Zema Ion

Lately it appears as if TNA is pretty high on Zema Ion, putting him in a best of 3 series with Anthony Nese to determine the final entrant in the X-Division 4-Way Title Match at Genesis. They also appear to have given him a new gimmick, that of a pretty boy model type complete with hairspray that he brings to the ring with him. His backstage promo work also leads one to believe that he is a pompous and arrogant man who believes he is not only the best looking, but the best wrestler as well. This gimmick worked very well for Rick Martel back in the day, but I wonder if it will do the same for Ion. Clearly he seems to be primed to win this week's final match between he and Nese as well. So I ask you Impact Wrestling fans, what do you think of Zema Ion? Do you enjoy his gimmick? Do you think he's ready to hang with guys like Aries and Kash? Most important of all, do you care about the guy enough to buy into him?

At this point its hard for me to say with any certainty how I feel about him one way or the other, because he hasn't had enough time to wow me. I will say he has a tendency to be very spotty which can cause problems in the structure of his matches. It's my hope that he will learn how to tell a better story after working with guys like Aries and Kash at Genesis (if he makes it to that match). I find him obnoxious, so I guess the character is working the way it should.

Aries isn't pompous, he's arrogant and before you ask, there is a difference. Aries gimmick is that he's the best and he can go out and prove it every night. Ion's is that he's the prettiest. There's a major difference in gimmicks there.

Yes, because Austin Aeries invented being pompous. Somebody call nearly every heel in wrestling history, they'll be interested in this.
