What Is Carmella Doing Wrong?

As the title says. Generally the crowd is very silent and on a SD from 4 or 5 weeks ago wrestling an older lady there were chants of Lets Go Jobber.

Also saw those chants directed at Nia Jax the following week on RAW vs some jobber.

So the crowd knows whats going on anyway.

The Carmella Situation is an interesting one...

I honesty believe that the suspension (and disappearance) of Eva Marie really hurt Carmella.
Carmella was originally a face but was turned heel after Eva was suspended and Nikki Bella
returned to balance out the heel/face dynamic in the women's division.

She then feuded with Nikki Bella getting her butt kicked twice on pay per view (which seemed
a little unfair) and then seemingly passed her feud with Nikki onto Natalya only then to be paired
with "everyone's" favorite chinless wonder James Ellsworth.

Not really much to talk about...especially considering how much of an impact the other NXT
"Rookie" Alexa Bliss made on SmackDown.

I personally don't mind Carmella's gimmick...I like her look and her mic skills are pretty solid...
her in-ring skills seem a little shallow but I do like her submission finisher.

Her entrance music is really strange as it sounds more like a regular song than a wrestlers
theme...but again...this all just my opinion.

I believe that Carmella may-be getting a push once Naomi is back from injury and is once again
holding the title as I believe Carmella may be her first ongoing feud...which could turn out to
be a "make or break" program for both ladies.

I simply think Carmella needs a little more time to gain some traction on the main roster.

Some gimmicks just don't click. Carmella is not a bad wrestler and far from a bad promo. But her gimmick is basically attached to the hip of Enzo and Cass (Cass being her real life fiance) that it doesn't work without them. People can see that she isn't really from New Jersey and that it is kinda forced. And without a legit Jerseyite like Enzo to play off of/cover for her. Well...

She was good when her gimmick grew out of just being a Jersey stereotype in NXT before being called up. But here we are.

Putting her with Ellesworth, which Vince probably thinks is hilarious high level comedy doesn't help either.
