It feels like with the Trump assassinator also leaning right that there’s some kind of growing movement that wants to take some kind of responsibility or accountability for removing the MAGA element or something. It’s like I was saying before how the Never Trumpers (conservatives against MAGA) are also very largely responsible for language that they’re using that are inciting these acts of violence recently. And I understand why you’d push back on the more extreme elements from within to show that we don’t support it but man there has gotta be a better way.

it’s not even that complicated. Conservative media plays to and preys upon a ven diagram of dangerous elements. Gun nuts, the untreated mentally unstable, people whose ideology is simply hating people who aren’t like them in some way, the stupid…the kinds of people who will shoot first because asking questions isn’t a part of their deal. The most dangerous person to a conservative media member or politician is, and always will be, another conservative who thinks you’ve stepped out of line in some way.

I think we’re missing the point focusing on whether or not the shooter was a liberal or conservative. No different than when the right foolishly jumped to judgments to declare war on all liberals there’s no point in also trying to then turn around and do the same thing in the other direction. Also, this guy didn’t shoot Charlie specifically because he broke on one or more conservative takes. He was fairly anti-fascist from what we’re learning, which has been both a liberal and a Never-Trumper narrative talking point surrounding Trump and MAGA specifically from both camps. The rhetoric needs to be cooled in general and not blaming one side or the other.
