You're right. I don't think I can remember the last time WWE wasn't so predictable and so far, 2014 has pretty much been the worst year for WWE, both injury-wise and product-wise.
It's sad, really.

You're right. I don't think I can remember the last time WWE wasn't so predictable and so far, 2014 has pretty much been the worst year for WWE, both injury-wise and product-wise.

I believe we are finally seeing the repercussions of sending wrestlers through the WWE system as opposed to the Indy's first.
At this point, all the main characters in the company were guys who never worked the Indy system.
Talents like Batista, Cena and Orton were WWE bred from the get-go so they have little problem taking direction and doing exactly as they are told with little input on their part.
We are just now leaving that era and entering a time when a great majority of the young talent have worked the Indy circuit.
It will be a slow process but, with HHH in charge of talent the company has a fresh set of eyes with a panoramic view. Punk and Bryan were the tip of iceberg.
With more seasoned talent debuting, we may see more diversity. Any era is usually best defined by who's at the top. Of course, it may all just be politics.

We will have lost the most un-entertaining 14 time (by then) world champion of all time.
For WWE to put the strap on him at 24 years of age and carry the company through so many historically boring moments brings a tear to my eye.
It takes guts, talent and perseverance to be that uninspiring and bland and uncool through 14 WWE world heavyweight championship reigns.
Randy Orton cured insomnia. There will never be another like you, Randy, never.
During his HOF ceremony, there won't be an open eye in the house.
I agree with you, in a sense.
For Orton to be the most successful, he needs to be the centerpiece of the writing process. Every angle needs to be written with him in mind.
All his strong suits must be emphasized and highlighted for the Orton character to work.
This can be a tiring process especially when writers ideas are only make it to TV a small percentage of the calender year.
It's also easier to write for Cena, Big Show, Kane, Jericho or any other vet because they possess far more depth of character.
Orton is also 34. He's no longer being written as the A character in a story line anymore and may never be again.

Man, have you ever wondered if maybe you're wrong about orton being able to entertain a large portion of the fans? I mean, seriously, you are in the absolute minority here, a guy that isn't likeable should NOT have been as pushed as randy was. You like him, fine, but most people don't, and that's reason enough to not spend a lot of time working on his character.
I could make the argument that Triple H from 97-00 was just as unlikable, if not more so, than Randy Orton.
Triple H played the cool guy with the hot chick. He worked off two legends in a time when everything clicked.
Triple H also played politics in those early days with HBK, campaigning to get innocent talent (The Rock) de-pushed.
I'm not taking away from what HHH accomplished, but his character didn't really impress me until 2003 or so. It was until age 33 or 34 that he began showing versatility.
Hey, i'm not debating this, I know orton has potential, I like him, all I'm saying is he did not pay his dues, so it would be a reasonable business decision to focus on someone else, not something stupid and foolish, like tgmiveld has suggested.
As for trips, I feel like it would also be reasonable to not put such faith in him on that time, but to a lesser extent, seeing as like you demonstrated, he spend very little time (3 years to get used to everything and shine is not such a bad time), AND there is the fact that his gimmick was a product of wwf(or was it wcw? can't remember), not himself, and he was mostly cricticized for it rather than his work. Also watching his work, there seemed to be some honest reactions, and the charisma was noticeable from the get-go
Randy Orton was initially pushed in 2004 to make people forget that Brock Lesnar had been the youngest world champion in WWE history.
After that, Orton didn't win a championship again until 2007. He had tagged with Edge and, seemingly, developed his own personality before our very eyes.
From 2007 to 2013, he's won 11 world championships feuding with talent WWE-developed talent for the most part
Randy Orton didn't spend a great deal of time wrestling seasoned talent that could elevate or challenge his position in the company.
With two world titles and two brands, he could easily be either a #1 heel or #1 face without opposition
It didn't help matters once Legacy broke up. Orton was the breakthrough star of that group despite being the eldest by a couple of years
I'm all for a renewal of him, but if even then he won't get high enough praises, then might as well let others take his place, there are better wrestlers and better characters who never got the chance.
