Is it just me, or is Michael Cole the blueprint of what Vince Mcmahon wants his play by play announcers to be?

We all know that JR and Joey Styles are the best, yet all the time they get punished and verbally grounded because of the way of how they call the matches, and apparently it was because they still like to call the moves instead of tell a story.

Mick Foley? He called moves by its name, and he only told stories if it was the main event or he answered to a story started by...Michael Cole. Surprise surprise, story leaked that Vince Mcmahon yelled the shit out of Mick Foley on the headset. I wonder why?

JR? He goes a little further, he doesn't even call names, but uses what I could guess are "banned names". He called Taker's submission manuever the gogoplata, and he called Umaga's Black Hole Slam...a Black Hole Slam! What happened? He gets communicated that's moving to SD...on live TV.

Michael Cole tells a damn story on every single match. He pushes an angle on every single match he calls. I have not heard him call a move by its name that isn't a suplex, clothesline or straight right hand. Well, maybe Taker's "that submission maneuver" which graced the ending of our WM main event.

Ask me, Michael Cole's announcing is to read exactly the little script Vince gives to the announcers.

What's everyone's problem with Cole? He's a great play-by-play commentator, bottom line. He has a voice that's loud but not distracting, what he says is both accurate and adds to the match, and unlike some other commentators who shall remain named Jim Ross he doesn't call moves by the names that wrestlers from other promotions use or take three months to learn that "Twist of Fate" and "Whisper in the Wind" are not interchangeable terms. So he puts angles on matches and emphasizes the story. Isn't that the whole point of professional wrestling? If you don't want matches with stories attached to them go play Exhibition on SvR.

No. Cole instead calls it a Modified Backflip, or a Modified Neckbreaker :shifty:

No Roxxy, I don't want just stories, nor I want only moves.

See Tazz and the way he commentates. That's the best way to do it.

You know, that, or you reach the level of awesomeness JBL reached

I actually agree with CMS here.

Wasn't it reported a while back that Vince wanted to alter the method of commentating on WWE shows? I could be wrong but anyways, I'm fairly sure he wanted commentators to push storylines as much as possible and have them tone down the amount of moves called during a match. This is pretty much what Michael Cole does, so well done Michael in that respect, you'll please the boss.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Cole, granted the guy rarely botches etc. but nothing about him grips me at all. I can't stand the Cole/Lawler partnership, its bland and there are too many awkward silence througout matches. Commentating, I feel feel is an integral part of pro-wrestling and the lackluster current RAW duo do nothing for me.

Cole was good on SD i really don't have a problem with him. He is a good announcer. But IMO he just doesn't work that well or gel with King. PPL will say its just coz were used to JR and King. But they have had long enough to gel and get some chemistry. Look at Todd and Matt they do a good job together. I dont know i think JR and King work better and Tazz and Cole would work better. Even better than that JBL retire and go back behind the desk on Raw and king go to SD and Tazz go back to ECW.

I don't really like Cole that much, at points he acts like a girl. Telling Storys doesn't make you a play by play commentator. The Blueprint Commentator for WWE is not a real commentator, but a full blowned Story Teller that will do nothing for the fans watching at home trying to get more in depth with the wrestling holds and moves.

Wikipedia says hello. Anyone who cares that much about it will go online. It's 2008, people have internet connections now.

What's this Wiikikpfefwgdia????????????????????????????????????????????

Anyways, not like all the fans will remember how exactly guys like Mysterio, Bourne, Morrison, Wang Yang, and Hardy preforms their moves when they go to the internet. The commentator's job is to analyze moves in the match not tell a friggen story.

I hate Michael Cole.

People can diss Jr for not calling moves right, but he is the best ever. The guy adds something important to a match, much more important to 'telling a story' (although he still does that). Emotion and Believability. JR adds so much emotion to the match, and he makes you really get into the match with the way he calls them. He makes it feel like it's actually real, and gives the heels credit where it's due. Michael Cole is bland and boring. Not to mention damn repetetive. If I hear him say 'take out his arm/leg/back/head/toes you talk out his power game' one more time I will scream.

Not to mention he's the biggest fucking Batista mark.

I loved the old days when JBL and Michael Cole were on SD commentating. JBL played the perfect heel and always teased Cole. And MC did a damn good job in his part. IMO, it is just that he is not meshing well with King, and he would work better with Tazz on Smackdown. He does his job well and hardly ever botches, I dont see what there is really that much to complain about.

Michael Cole is at his best when he is lost for words, due to JBL pwning him.

JR sucks these days. He doesn't give a fuck anymore, he says his usual lines, then botches the names of moves.

Joey Styles became toned down, boring, and reptitive.

The Grish looks like a frog, and has the wrestling knowledge of one.

Tazz is pretty good, and he has some actual insight.

King is the laziest commentator in the world today. I haven't heard him say anything worthwhile in 2+ years.

Matt Striker is great. He adds insight, calls moves by their name, and tells a story. Best current commentator.

That sums up everyone. If I had to order it, it would go: Striker > Tazz > the rest. >_>
