Night 1 of WrestleMania definitely lived up to the hype I was thoroughly entertained

Hell In A Cell was exactly that...Hell...and it was brutal inside Satan's structure. It looks like Aleister Black whatever WrestleMania undefeated streak he was about to have...Rollins just ended that inside Hell In a Cell

But I can definitely see Black disappearing after losing in the Cell and we don't see him for a while. Much like Undertaker, Black will disappear into the darkness for a bit and we won't see him for a few months at best.

Rollins I can see him setting his sights back on the WWE Universal Championship but even if he does that, he will have to deal with The Bloodline specifically our Tribal Chief Roman Reigns especially if Roman retains

Xavier Woods proving he is not a weak link in The New Day as he becomes WWE Cruiserweight Champion dethroning Lio Rush of The Hurt Business...I really love this for Woods because he hasn't won singles gold and he finally gets it done here at WrestleMania on Night 1 but will his New Day brethren also walk out with gold? Will New Day hold all the gold or will The Hurt Business recover here on Night 1?

Drew McIntyre also beating Tommaso Ciampa on Night 1...it begs the question of where these 2 go from here? Does Drew set his sights back on the WWE Championship now that Big E is champion? Or how about Ciampa, does he too target Big E?

Love Beth Phoenix's segment with a pregnant Becky Lynch

Hurt Business in their locker room I would hate to be a fly on the ointment especially in that room after Lio Rush just lost their first bit of gold...I wonder if because of that the other guys turn on him and he gets kicked out of the group?

Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott...we know the history here because of The Riott Squad and they are going at it here tonight at WrestleMania on Night 1 in the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Beth Phoenix gets her revenge not only here at WrestleMania by beating Natalya but she makes her tap out...how many people can make The Queen of Harts tap out? But I wonder what is next for Beth after this? Does she go back into retirement? What happens to Natalya now? Does she get kicked out of the MMA Horsewomen now too?

But I love the WrestleMania entrances for people on Night 1 though...with people getting specific special entrances

Bad Bunny...biggest pop of the night and people singing his theme song and Priest his 1st Mania too...they beat Logan Paul in his 1st Mania as well as Noam Dar in the Tag Team Match...Bunny getting the decisive pin as he pins Dar...that protects Paul in a sense because he wasn't pinned and Dar was. Plus it's a Tag Team Match and Logan in singles competition still undefeated last I checked.

The Usos doing their job in retaining the WWE Tag Team Championship...making sure it stays within The Bloodline as they did it by hook or by crook with no help from Roman or Jacob or Naomi or Tamina...they got it done themselves even if by using heelish tactics to retain but will their cousins also be holding gold? Will Jacob become WWE United States Champion or will Roman retain the WWE Universal Championship and will Roman unveil his Special Counsel on Night 2?

- Ember Moon wins the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match winning the briefcase becoming Ms Money in the Bank? Her ticket back to the main event...this is her ticket back to becoming WWE Women's Champion or WWE Women's Universal Champion. But it begs the question of which Champion does she cash in on? Does she cash in on Asuka or on Tay Conti to become WWE Women's Champion? Or does she move brands to RAW and she cashes in on Shayna Baszler or on Rhea Ripley to become WWE Women's Universal Champion? Or the better question is when does she cash in? Does she do it tonight or tomorrow night on Night 2? Or does she wait and pick her spot because she can cash in whenever she wants it any time over the next year

Kofi Kingston becomes the new WWE Intercontinental Champion dethroning Swerve Strickland of the WWE Intercontinental Championship...Kofi becomes a 5 time WWE Intercontinental Champion in the process but now that Swerve is no longer IC Champion...could he be on the fast track to become World Champion here in WWE? But now that both Kofi & Woods are Champions here on Night 1 winning their respective championship matches...it is all up to Big E who is cashing in his Money in the Bank Ladder Match briefcase that he won at last year's Mania and cashing it in here tonight on WWE Champion Samoa Joe...could Big E be making a mistake here? He could very well cash in and lose

WWE Women's Championship match...Tay Conti in perhaps the upset of the year in this Diary she becomes the new WWE Women's Champion by dethroning Asuka who was so dominant but let's be real here...if it hadn't been for Bianca Belair, Tay would not be here as WWE Women's Champion. Ember Moon tried to cash in mid match pulling a Rollins to make it a Triple Threat but Belair stops her from doing so. I wonder if Ember returns the favor and costs Belair her Tag Team Match with Vanessa Hudgens as they take on House of Couture tomorrow on Night 2 as payback?

Big E...here I thought that he would cash in and fail but he becomes WWE Champion in the main event of Night 1 dethroning Samoa Joe who has been nothing short of dominant in his reign beating big name after big name but Big E is the one to beat him...now The New Day they all walk out with gold around their waist to end Night 1 and what an emotional heartfelt scene to cap off Night 1 as they all celebrate together...been a long time coming

I don’t do this to often on this scale anymore, but it’s Mania so what the hell, right? Although admittedly, not sure night 2 will get the same treatment lol.

I’m not the biggest fan of the opener here. Feel like the opening match is about getting the fans going, fast paced, something to pump the fans up but not exhaust them. It’s about giving them energy for the rest of the night. Unfortunately, I think exhausting the fans is exactly what a 25 minute blood fest would do. Match positioning on the show aside, I enjoyed the match. A lot of blood, a lot of weapons, really ticked the box for HIAC, although maybe we could have had more actual cell spots, as opposed to just other weapons in the cell. I loved the brutality of Seth using the broken kendo stick to stab Black, by the way. A little shocked Seth got the win here, I just assumed Black would get revenge. No issues though, this was a good match, just positioning was weird for me.

Nice moment with Becky appearing to give Becky a pep talk. Fits in with the storyline well.

The full stop on a really well told story here with Xavier Woods finally capturing a singles title. The way you’ve built this over time has been great. The match itself was solid, with Woods walking the ropes surely looking impressive at the end. I am intrigued by the handshake from Rush and what his buddies think about that, but this was solid.

Typical generic Usos promo here tonight which is fine to promote their match later. I do love that you’ve given them real high calibre, big name opponents in Edge and Rey.

Honestly, I’m dubbing this next one ‘the celebrity match’, and it’s probably the one I was least looking forward to for the night. With that being said, I thought you structured this match as well as you probably good. Bunny can’t look like an equal so Priest softens the opponents early and then Bunny gets his moments, before being isolated. Then Priest cleans up at the end, and Bunny gets a few high spots to look ultra impressive. I was maybe expecting a huge spot from Paul to which seemingly just didn’t come which was unexpected. Solid match though, but I’m hoping that’s the end of this.

Enjoyed the fiery start to Beth/Natalya because that’s exactly the fury Beth should have after being betrayed by her best friend. The carnage on the outside was good stuff, and then it made sense to use Shafir for Nattie to be able to gain the advantage. Action was solid enough throughout, and I’m happy Beth got one back on Shafir towards the end. Beth refusing to just go for the pinfall, and instead locking in the Double Armed Chicken Wing (think that’s what it's called) was a nice way to further put over Beth’s thirst for revenge. Nice work.

Conversation between Liv and Ruby was fine playing on their history and VERY recent history. It’ll be interesting to see whether they do get caught in the moment and team together tonight.

MITB match was a lot of fun. Plenty of the usual spots and some inventive stuff which works well. As opposed to it just being a spot fest, the added psychology of Nia and Piper being bases for everybody to work off, Bloodline alliance and Liv/Ruby stuff really made this feel a lot better. Good stuff throughout, and was noticeable that the finishing run was really amped up with spot after spot. I thought Ember was on a downward slide so confused by the result, but I also love her as a wrestler and don’t mind the result as well. Good stuff.

State of the Union from The New Day promoting their matches still to come was fine.

Issues with The Hurt Business, especially with Lio Rush seemingly showing a new, babyface attitude. MVP trying to get things back on track here, intrigued to see how this night pans out for them.

The IC Title match, whilst continuing to tell the story of the decline of The Hurt Business (tonight), didn’t quite hit for me. The New Day’s successful night continues which is fine, but this match just didn’t have any real substance to it. The action was fine, sure, some impressive moves and whatever, but it literally just felt like I was reading moves back and forth with no rhyme or no reason. No focus in terms of offense, no real in match story. Just felt a little dull after some of the great psychology you’ve utilised in your previous matches.

LOVE Ember Moon interrupting Conti to tease the cash in. MITB, for as formulaic and restrictive as it can be, it can also be a lot of fun.

I don’t want to start on a negative so I will say I enjoyed the tag title match, and I’ll get to the positives soon enough. With that being said, I HATED the start. I get the justification of Rey keeping his cool to win and avenge Dom, I can live with that. But then for him to slide through Jey’s legs and laugh at him like everything’s perfectly fine really irked me. Why are you trying to be cocky and get into somebody’s head when avenging your son? It felt like to much for me. That’s the negatives out of the way. I LOVE the booking of this as The Usos win as the real team. I also feel that Edge and Rey are two HUGE names, so there’s some added value to the champs winning this one. There was one thing missing which would have put Usos over as a GOAT level tag team. I would have loved if you had Rey and Edge bust out some moves from their 2002 run as a tag team, but then Usos had them scouted because they are THAT well prepared. Still thought, this was really good with The Usos team work really shining through, which was the most impressive and smartest thing to do. Good match.

Ciampa/Drew was solid. I was initially going to criticise when Ciampa rolled out the ring to stall, feeling like we don’t need to see that tactic multiple times in one night and Nattie had already done that. I guess Drew got the action going right away though, which was different to the last one, and Ciampa rolling out of the ring here was a reoccurring theme so I can live with it. The story here was the opportunistic Hangman DDT which changed the match, and then Ciampa’s cheating throughout. That coming full circle with Drew getting a low blow to set up The Claymore was a fun way to go about it. I enjoyed it.

Womens Title match was good for the most part but wasn’t perfect. I’ll start with the story, the idea of Tay improving over the past three months because she knows what she needs to defeat Asuka now is a great underdog story. You’ve executed that really well. I loved the psychology here in the early stages, with Asuka in control but every time she got to cocky, Conti would show she’s here to play for keeps. It was a good dynamic, until Asuka got ultra serious and just started to beat her up. The Ember appearance was fine, but Belair getting entrance music and all that jazz to beat up somebody at ringside just felt like to much of a distraction from the match for me. This leads me to the end of the match, I didn’t like it. The underdog fighting hard to get the win is fantastic, but Tay hulking up and no selling because she’s mad Asuka used her move is a bit meh for me. Makes me groan as a fan of Tay and it does nothing for Asuka either. A down ending to what was otherwise a really good piece of business.

The main event was exactly that and certainly delivered. Just two big men throwing blows at each other for the most part. Felt like bomb after bomb was being dropped here, with the added story of whether Big E was outmatched after already losing to Joe previously (in essence, I just realised very similar to the previous match). The big Spears from Big E to turn things around were some great spots, and I enjoyed the back and forth ending, with Big E suffering through the Coquina Clutch and still finding a way to accomplish the dream. Strong ending to the show.

Fun celebration stuff with The New Day all having titles to end night one.

Thank you for the feedback as always :). Reason I went with Hell in a Cell to start the show is I wanted a major match to start and I didn't want the MITB to start the show here. Honestly in hindsight I probs should have gone with Rush vs Woods here to start the show. Black losing was done for a reason and will have a big impact going into the next year (if I ever book it).

Yeah in hindsight the Rey spot and laughing was a mistake, I was trying to play it as him outsmarting them but yeah he shouldn't be laughing as he gets revenge for his son. So originally when planning out year 2, I was going to have a different heel win the Money in the Bank briefcase (It was going to be Naomi ironically who just won it in real life) but Athena's real life work, made me pick her for this spot once I knew I was turning heel post-Summerslam.

Yeah the ending I could have wrote better as was not meant to come off as hulking up. I went for the music hitting to give Belair a big moment on night 1 and also to set up plans with her and Moon going into year 3. Kofi's win was the one I found the hardest to book well as it had the least story and was mostly there to give us the moment at the end of the show plus I wanted to protect Swerve who I have major plans for going into the 2nd year.

Will deffo take some of this on board when writing the rest of night 2 (currently on the 3rd match on the show)

Predictions contest:
Stojy: 11/20
Dubb: 10/20
Tg11: 8/20
RDT: 5/20

Predict the winners: Big E, Conti, Kofi, Usos, Rush, Rollins, Beth, McIntyre, Moon, AR Fox (1 each)
Predict the shortest match: Bad Bunny and Damian Priest vs Dar and Logan Paul (9:25) (2 points)
Predict the longest match: HIAC (25:12) (2 points)
Who will get the winning fall on who in the tag team matches: Bad Bunny on Dar, Jimmy on Edge (1 point for each right answer)
And who is the mystery entrant in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal: Elias (2 points)

News update:

Ariya Daiviari is out for 7 months with a bicep injury

In the middle of the Andre the Giant Battle Royal a few fans noticed Daivari clutching his ribs partway through the match and being quickly tossed out. Whilst there were no major plans for him to go much longer, he was tossed out of the ring early due to the pain he was in. Ariya will now be out of action for the next 7 months due to this injury, a low to the Cruiserweight division on Raw.

Asuka out of action for 3 months due to an eye injury

Asuka lost her WWE Women’s title in a huge upset at WrestleMania 37 and it looks like it worked out well for WWE, as Asuka picked up an eye injury during the match. Asuka is expected to take 3 months off TV for the time being due to this, which means she will likely miss the draft but will be back in time for Summerslam.

Mod note: Part of the reason why I made the call to switch the title is due to Asuka getting an EWR injury. I was considering the title switch before this but this sealed it as otherwise I would have had to vacate another Women’s title.

WrestleMania 37 Night 2 Recap:

Men’s Universal title match:

Roman Reigns © vs Daniel Bryan

Both Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan walked into WrestleMania 36 as champions. Still, they both walked out of the show without gold around their waist. The Miz would defeat Daniel Bryan for the Intercontinental title whilst Drew McIntyre defeated Roman Reigns to win the WWE title. Each man would react to the loss differently; Roman would spiral further into darkness, while Bryan would use the loss to regain his sense and return to the man he used to be.

Bryan would even end up forming a sort of alliance with The Miz and show respect to his former rival as they ended up feuding with Miz’s former friend John Morrison and Bryan’s former ally Erick Rowan. Roman would lose inside Hell in a Cell to Drew McIntyre and then spend the rest of the summer getting his family on his side, forming the Bloodline with The Usos, Jacob Fatu, Naomi and Tamina! Roman thought it would take a while to get back into title contention but became Universal Champion at Roadblock.

Walking out of the Elimination Chamber with the Universal title put Roman Reigns in the sights of the 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble winner Daniel Bryan. The ever-popular fan favorite won the match starting from number 1 and broke the record for the longest time ever in the match. The two men would come face to face the Smackdown after Roadblock with Roman making it clear he hated Daniel Bryan due to the love he got from the fans, feeling that love should have been his.

Daniel Bryan countered back saying the fans don’t love Roman because they can sense who he truly is. This would rub Roman the wrong way and he has promised that he will end Bryan's career. Daniel has himself talked about being in the twilight of his career and felt like the Royal Rumble this year was the last chance he had to win. Alpha Academy which Bryan has aligned with this year has also been feuding with The Bloodline and tensions are high, who will walk out of the main event of Night 2 as Men’s Universal Champion?

Women’s Universal title match:
Shayna Baszler © vs Rhea Ripley

Shayna Baszler and the MMA Horsewomen have been a force like we haven’t seen before, tearing through the Women’s division on Raw and Smackdown. At last year’s WrestleMania Shayna Baszler won the Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match and she would end up cashing that in on the Raw after Queen of the Ring to take the Women’s Universal title from Beth Phoenix. Ronda Rousey meanwhile would become WWE Women’s Champion and the duo would also hold the WWE Women’s tag team titles being a truly dominant force.

Whilst the MMA Horsewomen were on top of Raw and Smackdown, Rhea Ripley would stand atop NXT as the NXT Women’s Champion. Having defeated Bianca Belair down in NXT, Rhea Ripley reigned as champion for 248 days even defeating the likes of Charlotte Flair along the way in a triple threat against Io Shirai. The reign however, would come to an end when Io defeated Rhea Ripley and sent her on her way to Monday Night Raw where Rhea made an immediate impact!

Back to the MMA Horsewomen, things would start to go wrong as they went to war with the Four Horsewomen, Asuka and Beth Phoenix (with the Glamazon standing in for Becky Lynch who is off TV due to her real-life pregnancy). One by one the entire group would lose their titles with Shayna Baszler losing her Women’s Universal title to Charlotte Flair at Starrcade! Shayna and Ronda would blame each other for the losses and after Ronda’s pregnancy was revealed the MMA Horsewomen would turn on her!

Meanwhile, Rhea Ripley would go on a tear, beating the likes of Nia Jax and Natalya on her route to the Royal Rumble. She went into the match holding the elimination record and she would go on to break it once again, this time walking out as the winner of the Royal Rumble last tossing out Ember Moon to win the match. Rhea Ripley would make it clear she had one target at WrestleMania, the Women’s Universal title held by Charlotte Flair due to The Queen holding a win over Rhea Ripley at Queen of the Ring!

Charlotte Flair who just turned her back on the fans in the way she defeated Dakota Kai, would soon be forced to vacate her title due to injury. Wade Barrett announced on the final Raw before Fastlane the vacant Women’s Universal title will be on the line in an Iron Survivor match between Shayna Baszler, Tegan Nox, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan and Nia Jax. Shayna Baszler would walk out of Fastlane as the Women’s Universal Champion, setting up a collision with Rhea Ripley!

Rhea Ripley had already started to cross paths with Shayna Baszler as the two women had been having a war of words. Shayna would use the help of Nia Jax and the rest of the MMA Horsewomen to try to injure Rhea before the match, causing a bunch of damage to her right leg. Rhea would soon get help from Team Kick, Beth Phoenix and the WWE Women’s tag team champions the Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection, stopping them from doing more damage. Will Shayna keep her place at the top of Raw or will Rhea usher in a new era of brutality?

United States title match:
Chad Gable © vs Jacob Fatu

Chad Gable has had a great rise over the last couple of years, becoming a two-time United States Champion. He dethroned Samoa Joe to win his first United States title and even beat AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36 before losing the title to Finn Balor at Summerslam. Chad Gable though would fight to earn and get a rematch, beating Finn Balor at New Year’s Revolution. Chad would talk about being a fighting champion and taking all comers on but he might soon regret it when it sinks in, he is facing Jacob Fatu!

Jacob Fatu debuted on Smackdown last joining Roman’s Bloodline as the newest muscle in his group and he has made an impact, currently unbeaten on Smackdown. He has gone on a tear injuring superstars like Braun Strowman, Big Cass and on the most recent Smackdown Live Alpha Academy member: Matt Riddle. Jacob Fatu would injure him and cause him to miss the Money in the Bank ladder match. Can Gable overcome the Samoan Werewolf or will Jacob Fatu carry on his destructive tear through Smackdown?

World tag team titles tag team warfare match:
The Hurt Business © vs The Street Profits vs British Strong Style vs The Ungovernables vs Jeff Jarrett and Heath Slater vs Breezeango vs Lucha House Party vs Dolph Ziggler and OMOS

THE HURT BUSINESS: Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander have held the World tag team titles for just over 5 months, atop of the Raw tag team division taking on anyone who got in the way and winning by any means necessary. They would also make a point to target the other teams in the division getting in their way, attacking British Strong Style and The Street Profits in a tag team match on Raw after they helped New Day pick up a shock win the previous week. Wade Barrett would respond by putting the tag team titles on the line in a tag team warfare match (tornado tag rules elimination match, new entrant every 2 minutes) and now The Hur Business are in grave danger of losing their belts.

THE STREET PROFITS: The Street Profits are seen by many as the best team in WWE yet to become tag team champions (they didn’t get the NXT tag team title reign as they did in real life). They keep coming close on several occasions but they have missed out each time and both men feel this is the last chance saloon for them. Talking on Raw both men mentioned that they can’t keep coming up short like they have. Will the Street Profits finally not only beat The Hurt Business but also become tag team champions!

BRITISH STRONG STYLE: Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate are representing the trio in this match with Trent Seven currently on the shelf due to an attack by The Hurt Business writing him out of action. Dunne and Bate have had their eyes on The Hurt Business, out for revenge. Dunne and Bate are not as used to teaming with each other as some of these other teams but both men have held various titles (Dunne: Intercontinental and NXT UK. Bate: NXT Tag Team, NXT Cruiserweight, NXT UK) will the Brits add even more gold to their collection?

THE UNGOVERNABLES: The group led by Andrade Cien Almas and Zelina Vega dominated Monday Night Raw in 2019 and 2020. However ever since Cesaro and Ilja Dragunov had lost the tag team belts, the group had been without gold on Raw. Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo have remained loyal to Zelina and Andrade and they will be representing the group in this match. Can the duo bring some gold back to the Ungovernables and get them back on track?

JEFF JARRETT AND HEATH SLATER: Jeff Jarrett made his return to WWE after many years away, entering the Royal Rumble. It wouldn’t be for a long time but Jeff would confirm it was a full-time return joining Raw. He would approach Heath Slater and Rick Boogs offering to help both of them. Boogs disagreed with the methods Jeff was willing to use however and it led to Heath Slater turning on him. Jeff now looks to lead his protégé to tag team gold, will they be singing tonight?

BREEZANGO: Tyler Breeze and Fandango are a popular tag team on Raw who have provided some laughs for the WWE Universe but neither man has been able to win any gold in WWE (again no NXT tag team reigns for them either). Breezango comes into this match like The Street Profits looking to break that duck as rumors online swirl about Tyler Breeze considering hanging up his boots shortly. Can Breezango pull off a huge upset?

LUCHA HOUSE PARTY: Kalisto and Lince Dorado have been a highlight within the Cruiserweight division putting on great matches but have yet to turn that into gold as a duo. Kalisto has a strong trophy cabinet being a former United States, Cruiserweight and NXT Tag team champion but it has been a while since he held gold. Can he lead Lince to his first titles in WWE or will the party end this Sunday?

DOLPH ZIGGLER AND OMOS: Dolph Ziggler managed at last year’s WrestleMania to have his first ever one-on-one match and later in the year became a Cruiserweight Champion for the first time in his career with the help of his new bodyguard OMOS. Ziggler would lose the title back to Mustafa Ali before they wrapped their feud up in an I Quit match towards the end of last year. Since then Ziggler has talked about showing OMOS how to win gold and Ziggler is a multiple-time tag team champion, will his experience help them become tag team champions tonight?

Women’s tag team titles match:
Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection © vs Team Kick

The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection managed to take the tag team titles from the grasps of Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey at New Year’s Revolution, taking back the titles they brought to WWE. Bayley and Banks have been defending the titles against any challengers to appear whilst also having their eyes on walking out of the Elimination Chamber as the number one contender for Asuka’s title. Both women fell short to Taynara Conti leaving their sole focus at WrestleMania defending their tag team titles.

Team Kick meanwhile were new additions to the Raw roster last year, hot off a year on NXT where they broke the record for the longest reign with the WWE Tag Team titles. Dakota and Tegan would both come close to becoming Women’s Universal Champion on separate occasions but each missed out. They would earn the tag team titles shot at WrestleMania on the Raw after Roadblock and would even help the tag team champions fight off the MMA Horsewomen. Now though it is these two teams alone at WrestleMania, who will walk out as tag team champions?

Loser leaves The O.C.:
AJ Styles vs Finn Balor

Last year’s WrestleMania was a rough one for AJ Styles and Finn Balor. AJ Styles would lose in a United States title match against Chad Gable whilst Finn Balor would get destroyed in a matter of minutes by “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt! Both would shortly after WrestleMania make the call to take some time off and look to rethink their approaches, both realizing whatever they are doing is not working. At The Great American Bash Finn Balor would make his return and attack Chad Gable after he defended his United States title against Bobby Roode.

Finn Balor would quickly realign with The Good Brothers to reform The Club, saying he needed to go back to who he was in the past. When he ran Japan, he said it was time for him to bring back the prince. Finn would get to work, convincing Buddy Murphy to join the group as well and Buddy would help Finn Balor defeat Chad Gable to become United States Champion at Summerslam. Finn Balor and the rest of the Club would host a title celebration in the ring… AS AJ STYLES MADE HIS RETURN TO SMACKDOWN!

AJ and Finn would tease tension between the pair of them before sharing a hug to boos from the live crowd. AJ would reveal that they had agreed to bring the old gang back together and would now be known as The O.C. He promised that wasn’t all as he told the fans that he also had a new member for the O.C. and out came the returning Big Cass! From there the O.C. would end up in a war with the Chad Gable-led Alpha Academy and things would not work out how the O.C. expected as Chad pinned Finn Balor.

AJ Styles though would save the match for The O.C. and pick up the win for his team as the Sol Survivor at Survivor Series. In the weeks leading up to New Year’s Revolution there was tension between Finn and AJ, with Finn trying to pretend the match at Survivor Series did not matter so he could avoid Gable whilst AJ was using it to state his case for a Men’s Universal title shot against Aleister Black. In the end, Shawn Michaels would make both matches official for the show and it would be a bad night for The O.C. as both lost!

Finn and AJ would look to regroup entering the Royal Rumble whilst Buddy Murphy was given a Men’s Universal title shot in a 4-way against Black, Owens and Reigns. Finn and AJ would have a decent run in the Rumble until AJ accidentally eliminated Finn Balor with a leaping forearm. Finn outside the ring would argue with AJ leading to his fellow co-leader being eliminated as well. The duo would nearly come to blows on Smackdown but cooler heads would prevail as both qualified for the Elimination Chamber at Roadblock!

Inside the match, the duo would be working well as a team and took control of the match against Aleister Black and Kevin Owens. However, sensing an opportunity Finn Balor would roll up AJ Styles to eliminate him from the match. AJ would be confused and refuse to help Balor whilst still in the chamber as Black eliminated him! This would lead to the two men arguing once they got outside the chamber and a complete breakdown between the two co-leaders of The O.C.!

Finn Balor and AJ Styles would confront each other on Smackdown as they each blamed the other for their recent losses as a group. Buddy Murphy would make it clear he was sick of the arguing and his status in the O.C. is in doubt whilst Big Cass is on the shelf after Jacob Fatu’s attack a month ago. The Good Brothers suggested a match to settle this and both men declared the loser would leave the O.C. Who will walk out of WrestleMania the sole leader of the group?

Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match:
Ilja Dragunov vs Kevin Owens vs Bobby Lashley vs Buddy Murphy vs Sami Zayn vs Dominik Dijakovic vs Mustafa Ali vs ???

The Men’s Money in the Bank once again returns to WrestleMania for the 2nd year in a row. Several men have cashed in the briefcase to become a World Champion. No one in the match has held the briefcase before and we will also have a mystery entrant. Let’s run through the field:

BOBBY LASHLEY: Bobby was the man who came closest to stopping Big E at last year’s WrestleMania from pulling down the briefcase. Bobby would have a rough 2020 with MVP offering him a spot in The Hurt Business but before he could confirm his answer, he picked up a serious injury taking him out of action for the rest of the year. Bobby would make his return in the 2021 Royal Rumble, having a decent showing before being eliminated from the match by now Men’s WWE Champion Big E!

Bobby Lashley would focus on fighting Big E at Fastlane, wanting to face him after losing out to him in two big matches in a row whilst The Hurt Business would offer him the chance to join them. Lashley would make it clear he is going it alone and would show Big E respect after losing to him. Lashley would end up qualifying for this match beating Ricochet and it remains to be seen if he changes his mind on joining The Hurt Business, especially after a rough night for the group!

BUDDY MURPHY: The former Cruiserweight Champion has been impressing people over the last few years and keeps coming close to finally winning gold, even pushing Aleister Black to the limit for his Men’s Universal title. Recently Buddy Murphy tried to pick up a 2nd victory over Daniel Bryan but the Royal Rumble winner defeated Buddy. After the match, Bryan tells Buddy that he can help him get to the top and suggests he needs to leave the O.C. Will Buddy get his ticket to the top and where will his future lie?

DOMINIK DIJAKOVIC: Dijakovic has been a vital part of Zelina’s plan for The Ungovernables to dominate both brands, working with Shinsuke Nakamura to become WWE Tag team champions. In recent times, however, Dijakovic like Cesaro has been having some frustration with Nakamura trying to get involved in his matches. Dijakovic earned his spot in this match and will stand across the ring from Ilja who just left the Ungovernables on Raw. Will there be tension between them and can Dijakovic bring the briefcase back to the group like Andrade two years ago?

ILJA DRAGUNOV: The Mad Russian joined Cesaro in leaving The Ungovernables after Survivor Series last year citing their lack of honor and their attack on his close friend Cesaro. Ilja would do his best to fight against the rest of The Ungovenables, and come close to getting a huge win over Andrade on the Raw before WrestleMania. Ilja has shown to be willing to do whatever he thinks it takes to win, can anyone stop the Mad Russian from pulling down the briefcase?

KEVIN OWENS: Kevin Owens has spent the last year with one goal in mind: to take down Roman Reigns. The Prize-fighter has been looking for revenge ever since Roman arranged for Randy Orton to take out his best friend Sami Zayn. Kevin would come up short in the war and would lose to him inside the Elimination Chamber. Owens now though has a golden opportunity to not only win Money in the Bank but also spoil Roman’s night! However, how far will he go with his best friend Sami Zayn also in the match?

MUSTAFA ALI: Mustafa Ali over the last two years has established himself atop the Cruiserweight division, reigning over it as a two-time champion including retaining the Cruiserweight title over a former WWE Champion in Dolph Ziggler. However thanks to the same Dolph Ziggler he would lose the Cruiserweight title to Lio Rush and his attempts to win it back were thwarted by The Hurt Business. Ali qualified for this match by defeating EJ Nduka and he made it clear that if he won, he was going straight for Samoa Joe if he still held the WWE title. Big E walked out of last night’s show as champion so what does Ali have planned if he wins the briefcase tonight?

SAMI ZAYN: Sami Zayn coming to Raw gave him a chance to step out on his own and he did just that, defeating John Morrison to become Intercontinental Champion on an episode of Raw in the summer. Sami would manage to hold the title for nearly 4 months before losing to Swerve Strickland and looking to try to take down The Hurt Business. He would fight Samoa Joe at the Royal Rumble but Sami would fall just short. Now he has the chance to get another WWE or Universal title shot but how will he react seeing his best friend standing in front of him?

THE MYSTERY ENTRANT: The final spot in this match was meant to go to Matt Riddle but Jacob Fatu injured him on the final Smackdown before WrestleMania. Shawn Michaels has commented online to say he thinks he has found a worthy replacement for Riddle in the match but refused to confirm who it is. There are rumours abound that it will either be a free agent signing or someone from NXT but can whoever it is take advantage of the mystery to walk out of WrestleMania 37 with the Money in the Bank briefcase?

Dream match:
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs John Cena

There are very few true dream matches left in the history of WWE but this one might be one of the biggest ones left. Two men who were faces of the company during their prime will now collide on the grandest stage of them all. Stone Cold Austin came to Raw and wanted to call out Randy Orton after the Viper had punted him in the skull. Austin talked about the Viper going into hiding because he knew Austin was looking to whoop his ass when John Cena came out interrupting the Rattlesnake!

The two legends would exchange words with each other in the ring leading to the challenge in Texas. Cena would confirm the reason he came out to fight Stone Cold is that a victory over Stone Cold won’t just be a historic moment but shoot him right to the top of a line for a shot at the Men’s WWE or Universal title and break the record for the number of World title reigns. Stone Cold looks to prove he is still the badass he was in his heyday, who will win when the two legends collide?

Grudge match:
Andrade Cien Almas vs Cesaro

The Ungovernables in 2019 and 2020 stood atop Monday Night Raw with Andrade Cien Almas reigning as Men’s Universal Champion going into last year’s WrestleMania. He would defend the title in a three-way dance against Brock Lesnar and Aleister Black with Andrade being the first eliminated from the match. Elsewhere at WrestleMania we would see Cesaro team with Ilja Dragunov and defeat The Usos to become World tag team champions bringing gold back to the group.

Cesaro and Andrade after WrestleMania would start to have a clash in ideals and how to go about things, with Cesaro calling Andrade a coward for how he wanted to avoid fighting Brock Lesnar. Cesaro and Ilja would have a good run at the top of the tag team division until they ran into The New Day at Summerslam with Big E pinning Ilja Dragunov to take the tag team titles. Andrade meanwhile would beat Brock Lesnar to earn a WWE title shot against Drew McIntyre but El Idolo would lose to the Sinister Scotsman.

Andrade would be angry about the loss and get even more angry when Cesaro became the number one contender for the WWE title. He would tell Cesaro that he needed to do whatever it took to finish the job but Cesaro made it clear he wanted to do things the right way. Drew McIntyre and Cesaro would have a banger of a match at London Calling with Cesaro just falling short of dethroning Drew McIntyre for his WWE title and leaving Andrade acting smug.

Cesaro would enter the King of the Ring tournament and would defeat Johnny Gargano in the opening round before falling short in the 2nd round against then NXT Champion Keith Lee. Andrade would carry on his arguments with Cesaro leading into a Survivor Series match where The Ungovernables would take on a team of Sheamus, British Strong Style and Keith Lee. They would be clean-swept leading to tension and on the Raw after the PPV, Cesaro would leave the group… but it wouldn’t be on his terms.

Zelina and Andrade would get Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo to beat down Cesaro with Ilja Dragunov not on the show. The next week, Ilja would make it clear he sided with Cesaro and also left the group. He would fight the remaining Ungovernables until Cesaro made his return saving Ilja from a beatdown. Cesaro would make a challenge for Fastlane teaming with Ilja Dragunov and Sami Zayn to beat the Raw branch of The Ungovernables in a trios match to get his singles match with Andrade at WrestleMania!

In the weeks leading up to WrestleMania, both men would exchange words as the tension between them became very clear. Andrade says Cesaro has always been weak and doesn’t have what it takes to be a champion like he has. Cesaro says Andrade lacks honour and being part of The Ungoverables has held him back from making it to the top. Who will come out on top when these two men collide in what promises to be a barn burner of a match?

WrestleMania 37: Saturday - March 27, 2021:

It’s awesome to see you made it this far, after so long without me popping my head in. There’s a stacked set of cards in play here, and it’s very clear things have very much pivoted since the build into the Survivor Series a few months ago. I did peep the Royal Rumble not long back actually, but yes, always a phenomenal feat to go the distance.

With that out of the way, I have to admire the original touches you made by booking WrestleMania to be on this date, in Arlington, Texas. AEW All In inspired? Or was it just trying to get out of the Pandemic-scope of the Raymond James Stadium? (Or I presume WrestleMania 36 took place before an actual crowd).

Great touch with the select Superstars entrance for the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Truly adds a touch of production. Very fascinating blend of undercard and not typically seen NXT talent. Kenny Williams stood out to me. EJ Nduka is another one. Man has his star crashed of late after so much talked-of potential. Daniel Garcia sticking around and Nathan Frazer popping up early is pleasant to see. AR Fox is not too out of the realm of possibility for the era, though he was off the radar massively until AEW started to feature him. I wasn’t expecting Fox to get the win, nevermind see Karrion Kross get so far just to come up so short. 21 minutes is awful long for a Battle Royal, though. I can’t imagine he’s going for the NXT North American Championship…

The Kickoff Show was cool at previewing things as one might expect, as well as showcasing your undercard talents. It’s clear a lot of them has directive, which occasionally made the Battle Royal a little too crowded for content in places.

Opening the main show with the Hell in a Cell match is an epic touch, very on par with the sort of shock factor I could see WWE doing around this period. Seth Rollins and Aleister Black’s interplay in 2020 was a fun and brief one, so I really liked the sound of what you had them getting up to in that environment. Rollins was the right man to win, being more established and ready for the main stage. Black, no matter what, just strikes me as someone with undercard baggage in any timeline or period I see him in. Well, except NXT.

Gotta say that having Elias on the announce team is a humorous little note. What made you trial that one out?

Xavier Woods may well be the biggest cruiserweight in the division, haha. The WWE Cruiserweight Championship getting some love here was fine for what it was, if anything a comeback after the match that opened the show. Lio Rush probably wowed a lot of people with this showing, but with The New Day’s splendor, it’s no surprise that Woods got the win.

I’ll always appreciate the attempts to build up new stars. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll ever see Noam Dar as being on that level. Him and Logan Paul make a dubious duo, at least. It is something of a shame that this was all we had for Damian Priest. Not to say he and Bad Bunny as a combination didn’t make sense - I always liked their chemistry, especially where their Backlash match down the line came to be. But yes, celebrities, Logan Paul in his first proper WWE outing, and Priest with some rub. I’m thankful it was short enough for what you’d come to expect.

It’s clear to me that Beth Phoenix and Natalya has been built up progressively, and I appreciated the context thrown in by Michael Cole before it. It was odd to read this as happening at WrestleMania in 2021, given the tenures of both women leading back as far as 2009 (well, if you count both women on the same playing field). Not sure how the crowd may have taken to this match. Still, two veterans going out and having 10 minutes on the biggest stage was no doubt refreshing. If that was Beth’s swansong, I’ve no doubt she appreciated that.

Getting an early WrestleManias vibe from this show thus far, between consecutive matches going 10 minutes maximum. A hallmark of an overcrowded show perhaps? Ah well, can’t be as bad as how WrestleMania 35 was…

I maybe would have divided the women’s matches across the show a little better. Stacked Money in the Bank match here, though. Very curious to see you do it here and not at its’ own pay-per-view, unless you decided to discontinue it for originality? Millie McKenzie sticks out like a sore thumb in this lineup - not a bad thing by any means. Always been quite high on her. It sounded hella dramatic, and honestly I was expecting Ember Moon to pull out the win. She was so underutilized in WWE it made my head spin. She’s more than shown she’s capable of maintaining a leading spot though, based off her ROH run in recent years.

Another match I would not have expected to see on a WrestleMania card, let alone in a singles environment. It’s nice to see Swerve Strickland get that boost from working with a veteran like Kofi Kingston, even if I wasn’t too keen on the outcome. Kofi winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship telegraphed to me somewhat that Big E might well leave tomorrow as the WWE Champion, with all of the gold in The New Day’s court. Of course the flip side to that comes with the chance it’s all a red herring, and they finish the weekend 2-for-3.

Edge and Rey Mysterio teaming up is quite the blast from the past. I dig that for a showdown with The Usos. I wouldn’t have minded seeing this match go longer, honestly. Usos retaining the WWE Tag Team Championship was the right way to go, no question. A lot of questions in mind for Edge and Rey’s momentum shifting forward. Does Dominik Mysterio exist in this world?

You’ve done such a solid job at establishing size doesn’t matter in this universe, so the size difference between Drew McIntyre and Tommaso Ciampa only makes me do a small laugh. In all seriousness, this was always going to the problem with Ciampa being raised as NXT’s golden goose through the late 2010s, coming to the main roster and being met by giants and taller men. Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano, among others also would have had that dilemma. It went longer than I expected, though then again it was a grudge match that had built from the Rumble. I’m sure it was physical. Maybe a little too many weapons at play, is my only gripe.

Asuka as the mighty conqueror of the WWE Women’s Championship scene is just such a fluid story to tell. Tay Conti is a gifted talent, especially in 2021 where she is coming into her own. I wonder what her trajectory could have looked like had she never been released from NXT… Apparently she wasn’t very happy from her lack of bookings, from what I recall. Ember Moon trying to cash in was certainly pretty predictable after the backstage interaction with Conti earlier. I liked Bianca Belair evening the odds, but maybe could have gone without all of that amidst a gripping striking battle with the competitors of the match. Feelgood win for Tay in what was pushed very hard as an upset. That, to me, makes me feel like Asuka should get a rematch sometime soon.

And there it is. Big E having his own feelgood moment at the top really put a cherry on top of The New Day’s night…and this is just night one? I liked the write-up for this, with Samoa Joe having E on the cusp of losing on several occasions. The resilience factor is something I was going to have at play for Big E myself, back in the Pandemic Project days. The Jackhammer doing it was an extraordinary way to finish it though, the Big Ending is a pretty cool move!

Overall a strong way to start the weekend. A few moments, but it is apparent there will be things you’ll be saving for tomorrow’s show. It was odd to see the WWE Women’s Championship match go longer than the WWE Championship main event, and there were quite a few shorter undercard matches which made me question why they were booked on such a grand stage. Alas, this show alone made me feel like this is night-and-day a different project than the one I started following in the in-universe period of summer 2020, some years ago.

A lot of the star players are on the Sunday show, making that feel like the A-show of the weekend, unsurprisingly. I’m eager to see how that goes. Looking at the comparison of the line-ups this year, I do wonder if there could have been some more room for tinkering around to make them balance up better. Maybe just me though.

I’ll get around to WrestleMania Sunday when it drops.

Cheers as always for the feedback and review. In this timeline the pandemic didn't happen and I made the call a few years back when planning out WrestleMania to have it in Texas to do a Stone Cold match (It was going to be Orton but EWR injury happened). Elias on commentary was due to an EWR injury he got which ruled him out for 13 months in thread. I needed a person to replace Big Show as in real life he went to AEW around that time and thought it would be a fun way to use Elias plus allowed me to have his return in the Andre battle royal too (he was feuding with Corbin when he got injured). I also made a call to discard the MITB PPV (which is unrealistic I will admit) as I think it fits better at WM and gives me a good way to fit people on the card. Ember Moon is someone who is deffo AEW inspired by how much I push her too.

Dominik does exist in the thread but got written off in the lead-up to WM by the Usos. He will be returning if the thread carries on. The New Day holding all the gold was a moment I had planned once I made the call on Big E won the MITB (It would have been Luke Harper before real life). I wanted the main event to be a bit of a sprint and be a quicker affair due to me feeling that suits Joe better nowadays. I do agree that in hindsight swapping some stuff around would have worked better to make the cards a bit more even, I was also looking to make sure there were celebrity matches this year and to have a few women matches. Me sticking to real life is the reason as well changed one of the original plans being Shayna Baszler vs Ronda Rousey plus I did have Brock Lesnar pencilled in to face Drew McIntyre instead of Tommaso Ciampa but the real life stuff made me stop using him.
