    For what it’s worth, I’m listening to Sirius Speedway (as I do most days at 3 EST), and Dave Moody says he can’t see any world in which Cindric gets punished for what happened.

    Oh I’m sure there are some in that camp. I just think the ones who make up a crowd loud enough to be heard on TV are the ones doing what NASCAR fans do: hate the young successful guy until he becomes an older successful guy.

    Nah. This is just how NASCAR has always worked. Back in his early days, everybody hated Dale Sr. He was the young cocky guy who beat their old guys. Before him, people hated Darrell Waltrip.     They say it’s because the brakes cool on the long straightaways and then heat up in these sharp curves. You knew the layout of this fucking track. NASCAR has always been more reactionary than proactive, and it looks like it’ll be the case again.
