I know you've already covered that voting may not be enough, but I would like to add local elections are even more crucial, especially in states where judges are elected.

For example, my county leans Republican but not by a huge margin compared to the rest of Texas, but local turnout isn't high, every vote is so important, I'm hoping the corrupt mayor gets out this upcoming one and that seems likely.

Judges and mayors in Texas have been the only people able to actually fight from a political standpoint for the most part for awhile now. Sadly most judges here just run unopposed, but depending on how the city governments are setup, some mayors can be so vital, others might have a separation of duties and other roles, but likewise just vote them too. Election turnout is so fucking low outside presidential ones or midterms

Also if your congressmen are fucking useless like mine, research lower than them. The top is fucked rn, but you can contact state reps, or even more importantly judges and express your concern about certain policies

good advice Chris, that is stuff I obviously would not know due to stuff being differently laid out here. focusing local is great, if you can convince like 5 people to vote when they didnt bother before, thats a huge win.

It's also vastly different state to state, but it's all just different titles doing a job. If you can vote for them, research and do that. I don't know shit about these May elections for my town yet other than the mayor needs to go, but I'll know who I want by the time I can vote.

For reference tho, mayor passed a proposition last year giving himself a 3rd term but it was worded as if there were no term limits prior when the limit was actually already 2 terms. And another prop was what I actually thought were very reasonable raises for the mayor and councilmen but once I found out about the 1st prop being a scam, I voted no for that too lol I think the raises one didnt pass too but don't remember for sure

Grim's case is even different than mine, not sure about his city but his state at least seems to be fighting pretty hard, if not harder than any other from what can tell against Trump, so he doesn't even need to bother contacting them, basically the opposite extreme as me bc I won't bother contacting Ted Cruz for example bc what's the point. Gotta find other alternatives tho, annoying when people are just like "call your rep" when they should really be advocating for trying to identify the most helpful rep or whatever title to actually help, whether it's bc they're on the verge of getting voted out and might listen bc of that or just someone that is charismatic and believes what you believe and you wanna push them to speak out more

Obviously not touching on organizing protest or anything like that, I wouldn't even know where to begin, but there's certainly still things that can be done on an individual level, they're just not still not easy, you have to really dig sometimes just to even boost someone already trying

Problem is, that Lindsey Graham, Tim Scott, and Russell Fry from my district in South Carolina don't listen to my opinions because it is too "woke" For example, I bring up the pay gap between races, they say eliminating the pay gap is "woke"

My County has not voted blue in Presidential elections since Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Tim Walz was their representative in congress but that was because Mankato was included in the district until changes were made and now Mankato is in a different district. Other than that, in state elections, my disctrict is hard-red.

BREAKING—The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) office was just on lockdown for close to an hour while members of the DOGE team tried to enter the building, multiple people have told me. Security has now escorted out remaining staffers who’ve been told to telework until further notice.

The Trump administration is considering targeting the citizens of as many as 43 countries as part of a new ban on travel to the United States that would be broader than the restrictions imposed during President Trump’s first term, according to officials familiar with the matter.

A draft list of recommendations developed by diplomatic and security officials suggests a “red” list of 11 countries whose citizens would be flatly barred from entering the United States. They are Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen, the officials said.
