I *might* be a little bias on this one since Benoit's my favorite wrestler of all time, but dude looked like a million bucks. If he was a few inches taller and could cut a great promo (he was good on the mic), he'd probably have been a megastar.

Chris Benoit the wrestler was one of the best in ring performers I’ve ever seen. He was an underrated talker too. Was he Dusty on the mic? No but he could get his point across and convey proper emotion.

I voted for Angel Garza and everyone must be pantless during that Edition when it happens. When it comes to Benoit here are my rankings with him.

No matter your thoughts on what Benoit did he is still one of the best Wrestlers I've seen go inside that Ring. I might need to back and watch some of his stuff like his Best of 7 with Booker T to start off with.

Nah, Chris Benoit was a very good entertainer, and he's FAR more entertaining than someone as mediocre as Lacey Evans. Anyway, keep her irrelevant shit out of here.

As you can see he's terrible across the board which explains why he is one of the lowest drawing world champions in history. There's a lot more to being a wrestler/sports entertainer than play fighting, and he wasn't good at any of it. Had he spent more time learning how to cut a promo instead of doing suicide dives he (and his family) might still be alive right now and he might have been able to connect with fans.

 

[Loudon Wainwright]

Look/Presence: 8/10 - He was a midget, but he was built like a brick shithouse. The dude had some of the biggest arms on the roster. The roids definitely helped him in this regard.

In-Ring Ability: 9.4/10 - Benoit was arguably the greatest in-ring performer of all time. His abilities between the ropes were his main selling point. He had several classic bouts between a couple different promotions.

Charisma: 6/10

Mic Skills: 3/10 - The less said about his mic skills, the better.

These dudes capping. We got the likes of Chad Gable, Jason Jordan and Jinder Mahal pulling 5s and 6s in mic work and charisma, no fucking way any of them were better than Benoit.

I completely agree with your assessment, except id crank his mic skills up just a tad. Like to 2. If anyone can find that promo he had with Raven where he shared a poem with raven, its all time bad. It seems to me his promos didn't come off as staged only when he was saying stuff like this unfortunately. Life imitating art:

I don't think Benoit was as bad as some of these other posters, but I don't think he's that great either when it came to mic and charisma. I didn't rate those three either, but they would have been below Benoit, though.
