I say it all the time, the people who served in WW2 have to be rolling in their graves seeing the blatant appeals to fascism we're currently seeing, but so many people today view it as "Patriotism" rather than what it actually is.

At the end of the day I think people are just ignorant to how people can collectively be discontent, selfish, and looking out for their own interests when it comes to electing someone.

I think it does have a lot to do with American culture finally admitting that what they did to the Natives was horrendous and starting to make reparations towards that period of time, and a lot of modern historians not being outright racist towards Native Americans. :draper2
But heavily agree with this. I don't even care that he was popular compared to Adams and Clay, he was arguably a worst decision than either guy. Nobody should ever be celebrating a genocidal asshole notorious for being a massive dickhead to everyone around him, including Northern white people.
As an aside, I highly recommend people watch Once Upon a Time in America at least once, it's probably Leone's most beautifully shot film, and Morricone's best soundtrack, bar-fucking-none.
