The following is from Jim Ross' blog located this link.

As many of you know, I was “drafted†to Smackdown Monday night in the “random lotteryâ€. Obviously that means I will be leaving Monday Night Raw and my long time partner Jerry Lawler.

I am not happy about this surprise development.

I also contemplated calling it a career Monday night and not going to Houston to tape SD.

After speaking with my wife and thinking on this matter until 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, I have decided to do the right thing for the fans who care and the talent who care and begin my new assignment.

It has been explained to me that the WWE’s Smackdown tenure on My Network is a high priority within the corporation. Allegedly, my presence is needed in that effort.

Many are speculating about when I learned of this development…the same time those of you were watching at home. I should have detected something with the demeanor of certain individuals either thru their plastic, poker faces or the perceived smirk that I thought I might have seen on some of their faces during the day.

As far as going to Connecticut each week to do Smackdown post production, that’s not going to happen. Either Mick Foley can handle it or the WWE can install a DSL line in my home to facilitate the work.

I will miss working with the King as the wrestling biz is one in which a guy can count his legit friends on one hand…even after a 30 plus year career. King has been like a brother to me….albeit an “older brotherâ€. We will remain friends no matter that our team has been corporately imploded.

I believe that I have been strongly loyal to the WWE no matter the hands that were dealt to me over the years. In my tenure there I have earned a good living of which I am thankful. I will fulfill my commitments that I have made because unlike many in the business, my word is still my bond.

I can’t predict how long my Smackdown tenure will be, but I can promise that no matter how long or short it is that I will do my utmost best while sitting at ringside. I am not the kind of man who will “phone in†a damn thing.

My sincere thanks to all of you who have supported me on RAW over the years. I hope I was able to provide you a memory or two. Hopefully, we can create new memories now on Smackdown.

Based on my professional experiences, I look at each broadcast as potentially my last, which helps keep me motivated. So with that said we begin another chapter in my crazy life in the unpredictable world of ‘rasslin.

I still plan on attending RAW in my home market of OKC next Monday and I hear that tickets are still available. Any one have any extras?

Ya, Vince has been rude to him in the past, but still... JR shouldnt have acted like he is, on Raw last night (all grumpy) and in this blog. TBH, I wouldnt be surprised if King quits, like before (a few years ago)...
But JR is only an announcer, and he shouldnt really be "upset" as its business, and more big time names had moved, which affects the company more like Rey, Triple H, Batista, Punk, Matt Hardy, Jeff, etc... Tons of people moved, without complaint, even if they could have, so JR shouldnt be upset either.

I'm sure there were complaints. We just haven't seen them yet.

I'm surprised Carlito hasn't called it quits yet.

He SHOULD be upset. With all due respect to Gordon Solie, JR has become the best wrestling announcer in history. He's been made to look like a foll multiple times in the past and Ross has not complained at all. So how does he get repaid? He gets sent to the B show in exchange of what someone who is clearly a lesser announcer.

To make it even worse, they do this a week before they go to Ross' hometown for a show. I'm going to be laughing my ass off when WWE (Once again) realizes that JR is supposed to call RAW. It happened when they put Coach on RAW, it happened when they put Styles on RAW, and it'll happen again.

Ya, I dont "agree" with the move either SP... its actually stupid, cause its not like hes retiring or anything, so there wasnt a need to switch him. And him and King cant even be touched as a team , so I dont know why they did it. I still dont think he should have thought about quitting, like he said he did, but ya, it was a stupid move.

Couldn't agree more. Don't think there's anything more to add to this, you've pretty much said it all.

All I would like to say is that someone like JR who works a limited schedule and has been on as long as he has should without question have been consulted wayyyyyyyy before the show happened. It's an insult to the man to do what they did.

It may be considered an insult for him to move to SD, yet HHH has sucked it up and moved over there. Hell, he has moved next to Mick Foley who pwns King these days.

While it may not have been right to move him, I'm not going to respect someone who jumps up and down because his favourite toy got taken away.

they should have put him on ECW and brought a new commentator to Smackdown, to see how long JR could last with mike Adamle.

You can see where the WWE is coming from, they want more attention to SD now that they are going to a smaller network, hence moving the popular Jeff Hardy and the big name Triple H. JR will help on the legitimacy of the show.

What's really wrong is the way he found out. They should have talked to him about it and see if he agree. I bet if put and asked in a proper way, JR would have accepted.

HHH may not end up over there mind you - just remember the post-draft trades last time HHH got drafted to SD!

I can't even yet speak about the HHH switch.

My point about JR is that someone of his tenure should have been informed about a week or so before the draft. I'm sure HHH knew well before that show where he was going and he must have been okay with it. The same should have happened with JR. I was actually kind of hoping that Foley would have came to Raw because from what I've heard of Foley I like him on commentary. I think they'll work great together, I just wish they were on a different show.

Couldn't agree more. I'll just copy and paste what I said in the other thread...

I just lost a LOT of respect for JR. Sure, he's grudgingly going along with it, but he seems to care more about what he personally wants than what is best for the company. Everyone in WWE needs to get over this damn ego trip of "RAW is the MAIN show! Smackdown is the B Brand!", and go where they can be best utilized in feuds and refreshing brands. Get your ass on Smackdown and be happy that you're even employed by WWE, because millions of people would kill their mothers to be where you are, Jimbo. Hell, they'd kill their mothers just to get on ECW and work alongside Adamle.

I agree JR should have been notified well before draft he is an announcing icon and has been with Raw like a zillion yrs and they should have treated JR with a bit more respect. as i presume Trips got I'm pissed about that on one hand but on the other I'm open top new feuds and story lines and it will be a fresh change for trips as he has demolished 99.9% of Raw anyway.
