I'd say the art of tag-team wrestling has been on its death bed since about 02/03. I'm sure some would agree, and some would disagree. The question I pose is...why? Why has tag-team wrestling been pushed aside? Theres obviously a number of reasons, but I guess I'll throw out a few.
Longevity - Tag-Teams just aren't built to last these days. Its almost a trend. The highly successful teams usually end up parting ways within a year, which is acceptable in some cases. Looking at the current roster, BK and London have been teaming for the longest amount of time, and they've only been together for about two years (they're doing absolutely nothing at the moment)
Teams consisting of two singles competitors - Of course, its been done in the past, but the idea is pretty much whored these days. We have Rhodes and Holly, Carlito and Santino, The Miz and John Morrison, etc. I understand throwing these guys in a tag-team gives them something to do, but it's something that I personally dislike.
Brand extensions - Believe it or not, the brand extension hurts tag-team wrestling. It seems as if RAW, Smackdown, and ECW are limited to about 4 tag-teams per show, which is pretty low.
Well, these are just a few thoughts I had brewing, anyone agree? Disagree?
