Now i know i'm new here, still on my first posts and all but i always ask this question.... WHY do so many people mark out so hard over punk... ive been watching wrestling for almost my whole life about 18 years and ive watched ALOT of stuff that was before my time and I hope I know the difference between what looks good and what doesn't in the ring... and I have not seen a single thing from Punk to show me that he is all he's hyped up to be....

his mic skills are lacking.
he makes at least 5 mistakes every match (notable)
9times/10 his finisher looks fake
and i just dont get it...

could someone please let me know whats so special about this guy?

I've been watching wrestling for 23-24 years....and I agree. But, at the same time...shit back in the day was so obviously child oriented fake ass shit...the same way it is now.......it's the mainstream way really. Shamefull garbage.

Punk is praised so much for a few reasons.

1, he exhibits the passion towards the wrestling business to be a role model for anyone closely related to it, including fans.

2, he has the balls to stand up for what he believes in even if it means his job. When he first got to WWE there were rumors that a lot of people were against him because they took his decline to go get beers as an insult. He also criticized booking which killed his initial push.

3, He has a tattoo on his left hand that says "No gimmicks needed" which pretty much sums up his views on the wrestling business, which I'm sure a lot of people agree with.

4, In my case, I'm straightedge and love Pepsi (This started when I was in junior high for the most part (which was 98, 99) so it has nothing to do with him), so I relate to him that much more, and I'm sure other people do as well.

5, He's funny.

From what I see a lot of Punk's following is from respect. He's not the greatest in any category but the respect the fans and the people in the wrestling business have for him makes up for it.

He's fresh, he's straight edge, so you know he will never get busted for a drug policy violation. That also gives him stability and reliability, he is what should be WWE's poster boy for a clean, working drug testing policy. His promos when given the opportunity cater to the teenage to young adult audience, since he is new age and makes it cool to actually not do drugs. He relates to just about every person whether they are a nerd, an athlete, a punk goth or morally conscious person. I would go so far as to even say he's one of my personal heroes for what he does.

When given the opportunity to shine on his own without restrictions to his moveset, he knows how to work a match, and has had classics with Samoa Joe in exess of 60 minute matches that we saw between guys like Flair, Harley Race and others.

Essentially, the guy can work, even if you don't see it in the WWE. He is also promo gold to a certain niche of audience, and has the right message that this industry needs when it comes to training and image of what wrestlers nowadays should be.

/end rave

I believe all three points are inaccurate, but anyway.

You just dislike the guy for no reason. You're trying to back it up, but you're coming up with shit.

Most finishers in WWE look like shit. Punk's is actually one of the more real looking. His mic skills are fine, he knows how to connect with a crowd better than most. And finally, I highly doubt he fucks up five times a match. Everyone fucks up once or twice a match, whether it's noticable or not. But I think you're just trying to start a shit argument here.

Like I said in the other thread, in a more polite and respectful manner than my fellow James here, you have no argument. lol

*nods nods* and your opinion of Punk is just based off of lies and misinformation from your exposure to him in the WWE. Understandable.

Sweet Chin Music misses the guy like half the time. So does Orton's head kick. So your argument is that lariats and kicks are more realistic at knocking a guy out then bringing him head first down onto a knee? Lol.

Blind hate is fun, imo.

If you're going to use examples, use good ones in the future plz.
