1. King Diamond

Amazing vocalist, amazing lyricist, amazing storytelling (his solo albums are all conceptual) great frontman all around. Responsible for countless classics, and influencing Heavy Metal back in the heyday.

Legendary guitarist. Has written some of the coolest and most frightening riffs ever, also wrote most of Slayer's music in general. The heart and soul behind one of the greatest and most influential bands in the genre.

3. Trey Azagthoth

One of the most insane guitarists ever, pure fucking madness. Chaotic and relentless yet also mesmerizing and hypnotic. Founding member of the mighty MORBID ANGEL. Not only are his riffs pure evil, but his lyrics revolving around Ancient Gods and the Necronomicon are fucking badass too (to say the least).

I prefer the Dio era as well. Computer God, Sign of the Southern Cross, Heaven and Hell, Follow the Tears and Falling off the Edge of the World are definitely my favorites.
