John Cena closed in on Ric Flair’s record 16 World Title reigns with his victory over Alberto Del Rio Sunday night at Night of Champions. The master of the Five Knuckle Shuffle has now won 12 World titles; the WWE Championship a record 10 times and the World Heavyweight Championship twice.

Cena’s latest World Title victory has former WWE Superstar Chavo Guerrero steamed as the third-generation grappler has vowed to stop watching professional wrestling if he breaks Naitch’s legendary record.

He stated Monday night on Twitter, “If Cena brakes the great Ric Flair’s 16 time champ record, I will never watch wrestling again. I call a boycott of Cena matches if he does!â€￾

Guerrero also asked his Twitter followers, “How many of u are tired of John Cena being champion? Don’t get all excited, it’s just a question.â€￾ He wrote moments later, “Wow…it’s an overwhelming “tired of Cenaâ€￾ response! It’s not me, it’s all the fans. I could literally retweet hundreds of tired responses!â€￾

Guerrero continued, “Now, my opinion…Cena is better than me on the mike, but I could out wrestle Cena with my eyes closed and 1 hand tied behind my back! Truth!

“Some are saying that Cena is a great athlete. Really? C’mon. Are u blind? I know Cena & I could beat him in any sport except weight lifting!

“Golf, basketball, bowling, a race, tennis, horseshoes, hitting a baseball pitch, catching a football…anything!!!!

“Lol…some1 just said Cena is a better athlete than Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior! Lol are u Blue? No offense to a challenge person.â€￾

What do you think about this?

It's "vows to stop watching wrestling" not "vows to stop wrestling". Learn to read, Andrew.

Lets be honest here. Chavo is a talent (partly due to his family name). But he cant hold a candle to the storied career that is John Cena. Cena beating Naich's record I see is inevitable especially since Ric screwed them and went to TNA. My question is yes people are tired of Cena being Champ. Hel people are getting bored of Orton being champ. If Cena altered his gimmick and gave us a breath of fresh air it would be interesting to see what people say. Everyone wants Cena heel, does that mean haters stop hating? I dont know I honestly dont care. Do you think people were having a similar discussion when Ric Flair had the title 16 times? The difference was it wasnt as easy to express these opinions back in the days of Fair's Reign.

Let's be honest here Ric Flair has 21 World Titles so Cena is closing in on nothing FFS.

It's a WWE Record. And in the WWE, Flair only had 16. So Cena is going to break that. It's easy to say.

Anyways, I agree with everything PegasusKid said.

Chavo is an idiot. Ever since he left WWE he has tried to be this controversial figure online but to me it smacks of jealousy. He was never a big star and he is upset he never made it as big as others. In the end he had his chances to make it big in WWE firstly against Mysterio a couple of times and also as ECW champion in charge of La Familia but he never was able to go to the reach level. Now he just sounds like a bitter veteran.

I don't think he understands that wrestling is simply about popularity. John Cena is MEGA OVER, he draws fans like no-one else and that is why he is champion. There are Cena haters but they are far outweighted by his fans.

Ric Flair would still be in WWE today but Vince did not need his services, You can't fault a guy for making a living even if thats due to bad decisions with money in his early career.

I don't think Chavo's intention with his comments were to prove hes a better overall talent, he should have been treated better or he should have been in the spotlight etc. The point he's making is that alot of people are upset with the constant title reigns Cena has had, This isn't news to anyone though, Just the guy went on a rant.

I wouldn't say Chavo is jealous. I know he was upset that they gave Mysterio the sympathy push after Eddie's death and that he himself didn't receive it since he was actually blood related. Chavo has pointed out the flaw in Cena's matches saying he just goes through the motions to get by and its true. Cena does. But at the same time, he's a direct product of the machine's programming. Its not Cena's fault. On PPV Cena does always go above and beyond. I'm not too sure what Chavo's issue is anymore.

I do however feel like Cena's title reigns need to stop coming so fast. How long was the span that Flair won his titles in? I'm not sure exactly but I know it wasn't nearly as fast as Cena's and I personally am upset by it.

OK I'm not a cena fan though I've seen a few come out of the wood work.

Cena is going to beat it. Why?

Because title reigns last considerably less now a days Cena could have 16 in three years time the way it changes hands this time. So I would look at his cummulative holding time which is Bruno Sammartino I believe.

Spot on John and that is just how I feel about it. Cena is no more over now than he was during his third title reign for example, and by having so many in a short space of time means that many of them are forgottable about, in fact most of Cena's title reigns have been forgettable.

Chavo does come across as a bit of a idiot for these remarks, still he does highlight nicely what a joke it is that Cena is even coming near the great Ric Flair's record.

It is just the way modern wrestling is. There are a lot more title changes these days plus WWE has two world titles. Edge ended up in the double digits, HHH is there as well and in the next five years I am sure many more wrestlers will get close to that record.

I know and it will countine to hurt the creditbilty of WWE and its top titles. I was a big Edge fan, but him winning ten world titles in six years having not won any for eight years in WWF/WWE makes no sense, I mean was he really that much better than when he was IC Champion in 2004? On the other hand there something much more logically about Bret Hart's five WWF Title reigns, and therefore he will be seen forever as a greater wrestler than Edge, and the sad thing is it is not Edge's fault.

I don't mind them waiting for some time because it shows that it takes many years to work up to that level of competition. I always liked it how Undertaker only had a few title reigns because it made each one seem more important.

No I agree with them waiting a long time for his first reign, it took Bret Hart nearly ten years to win his first WWF Title, the issue I have is with him Edge winning ten in six years, like I said I don't think it is believeable that he would sudderly be that much better. With Hart there was a proper progression, so he had a couple of very good IC Title reigns and got over with that title, and then won the WWF Title not long after dropping the IC Title, that made sense and it kept the IC belt stong as Hart had won that on his way to the world title.
