I believe that as well. I'm sure that has to do with their old school mentality of people having to pay their dues before getting anywhere, which doesn't really work like it used to because of NXT's popularity.
Back when NXT wasn't a thing, a wrestler's debut on the main roster was his literal debut and people in the audience didn't know much about him nor did they expect much. Nowadays there's already a certain hype that follows a main roster call up and the company doesn't know how to capitalize off of it most of the time

Yeah the arrival of new wrestlers doesn't really have the punch that it used to. Yokozuna and the Undertaker are two that immediately come to mind. I remember wondering who Ted Dibiase's mystery partner would be and was surprised when it was someone I had never heard of. Then of course when Undertaker came out, I recognized him from WCW but I really didn't know what to expect because it was an unknown and undeveloped character. Of course they handled him correctly right from the beginning. We definitely don't really get that much often anymore

If you debut as a mid carder it's very hard to rise to the top. Debut as a top star then you have more chance at staying as a top star.

Too many NXT stars debut without any storyline.

Most top stars came from the mid card. Very few debut near the top, Taker, Rocky were two and they had to repackage Rock. Hogan was a star before he went to WWF, after him most had to work their way up (Bret, Shawn, Austin, Jericho, Edge, HHH).

A few got pushes from the start but were not on top as such (Rocky, Angle).

Talking more about this current era. Name one NXT call that became somewhat of a star by debuting on Raw against a jobber.

Yeah because Brain Strowman had a televised NXT match. You simpleton
Kinda before my time but the shield? Not every NXT star can be on the main roster but yeah they have dropped the ball on a alot of them/main roster in general mainly because of the focus on Reigns and dudes who were around when I was watching as a child/teenager (Taker, Shawn Michaels).

I think you get around 5 years at the top before people get bored. A few faces have been around a lot longer than that.

Well, the Shield instantly debuted in a big profile fued, that's the best way to debut. Feel sorry for guys who get called up with no plan or direction.

Braun Strowman.
Agree but Strowman was barely NXT it's like saying Mandy Rose is the hottest girl with a great finish from NXT
