They medically disqualify Devon, and then they look the other way when it happens in a legally "different" promotion

Why would WWE give a fuck about TNA doing that? TNA is not WWE. They are 2 separate companies

I know it is the common misconception here that WWE owns TNA Wrestling. They do not. TNA is not owned by WWE. They make their own decisions

The only thing WWE did was have Bubba and D-Von in the front row at NXTNA Showdown. Didn't get physical or anything. They've been in the crowd for other events too. Like SummerSlam.

If TNA made their own decisions Slater would have pinned Je'Von
which has nothing to do with D-Von not being allowed to compete in WWE

Dudleys/Hardys was a TNA match featuring 4 people contracted to perform with TNA. WWE has fuck all to do with it.

It's getting fucking obnoxious the constant shitting on WWE for anything. I agree about the Je'Von/Slater finish. Should have had a clean finish. But D-Von not being cleared by WWE medical yet competing in TNA isn't something to shit on WWE for. They are not profiting off the match. At all.

Pretty massive deal when they came to TNA and were always a top team, occasionally mingling with the main event. Ray and Devon both had their greatest singles runs in TNA as well. I'm sure a WWE retirement would have still been their preference but safe to assume, WWE wasn't trying to host that shit.
That Bully Ray run was great, one of my fondest memories from TNA, he was so easy to hate on. I'm one of the few people who also enjoyed the Aces and Eights thing. As for Devon, I remember him as the TV champion beating the whole midcard for months while being pretty much directionless, he was booked strong but I didn't enjoy that run.

But yeah I don't believe I ever saw them teaming up in TNA.

Wasn't the match for the TNA and NXT titles though? WWE is going to be involved in the booking of a match for one of their titles.

I mean they were definitely like "we're not booking this shit for liability reasons but y'all do your thing" which honestly is not nefarious at all in my opinion. Everyone in the match was a willing participant, TNA and The Hardyz no doubt pushed hard for this, and WWE excluded themselves to protect their interests which is completely understandable.

Well if you were curious, their tag run peaked with this match.

I was thinking about the Slater/Evans finish today and I’m where I was with it in the moment. I don’t actually care that they did that finish for me…because for one thing I think time limit draw is a finish…and a good one given the two guys in the ring. They obviously did the restart just so they could deliver a real nonfinish…which does suck…but again not for me. It didn’t impair my enjoyment of the match because I got over twenty minutes of two of the most exciting young wrestlers on the planet going all out and having a classic.

but I feel bad for them. Because that’s what everyone should be talking about today. That these guys are 21, are incredible, and had a match you need to see. That’s who I feel bad for. Just Evans and Slater. Because they’re so unbelievably good and they made their moment count and no one is leading with that because of the finish.

in the context of the show…they had two massive feel good moments after it with the Hardys/Dudley‘s last match that had the crowd rabid and Santana winning clean as a sheet. So they knew when they laid the show out they were going to get that reaction. Which is why they tried to get the heat on Darkstate so they could at least try to put it somewhere useful. But that goes back to the real problem. People should be talking about the two kids who hit a home run…not Darkstate…even if the finish worked.

Anyway…run it back on an NXT PLE where even more people will see it and do a finish. Because two things that I am sure of…they will deliver again and people want that finish.
