Seriously for my more practical transphobic pieces of human garbage out there, do you realize the absolute waste of time, resources and money it is to investigate every fucking transgender child in the state that's reported to see if their parents are....making them trans against their will? Which should, as we've already said, be illegal before anyone comes at me with their token examples of this happening since I'm sure it has

Probably not even worth the discussion tho, anything that fights "the agenda" is going to be supported regardless by those fucks

I really couldn't give a fuck about right or left at this point, it's pure political theater using trans kids as pawns because it's an election year

There's a bunch of people who are really mad at Alexander Ovechkin for not speaking out against Putin, but folks also gotta realize, he's probably the highest-profile hockey player in world history, and his family *lives* in Russia. I dunno man.
It's better to not get involved being in his position IMO.

Why are Russian players getting ostracised out of their sport? They are not a national team or institution. They are innocent individuals who have not harmed anyone.

By that logic no American should be allowed to compete in international tournaments. They bombed so many countries over the last 100 years. Don't see Americans getting ostracised.

We are blaming individuals for the harm of their governments but it is completely hypocritical as loads of governments have acted disgustingly in recent history.

I'm from the UK and its not my responsibility for the stupid stuff the government do.

It puts pressure on the invading goverment to stop what they are doing.

Same way that a lot of bands are cancelling shows in Russia

If you're a Russian Yungblud (for example) fan and the show isn't happening because of Putin, you're gonna be pissed at Putin.

If you're a sports personality and your job and $$$ are being fucked with because Putin invaded Ukraine, you're gonna be pissed at Putin and use whatever voice you have to speak out against him

It's the same businesses refusing to do business in Russia. If you're the CEO of a company that's about to lose billions because the rest of the world has stopped doing business with you, you're gonna be pissed as hell at Putin and use whatever tools you have to get him to stop.

As far as the logic that America should be ostracised for bombing coutnries over the last 100 years, if America was currently invading a country with the intention of taking it over then I'd have no prombelm with America being banned from international tournaments.

Once the invasion stops, these sports people will most likely be able to compete on the international stage again. Those whole point of everything that is happening with now is to stop the invasion.

I think the truth with sport is - if the team is representing Russia or the sportspeople's funding is Russian -then I understand the ban.

In regards to single individuals - banning, say a driver who is Russian by birth - but his or her nationality has no affect on their team or banning a Russian NHL player - is a step too far.

There is a difference between collective representation and an independent individual.

Same thoughts as myself pretty much

He's also been one of Putin's biggest supporters. Even has a picture of him with Putin in his profile picture on some social media sites, played hockey with him, and even spoke in support of Russia's occupation of Crimea before. Like that makes it rough for fans because there is a line where politics gets into a reflection of a person or makes fans uncomfortable. But I get why, even if say he's against the war genuinely, that he doesn't go out to attack Putin. The man is dangerous, ask Panarin who had his family threatened before.
