For what it's worth I thought both were shitty/boring/stupid.

That angle was designed to make people say "Poor Roman. Baron and Dolph are such bastards! They're gonna get what's coming to them!" And maybe they achieved that with some people. But all it did for me was make me want to skip Smackdown next week.

First thing WWE did was tone down the sex in 2000, but blood continued for years.

WWE could easily do some rare blood angles and maintain a PG rating that satisfies who they need to.

Mattel's strongest edict to WWE was no men on women violence.

It should also be noted they only did a two-year extension so they might even pull out over unrelated matters.
