It's Ted. And WWE was not as big of a business/corporation as it was back then. Today, it's much more well known, and they have many more business opportunities to make the business grow. That's how business works.

Whether Batista's return has been positive is all theoretical at this time though (no PPV numbers have been released have they? I'm too lazy to hunt for ratings also), your logic is sound but Gohan has some sense too. His example of WCW sits true they wanted to cheer the NWO but were resisted creating issues with the userbase. You do have to acknowledge your fans' needs.
Yes, but WWE isn't necessarily that concerned about it at this point. There are way more casual fans than die hard fans, plus WWE is a much bigger company than it was in the 90s. Biggest flaws with Gohan's argument.

There are not that many die hard fans who want to see DB win the belt. Most of the fans today are casual fans who will keep watching WWE regardless of who's champion. Tickets will still sellout, hell, tickets for Summerslam 2014 have already sold out. I'd say WWE is in good shape going towards the future in terms of business. They have sponsors around the world, and with Batista, they'll be able to get more sponsors.

A better example could be Blockbuster I suppose, they were huge at one point but because people moved away from actual rentals to streaming they failed. I'm not supporting his idea but I get where he's coming from.
