The Rock was a bigger draw than Stone Cold Steve Austin in 1999 and was outdrawing him the entire year from the very start of the year, here are their segments.

The narrative that Rock didn’t even get over until Austin left is debunked, not only was he already over an entire year before Austin left in November 1999, but had surpassed him at the end of 1998 where he was outdrawing him Entering 1999.

Austin could not draw more than Rock from January - November of 1999.

Even going forward on the road to Summerslam 1998, Rock outdrew Austin several times despite not being in title picture.

Coulda been. I was entertained by both a ton in '99 though and glad we got both at the top of their game. Don't really care which one did better business-wise way back then tbh

1999 was Austin’s peak character wise, I’m just pointing out and refuting the revisionist history of Austin being bigger than Rock in 1999 or the idea that Rock didn’t become top guy until November, when in reality he entered the year top guy.

Personally, I enjoyed Austin more that year, but it’s undeniable the entire year Rock was the most popular wrestler in the entire industry

Speaking of big draws, I think my 1998 re-booking of Steve Austin was way better than real life. :side:

I actually think Austin's character peak was '98. Still love '99 feuding with Vince and his 01 year is one of my absolute favorites in-ring but '98 Austin is just perfect to me and what I imagine when I think Attitude Era.

Yeah, I think '98 is peak Austin whereas 2000 is Peak Rock. 1999 was just both of them at the top of their game.

Why care about "the narrative"? Pretty sure Rock has lapped Austin a few times in terms of.being a draw nowadays. ....anyone clinging to ONE year is clearly biased or mental.

Because the narrative is that Austin was bigger than Rock DURING the Attitude era And that Rock didn’t become the guy until Austin left in November of 1999. That he became a draw after Austin or in Hollywood.

That narrative is false and has no basis in reality, Rock was outdrawing Austin Entering 1999, he was already the biggest draw in pro wrestling.

It’s used to claim Austin as top draw of The Attitude era, when in reality The Rock was the top draw of the Attitude era, of the late 1990’s/early 2000’s wrestling boom period that spanned from 1998-2002

Every single number and metric shows that from November of 1998-March 2002, The Rock was a bigger draw than Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock was the face of the Attitude era

To be fair though, I don't think anyone really cares who was bigger on here. Both being awesome is what matters to me. :kawhi

That’s because Landos and Santo weren’t.

Rock was the biggest draw in the history of professional wrestling, even adjusted for inflation, no one drew more money than he did from 1998-2002. Not Hogan, not Austin, not Cena.

Austin was the face of AE , you have you're opinion , I have mine. Plus also did they dawing actually out money in you're pocket? So I really don't get why fans get so into this debate makes not a ounce of sense , just enjoyed the greatest time in wrestling and that's it,

Both were great , have agoo day. As I won't reply.

Off topic, but nah, Rock was outdrawing Austin entering 1999, Rock was face of the Attitude era.
