For the time being, we won't operate using scoring, especially since this is a trial match, but it may be incorporated if we get the actual league going.

At this time, just post which gets your vote and comment as to why it gets your vote; essentially, Rate/Hate & vote.

No Flaming!

Chriss:
+: Excellent lighting, texture, and text.
-: Render is too dark. The patches of light around the render, specifically the one on top of the belt, are a little too bright and distracting.

Steve9:
+: Most everything (the text/texture/border/render) are crisp.
-: Text opacity is a little too low.

I find it funny that no one's doing concept banners yet, and that most everyone's using some kind of person as their focal point.

Anyway, my vote goes to Steve.

Both very nice pieces, my vote goes to Steve. I think he's customized that DBZ text a bit, as it looks different to the logo I recall.

Damn both are impressive works.

I'm going with Steve here but I must say both work are impressive.

Both are very impressive and Steve9' work looks very good with a high quality render, love the colors used.

Chriss' is good too and I love how the colors work with the render but the render seems a bit low quality, probably an old photo but oh well it doesn't matter that much.

Steve9 gets my vote though.

I think they're both pretty equal.

Chriss: I agree that the render is of lower quality, but I think it still works. I think the lighted area around Flair's head is too bright. Not a big fan of the font, but I think it looks okay when you look at the banner as a whole. I wish you would've drawn the diagonal lines down into the bottom left corner, cool effect! Nice work! I'd probably give it a 7.3/10.
Steve: The main render and outstretched line effect are awesome. My main gripe is the back picture. I feel like it needs to 'pop' a bit more to bring some more life to the banner. The logo doesn't really flow that well with the overall look. Good work! Probably a 7/10 for me.

Yeah, this one is close, but I have to give the nod to Chriss.

I like both pieces. Chriss I like the background effects, I just feel there's too much empty space around the sides and it's hard to differentiate between hair and light. Steves I like a lot, it captures the fun of the show. I go with Steve9

My vote goes to Chriss. I first looked at these yesterday and I was ready to vote for Steve based on first impression. But the more I look at them, the more I think otherwise.

Chriss - My original problem with this was that you had gone overboard with the effects but I dig it now. It passes for lighting while blending the render and the shape of the c4d's used creates a nice sense of direction and flow. The text is a bit akward though. I'd usually recommend drop shadows over strokes.

Steve9 - The colours and direction were what captured me at first, but now I'm looking past that and the way this piece was put together seems kinda lazy. The composition and focus is a bit better that Chriss', but the blending isn't very impressive. Simplicity didn't really work for this one.

I'm a DBZ fan so that scored some points with me. But even with the little biased aside I just feel it's the better work. Nothing over the top just simple and effective so went with Steve.

I too LOVE both of these. This was a hard one, but I like Steve9s best...easier on the eyes...

I vote for Steve!
(was that good, Steve? Can I get that 20 you owe me now?)

Chriss while you main render might not be the best quality, the coloration is quite good. Overall the effects work. I do think it is way too bright near Flair's head though. Steve, this is a vast improvement over some of your past stuff, but now you need to work on getting those really quality images to work with because over I feel like this isn't as crisp as it could be.

VOTE: Chriss
