Shari Redstone, the chair and controlling shareholder of Paramount Global, is confronting a personal health crisis as she navigates a high-profile battle over the future of her media empire and a lawsuit filed by President Trump against her news division at CBS.

Ms. Redstone, 71, was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer and underwent surgery last month, she acknowledged in an interview after The New York Times asked about her condition.

“Shari Redstone was diagnosed with thyroid cancer earlier this spring,” said Molly Morse, a spokeswoman for Ms. Redstone.

The diagnosis adds a new layer of complexity to the legal and political quagmire that Ms. Redstone and her company, which controls television stations, streaming platforms and a movie studio, have been struggling to navigate.

The long-resilient US labor market slowed down a little in May, adding 139,000 jobs, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released Friday.

Last month’s job gains, which came in slightly more than expected, marked a retreat from April, which was downwardly revised to 147,000.

The unemployment rate held steady at 4.2%.

Economists were expecting the economy to have added 130,000 jobs last month and that the unemployment rate held at 4.2%, according to FactSet consensus estimates.

So the Proud Boys are planning in suing the federal government for daring to be convicted for their involvement in raiding the capital building.

The Supreme Court on Friday allowed members of the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency to access Social Security Administration data.

The conservative-majority court, with its three liberal justices objecting, granted an emergency application filed by the Trump administration asking the justices to lift an injunction issued by a federal judge in Maryland.

The unsigned order said that members of the DOGE team assigned to the Social Security Administration should have "access to the agency records in question in order for those members to do their work."

The timing is peculiar, isn't it...

The whole world has their eyes completely on the "implosion" of this Musk/Trump partnership, be it that they're celebrating it, or whining about it, with a lot of big name celebrities/influencers helping with it... all while important shit like this goes down.

Trump wants to nix Musk's contracts, but he's not backpaddling about the DOGE shit seems odd too. Almost out of character, I would even say, because usually Trump would take a dump on everything his newest enemy is (or was) responsible for.

Feels almost like a try of an elaborate work. (...and it would work perfectly, since so many people thought from the beginning it would implode between those two)

Between that, him petitioning the SC to gut the Department of Education, and Trump's government indicting civilians that they previously deported without due process, the Trump/Musk is small potatoes.

A former federal inmate who was pardoned by President Donald Trump in his first term for drug trafficking crimes more than two decades ago has been tapped as deputy director of the federal Bureau of Prisons, according to bureau spokesperson Kristie Breshears.

Joshua J. Smith, a Tennessee businessman who founded an inmate advocacy and rehabilitation nonprofit foundation, the Fourth Purpose, will be second in command in the bureau.

The BOP has never had a formerly incarcerated inmate work as an employee at any level, according to a senior bureau official.
