I thought some of you guys might get a kick out of this story (if you haven't heard about it already).

In 1986 this guy disappears into the woods in central Maine (the area where I live). Hell, this guy even went to the same high school as me, but he vanished when I was about 4 so NO - I did not know the guy. Its a long story (5 pages) but I thought it was a very interesting read. Have at it and let me know what you think if you feel like it.

For nearly thirty years, a phantom haunted the woods of Central Maine. Unseen and unknown, he lived in secret, creeping into homes in the dead of night and surviving on what he could steal. To the spooked locals, he became a legend—or maybe a myth. They wondered how he could possibly be real. Until one day last year, the hermit came out of the forest.

Well blame the GQ writer for that lol.

We've had winter storms here that people still talk about (ice storm of 98 for example) and this guy lived through them all - in a freaking tent in the woods.

How did he survive as a 4 year old on his own?

He was like 20 when he first went into the woods
This seriously sounds like you're sat there in a rocking chair with a tun of ice tea and a piece of straw in your mouth and I just don't know why. It's like your sat there and telling some grandkids a story. Them there woods took that boy from us one day and we never say him again until... Que fade away to flashback.

I feel like they could've shortened the story a little bit but meh it was still decently interesting.

The writer made it feel like a novel than an article but gotta say it was a good read.
