What was bad about bikini contests? The crowd was way more involved in it than some stupid women matches which happen today
How they booked women before was degrading. It was distasteful marketing using them as sex objects. The reason it was accepted at the time and cheered on was for the majority adult male audience. Kids weren't encouraged to watch it back then and most women didn't care for it. Yes, no one forced them to do what they did and I am sure plenty of them enjoyed the attention but that doesn't take away from the fact that it had little to nothing to do with actual wrestling. Much less to do with story telling. They are at least trying to show these women are more then something pretty to look at in between the matches with the men. It may not be great but to me, it is better to empower women through skill than looks. We live in a world where a woman's value starts and ends at her looks. Men aren't the only ones to blame for this either, plenty of women support this logic with or without even knowing it.
You think the women don't deserve a chance to change things for themselves? To be more than a pair of tits and hair extensions jiggling around in a wrestling ring? If you want to be entertained by bikini matches or mud wrestling, there are plenty of other outlets online for that content. You can't piss on WWE or the fans for wanting things to be taken more seriously for the women.
I am saying all this without even caring much for women's wrestling. Now imagine how pissed off fans of these women would be if they seen you spewing off they belong in bikinis and don't have value outside of that. You have every right to your opinion like the rest of us but I also have the right to call out how stupid an opinion is when I read it. This is just stupid.
