They're pretty generic tbh. (Paramore that is.) I've heard the same style of music done by better people with lyrics that didn't sound like they were written by Hallmark.

You're kinda right as well. Metallica on wiki is defined as Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal, Hard Rock & Speed Metal. But, they are considered as founders of Thrash along with Slayer, Megadeth & Anthrax.

For me, metal is more about the music. I find myself listening to massive riffs, massive solos and double peddling drums more then I do the lyrics.

CT, you are sorely mistaken on what metal is. Granted Parkway Drive is a band in a metal subgenre called metalcore (and a shitty one at that...the band), metal isn't classified as just anything with screaming (Janis Joplin certainly isn't metal).

Hard Rock is like watered down metal. It's heavy (to an extent) but it is usually very basic (and boring might I add) and commercial.
