“When I won my first title, I made a promise. Back then it was like mythical. We never think we’re going to reach the end when we’re 20-something years old. I said when I’m a step slower, I’m gone. If you watch my stuff from 2015 and you watch my stuff from today, I’m a step slower.”
“I know wrestling retirements aren’t real because there’s always a payout involved. I’ve been in the business almost 25 years, and the business has been good to me. I’ve been smart with my money, and I will have a life without want."

“There is no amount of money. And there is not a check. And this is just a shot across the bow to any casino owner, to any territory owner, to any promotion owner. You can’t write me a check to bring me back. In December, I am done because of the promise I made to them. Whether I like them or I don’t, at least I go out keeping my word. And for them to understand that, they may have some unpacking to do in their own personal lives. I get to sleep sound at night. I’m good. December, I’m gone.”

I've come up with a few interesting scenarios for how Cena's retirement plays out.

1. Cena wins his last match as WWE Champion. There's a big celebration for him in the ring. Other wrestlers lift him up on their shoulders...and then slam him down allowing for the Money in the Bank holder to cash in and become WWE Champion. Cena becomes the first male competitor to lose a championship to MITB cash in three times.

2. Cena wins his last match and retires as WWE Champion. The title is vacated and a new champion is crowned in the Royal Rumble Match.

3. Cena wins his last match and retires as WWE Champion. The title is vacated. Triple H or one of the GMs goes on TV to announce the status of the championship and the MITB holder comes out says he wants to cash in, but since there is no champion, he is handed the title.

Take out the whole part about the celebration and people lifting him onto their shoulders and #1 is what i've been expecting to happen.

Here's my fantasy booking:

He's still a heel Champion by the time of his last appearance in Boston. His opponent is CM Punk. Cena says he's leaving with the title after he wins. Role reversal from 2011.

Cena wins the match. Whatever you do with Punk afterwards isn't important.

Here's where the story branches into 2 separate ideas:

1. Cena celebrates completing his goal of being the Last Real Champion. Cue Mr. Money In The Bank, who runs to the ring and beats Cena, thus "Saving" WWE. This person, obviously, is DOMINIK MYSTERIO. He either becomes the biggest babyface of all time for saving WWE or he just rubs everyones faces in it and is an uber-heel.
2. Everything is the same, but Dominik loses the cash-in attempt. Cameras go to Gorilla and see a dejected Triple H knowing the biggest prize in professional wrestling is dead and gone. Off camera, we hear someone tell Triple H "Don't worry, Mami's got this." RHEA RIPLEY CASHES IN HER MONEY IN THE BANK ON JOHN CENA. and pins him clean in the middle of the ring.

:bosque that last one would be kind of hilarious. Kinda like how Asuka won when she had MITB, but different because the person actually carried the case around awhile lol.

Edit: Then we got Troop here with gold lol.

I can’t see any other scenario than Cody Rhodes winning it back in December but maybe they’ll swerve us.

Either Punk or L.A Knight is MITB winner . One cashes in just as Cena is about to leave after he's just won his last match in Boston. It's Cenas second match of the night fatigue plays a major and Punk/Knight seizes on this factor and beats the shit out of Cena . Making them a Heel in the process and making Cena the biggest Babyface in WWE History. But just as Punk/Knight about to pin Cena he's interrupted by the crowds massive gasps but no one comes to the ring but Cena seizes the opportunity to get Punk/Knight on his shoulders for the A.A and he wins with his last gasp of power and he's really fatigued. The crowd goes wild and Cena is very teary eyed and is about to speak . He's interrupted....

The Commentators didn't say who it was who cost Punk/ Knight it's revealed it's Cody who makes his way to the ring and confronts Cena and the pissed off Knight/Punk in the process. Cena shakes Cody's hand and apologizes for way he acted. Then Punk/ Knight Enraged about this and goes to hit Cody but Cena Stops this from happening.

All of a Sudden Triple H music plays and he comes out to address the situation that has infolded after the match . Hunter makes a match for Royal Rumble Between Cody and Punk/Knight for WWE Undisputed Champion. Both guys are nodding with approval and they both leave the ring so Cena can address the fans and thank them for all his years in WWE and he leaves back as the biggest Babyface in WWE History. Cementing his legacy as the greatest of all time.

After reading a lot of your fanfic in here I don’t wanna see any of you judging tony khan or trip’s decisions because most of you have terrible ideas :lol

No music going off, no lights going out just the crowd gasping in unison....at nothing.
