors?

Don't you mean USED TO BE great?! *Cough* RuinedArtificialIntelligencewithaliensandahappyending! *cough* Also, from Danny Boyle, do watch The Beach. Give 127 Hours a pass. From Kubrick, you owe it to yourself to see Full Metal Jacket.
  9. Favourite Directors?

Basterds was fucking awesome. Jackie Brown was very strong as well. Pulp Fiction was OK, although I do think it's overrated. Reservoir Dogs is DEFINITELY overrated. Have yet to watch Kill Bill (I know, I know...). True Romance was OK as well.
  10. Favourite Directors?

Haven't seen Dark Shadows, missed it at our local cinema here. But do want to see it. Only movie of his I've seen and not liked was Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.
  11. Favourite Directors?

Mine: - Tim Burton (can do no wrong, and if you say Pee Wee's Big Adventure, I CAN'T HEAR YOUUUUU...!!!) - Danny Boyle - F. F. Coppolla - Kevin Smith These are the ones I go out of my way to see movies by.
