WWE UK PRELUDE ~ ACT VIII - REPRECUSSIONS OF WARFARE
To say more eyes than ever were on the WWE United Kingdom Brand than ever following the latest Showcase would be an understatement. What with the addition of several noteworthy talents from across the pond arriving to the brand over the first few months and also the ensuing power struggle between Wade Barrett and Katarina Leigh. Yet we wouldn't get right into this following the Showcase as before we got there was a special four night event dedicated to the King of the Ring tournament. For the second time since the brand's inception, WWE UK would be hosting the King of the Ring but for the first time instead of being simply apart of the show. This time around it would be made into a series of special events taking place over the course of four nights.
The tournament this year would feature a more standard 32 man field with talents from Raw, Smackdown, NXT, WWE UK, NXT Mexico and also NXT Japan. Along with these talents would be two returning veterans from WWE Chris Masters and Evan Bourne. These events would all take place in the Electric Ballroom in Camden before a lively crowd. Over the course of the first two days of this tournament we'd see the opening round matches take place and we'd see several noted stories begin to play out. The first of which was both Evan Bourne and Chris Masters looking to reclaim their past glory. We'd also see Morgan Webster be forced to deal with an early rib injury sustained in his match with Masaaki Mochizuki. While in what was a stunning moment. Trent Seven's attempts to disrespect his opponent and the crowd would backfire leading to Seven being knocked out with a black mass and pinned in under ten seconds.
Opening Round
Evan Bourne defeated Dragon -- Mark Andrews defeated El Hijo Del Vikingo -- Morgan Webster defeated Masaaki Mochizuki -- Averno defeated EITA
Aleister Black defeated Trent Seven - Tyler Bate defeated Gabriel Kidd -- Roderick Strong defeated Drew Gulak -- Pete Dunne defeated Katsuya Kitamura
Kip Sabian defeated Mick Moretti -- Hirooki Goto defeated Tony Nese -- Bandido defeated Adam Brooks -- Shelton Benjamin defeated Puma King
T-Hawk defeated Ashton Smith -- Mike Kanellis defeated Ben Carter -- Chris Masters defeated Brian Kendrick -- Joe Hendry defeated Ilja Dragunov
For night three we'd be treated to the second round of the tournament which got off to a rousing start when former enemies and at one point partners collided when Pete Dunne battled Roderick Strong. In what was a hard hitting bout Dunne would win but sadly for British Strong Style this would be their only success when Tyler Bate later fell to a black mass by the hands of Aleister Black. This would be after some interference by Millie McKenzie backfired and allowed the former NXT champion to capitalize. One person who was able to firmly capitalize however was that of Mike Kanellis. As for his second straight match in the tournament Mike Kanellis had been able to make use of tainted methords and means to defeat a foe who up until that point appeared to have Kanellis' number. Meanwhile Morgan Webster would continue to display his heart as he defeated Averno despite his injuries.
Second Round
Mark Andrews defeated Evan Bourne -- Morgan Webster defeated Averno -- Aleister Black defeated Tyler Bate -- Pete Dunne defeated Roderick Strong
Hirooki Goto defeated Kip Sabian -- Bandido defeated Shelton Benjamin -- Mike Kanellis defeated T-Hawk -- Joe Hendry defeated Chris Masters
For the fourth and final night we'd very much get a one night tournament feel with the quarter finals, semi finals and finals all taking place over the course of one night. Kicking things off we'd see Morgan Webster again continue his unlikely underdog story as he defeated his longtime friend Mark Andrews. His match in the semi finals would then be decided when Pete Dunne got some retribution for his British Strong Style teammates as he put away Aleister Black in a hard hitting bout which saw Dunne himself order his team mates backstage. Bandido would be the third man to advance following a back and forth clash between Hirooki Goto which very much was looked upon as a clash between tournament favorites while Mike Kanellis continued his run of tainted victories with an illegal assist to defeat Joe Hendry.
This brought us to the semi finals and we'd see perhaps one of the most impressive and shocking showings of the entire tournament. As Morgan Webster who up until the King of the Ring had been labelled with a bit player and mid carder marker. Entered in a career best showing despite his rib injury against Pete Dunne, refusing to stay down and showing a heart and fire that hadn't been seen previously. Webster would eventually pick up the upset of all upsets on Pete Dunne after hitting him with his Brit Pop Drop. With Webster in the finals he'd soon be joined by an old rival Mike Kanellis who in a stark contrast to Webster. Hadn't relied on heart or skill as opposed to crooked means and interference from his allies Tony Nese, Drew Gulak, Curtis Axel, Bo Dallas and Maria to get ahead. This is how he'd pick up a highly tainted and controversial win over Bandido to make it to the finals.
During the final clash of these rivals we'd see Kanellis yet again look to pull every trick out in the book as his cronies flanked the ringside area. Yet soon much to his horror it appeared that his actions through the tournament would come to bite him as Bandido, Mark Andrews, Adam Brookes and T-Hawk would all arrive and brawl with the Throne to the back. Sadly though in this ensuing brawl Morgan Webster would be temporarily distracted as he stopped Maria throwing in a pair of brass knuckles and this allowed Kanellis to land a lowblow before rolling up Webster to pick up a tainted victory and claim the King of the Ring trophy for himself. To say that the ego of Mike Kanellis and his group would grow following this would be an understatement as the group christened themselves the throne with Mike and Maria as it's King and Queen at the top.
Of course with his antics Mike Kanellis would only further draw himself the attention of one Joe Hendry. The Local Hero was far from impressed with how the so called King of WWE UK conducted himself and he continued to put together various songs in tribute to the Throne and Maria Kanellis. Yet like everyone else who stood against Kanellis, Hendry would constantly have to endure the numbers game while it seemed apparent that Kanellis was looking to prove a point against the Local Hero. As he didn't just want Joe beaten but he wanted him kneeling before Kanellis accepting him as his king. What Kanellis didn't count on however was his reign putting quite a few people against him as Hendry while very much a lone wolf when it came to alliances. Would soon find himself joined and aided by Morgan Webster and Adam Brookes as they swore to tear down the Throne.
SUPER PROSPECT
Ever since WWE UK launched it's performance center there had been a number of talents who received high praise for their efforts and potential. Yet perhaps none have earned higher praises than that of the self dubbed Super Prospect Sadie Gibbs. Known to some by her undeniable moniker Gibbs was touted as a skilled gymnast who matched her athleticism with strength in a manner few possessed. Some even touted Sadie Gibbs as a Brock Lesnar esque prospect for the UK Brand. To those who had seen her compete in a short run in Japan and also her time on the indies Sadie Gibbs had shown herself worthy of the moniker of undeniable. But here since her arrival on the main shows of WWE UK she truly proved that she very much was.
It started with a dominant showing over Zoe Lucas before Sadie would pick up victories over the likes of Chakara, Melanie Price, Sierra Loxton, Nightshade and Charlie Owens. Yet with this win streak Sadie Gibbs soon drew the attention of two recent arrivals to WWE UK. This being Aliyah and Vanessa Borne who had taken advantage of WWE UK's open door policy. The Borne N Bouji pairing first offered Gibbs a partnership with them which Sadie refused. However as we'd soon find Aliyah and Borne wouldn't take this laying down as following another dominant Sadie performance against Skye Smitson, we'd see Gibbs be attacked by Borne and Aliyah who'd mockingly take turns covering Gibbs before boasting that they'd ended her streak.
The Upper Class
A story which hadn't just continued but magnified since Showcase was that of EC3 and Spike Trivet. Having been defeated and humiliated at the Showcase, Spike Trivet vowed that he would get revenge on EC3. Yet it was clear that he wasn't just angry at EC3 as he looked in the weeks following to settle a score with Ilja Dragunov. Yet rather than climb in the ring himself he'd demand Ridge Holland do it and he couldn't harbor his disgust when Ridge Holland would be defeated by Ilja Dragunov at the end of a hard fought match. This seemed to further highlight that Trivet had in fact deemed Holland as worthless and was blaming him for their defeat at the UK Showcase.
In the weeks that followed Trivet would participate in a series of squashes where he destroyed out matched opponents all the while ordering Holland to the back. This didn't appear to fly with Holland who expressed his frustration at the way he was being treated. Recognizing this from Ridge Holland, EC3 would encourage Holland to break free and go out on his own. However Holland in turn would remark that he was with Trivet for the money as he strictly needed the finances provided by Trivet. However EC3 would counter with a simple proposal. That being that Holland in turn work for him but not as a trouble shooter or anything like that but rather as wrestler he'd get a chance to prove his own worth. This seemed to be something that Holland would consider as in the weeks which followed Ridge Holland picked up a series of wins.
After one particular performance however Holland was confronted in the ring by Spike Trivet. Despite Holland's wins, Trivet was far from impressed with what he had seen as he berated Holland and told him to remember where his place was. Soon however EC3 would arrive on the scene as he remarked that Holland was a free man and he didn't have to work for Trivet anymore. This further incensed Trivet who demanded that Holland leave with him now. Instead Holland was met with cheers as he shoved Trivet to the ground leading to Trivet rolling out of the ring. As EC3 dared him to reenter the ring Trivet backed his way up the ramp until Holland blasted EC3 from behind. The crowd in attendance was in shock as Holland spiked EC3 into the canvas with Northern Grit before he'd leave the ring with a smirk on his face and join Trivet on the ramp.
New Blood Rising
One thing that would remain consistent in the months which followed the Showcase despite all the turmoil. Was that WWE UK would continue to showcase the best up and coming talent. One name in particular who came into focus these months was that of Laura Di Matteo who had returned to the brand in the qualifying matches for War of Attrition. On her own this time around the no nonsense Matteo looked to be a pure wrestler to the tee. As Not only would she stay away from a lot of the chaos and drama but she'd also mentor those she saw willing to learn. Including Candy Floss who following the Showcase had found herself particularly targeted and mocked by the House of Couture. Although as we'd see it wouldn't just be Candy Floss who Di Matteo would help act as a mentor for.
Since her villainous turn many months ago in the run up to War of Attrition, we'd seen a lot more violent and vicious behavior from Kasey Owens. Yet one moment in particular stood out and that was a vicious attack from Owens on a fan at ringside after the fan tried to stop her brutalizing Kai with a chair. In a later interview we'd learn this fan was named Kanji and had been a lifelong wrestling fan. While she may have gotten away with crossing the line once it appeared that Kasey Owens' wasn't content with this one incident as she'd continue to attempt to intimidate Kanji whenever she could. This would be until one night where Kasey Owens defeated Dakota Kai in a no holds barred clash and prepared to dole out more damage on Kai when Kanji hopped the rail and rushed the ring. To the surprise of everyone however not only did Kanji duck a clothesline by Owens but she'd then take Owens down to the canvas with an arm drag before following up with a dropkick.
In the aftermath of this Katarina Leigh would reveal that Kanji had in fact began training as a wrestler and had been mentored personally by both Dakota Kai and Laura Di Matteo. Sadly though despite this impressive first burst when it came to Kanji's early matches in the ring she'd suffer some heart break with tag team defeats caused by her inexperience to Borne N' Bouji and also Australia's Hottest Commodities. In the post match of this Kanji would be assaulted by Kasey Owens proving that this feud is far from over. While the debuting Kanji may not have had much success, the debuting pair known as Australia's Hottest Commodities would. The duo of Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta very much showed themselves to be social media obsessed influencers who in between matches would post tik toks and stories of them in the ring. Yet their attitude seemed to make them few friends in particular Dakota Kai who was far from impressed with them.
Another team who had not long arrived on the scene was Team White Wolf. Led by Mariah May, Team White Wolf had picked up a few impressive wins before they'd be confronted by Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan. Considering themselves the barometer for the division, Burch and Lorcan issued a challenge to Team White Wolf to see where they really stood in the tag team division. Of course as we'd find when the match took place Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch proved to be a little too much for White Wolf as they managed to put them away in a hard hitting clash. Yet while A-Kid and Carlos Romo may have earned some respect from Burch and Lorcan, it seemed they didn't earn the respect of the Foreign Legion who proceeded to mock White Wolf for the setbacks.
One last debut which had not yet happened was that of Nathan Cruz and his girlfriend Katherine Darcy (the former Chardonnay). The veteran Cruz of course had previously made some appearances in the early days of the WWE United Kingdom Brand, had returned to the indies before spending some time in the UK performance Center. Here not only had Cruz changed his wrestling character to that of a more serious personality but he'd also morphed his physique. He'd be joined by the former Charonnay who was now under her real name of Katherine Darcy. Darcy very much was shown to be a trouble maker in these vignettes with Cruz shown to be the paranoid, possessive boyfriend who promised his baby superstardom in WWE UK.
True Colors Shining Through
During Wade Barrett's regime change a lot of tough decisions and choices had to be made. One person who seemed to be on Wade's radar was that of Toni Storm. As while Storm may have been a semi finalist in the UK women's tournament when it first took place. Since that time she'd firmly been apart of the mid card scene with some fringe main event bouts to her credit. This faltering had been muttered by some who pondered if Toni was perhaps just hype. This was a key reason in Emma's taunting of Storm during their rivalry. Yet one person who refuted this openly was Wade Barrett, in fact Barrett would approach Storm before several of her matches wishing her luck.
While Storm at first may have been dubious of this and questioned Wade's agenda. Soon it appeared that Wade's words would have an effect as he spoke of where Toni was and what he believed her to be capable of. These words seemed to be taken to heart by Toni Storm and later that night she'd take part in a shocking assault orchestrated on Jinny on her old friend Tegan Nox. This was then followed by Storm showing a new side to her personality with some conceited arrogance and a mean streak we had yet to see previously from her in her time with the UK Brand.
However it wouldn't just be Storm who we'd see this behavioral shift from in this period. One person who very much seemed to walk the line in the Barrett regime change was Kay Lee Ray. Always a lone wolf it appeared that Kay Lee Ray was firmly in this for her own best interests and had little interest in being involved in any drama involving the general manager conflict. In fact during this assault she'd refuse to take part but in refusing to take part she'd become a victim herself when Emma joined in an attack with Toni Storm on her. This would force Kay Lee Ray's hand and we'd see Kay Lee Ray standby Tegan Nox setting up a tag team match which saw Kay Lee Ray and Tegan Nox unite to beat Storm and Emma.
Swimming with Sharks
Since going in singles and embracing his loner mentality Rampage Brown had truly been like a total different breed. With dominant performances one after another, Yet after his win from Bronson Reed. It appeared that Brown couldn't just brush the next person to stand off from him away. As the person in question was Rampage Brown's former tag team partner and student Ashton Smith. Since returning from injury Smith had also put together quite a successful run as a singles competitor. Yet Smith couldn't help but express his concern and curiosity at this new side shown to Rampage Brown. Especially with what Smith mentioned was a curious part of his relationship to Metehan Hakan Aslan who had been present at all of Brown's matches in the crowd.
This wouldn't be a random question either as comments made from John Gooden at points on commentary highlighted Metehan as a 'well connected' businessman and during a later interview Metehan would reveal that he'd put a heavy 'investment' into Rampage Brown. Smith for one couldn't believe that Brown would align himself with someone like Metehan but as Brown later revealed he didn't have a choice and in a desperate moment he took a loan from the wrong people and got in deep with the sharks. Sadly for Smith his attempts to talk to Brown and help him would put Smith firmly in Metehan's evil eye as Metehan would have charges like Caleb Valhalla and Rohan Raja attack Smith while making Brown watch or join in the attacks.
Having been burned one time too many Ashton Smith went from wanting to help Brown to settling a score with Metehan and then his former partner. Yet before he'd do so the story would take a fascinating twist when Metehan was beaten down with his subjects laid to waste also by Wonderland. Under the orders of the Red Queen Isla Dawn, Metehan would then be taken and transformed into her caterpillar. Yet this left some uncertainty for Brown as while he no longer had the threat of Metehan over his head, he wouldn't be out of the woods just yet as Ashton Smith blasted him with a superkick making it clear that they was far from settled.
UnCommonwealth
Having captured the Commonwealth Championship and saved his career. It appeared that Kassius Ohno had the full intention to bring a prestige and honor to this belt. In order to do so Ohno would begin working matches under traditional world of sport rules in an effort to honor british wrestling while introducing a new means to set his championship apart. Defending his belt on every show Kassius Ohno very much left an open door policy to his opponents and would take on all comers including memorable matches with UK wrestling stalwarts Johnny Kidd, Phil Powers and James Mason to his credit. Yet as these matches continued to take place and Ohno would retain it appeared that he developed a 'fan' as watching these matches on intently would be "The Cheshire" Joseph Conners.
The sadistic Conners watched these matches with a creepy smirk on his face at all times but never seemed to have any intent regarding taking a challenge himself. This would be until Kassius Ohno battled Kieran Kelly and despite a spirited effort it was clear the youngster was overmatched. Conners hit the ring and pulled Kelly out under the ropes before driving him into the floor with the Don't Look Down. This would put Ohno firmly in Conners' crosshairs yet in the week's which followed Ohno was not only forced to see Conners again attack another one of his opponents this time veteran Jonny Storm. But also Ohno would be the recipient of a blindside assault by Conners' cohort "The Knave" Jurn simmons.
Crossfire
It seemed following this past showcase a decree was made by Isla Dawn. This would be that her kingdom play a lot more physical role in the UK brand. We'd see that already from Joseph Conners targeting Kassius Ohno and it was also noted in "The March Hare" Aivil participating in the War of Attrition series qualification matches. Yet what Isla didn't seem to predict was these actions drawing the attention of Nikki Cross who seemed to want to bring the fight to Wonderland claiming she knew their secret. After a series of wild brawls Nikki managed to defeat Aivil in what was Aivil's send off match with the promotion as she announced her retirement.
Yet it seemed with Aivil defeated Cross wasn't finished as she'd come into conflict with "the White Rabbit" Jayde. In a similar fashion to Aivil, Cross would take part in a series of brawls with Jayde which very much showed a new side to the usual happy and upbeat White Rabbit. After one particularly hard hitting match which Cross again won it seemed her attacks against the Kingdom had gone too far as she'd be viciously attacked by Isla Dawn herself. Promising that she would not standby and allow someone to launch these attacks on her kingdom, Isla pledged that she would remove this threat to the Kingdom as a no holds barred clash was announced for the upcoming Showcase.
Clash at Commentary
A key part of Wade Barrett's 'regime' change it seemed was to dress up what was a complete hostile takeover as the brand as a righting of the ship. A key component for Wade to inspire hearts and minds for this approach it seemed was to use Eddie Dennis as a herald of sorts. Placing Dennis on commentary to feed into this narrative and push all the positives of what Wade was doing for the brand. It seemed to only be a matter of time before Eddie Dennis and Doug Williams would come into further conflict with one another. This thanks in part to Doug feeling betrayed by Wade because of Wade using their past friendship as a means to gather intelligence on Katarina Leigh before launching the takeover.
Williams was very outspoken about his disgust at Wade's play and he couldn't remain impartial forever especially when Eddie Dennis also began making sniping and snide remarks to Doug Williams. Despite Williams' best attempts to keep his head down under the circumstances, there was only a limit to how far his tolerance can go. Especially when Dennis began making remarks about Williams' career. Eventually Doug Williams would be pushed too far and he'd strike Eddie Dennis much to the delight of the audience in attendance. Sadly the ramifications of such would lead to a suspension which would be ended by the returning Katarina Leigh. From here despite his best attempts to still remain professional Doug made it clear that he'd love nothing more than one more match against Eddie Dennis.
Tag Team Trauma
Having defeated the duo of the Foreign Legion at the last showcase, the tag team champions Aussie Open seemed raring to go to find their next challengers ahead of them. They wouldn't have look far either as shortly after the Showcase Opus Dei would win a tag team battle royal in an effort to claim the contendership. Keeping up a trend which has long followed this pairing Noam Dar very much relished in doing the talking for his time while Mark Coffey seemed more poised to act as the muscle and trouble shooter for the duo. This would be on firm display when Dar would gatecrash an Aussie Open duo as a distraction for Coffey to blindside the pair.
In the weeks that followed this Aussie Open would do all they could to get retribution against the challengers. But it seemed that Noam Dar and Mark Coffey were always a step ahead with Dar proving himself to be highly slippery with an escape route always in mind. Along with this Dar would always be quick to get on a microphone to bash Aussie Open and their title reign. Adding further to Opus Dei's confidence was their track record as of late as they'd pick up some impressive victories over teams such as Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan building their momentum more so in the run up to the Showcase.
Not so Strong Style
Having been able to defeat and disband Sanity at the previous Showcase. It appeared that British Strong Style despite their tag team title loss were riding a high. However to those in the know there was still some issues with the faction. Namely it seemed that Pete Dunne wasn't a fan of the groups methods or tactics for that matter as of late. From showing restraint in the Wade Barrett regime change to not liking Seven blindsiding Nikki Cross and also refusing outside interference during the King of the Ring tournament. It seemed that Pete Dunne was firmly set in bringing a sense of honor back to British Strong Style as he called them the foundation of UK wrestling. Looking to rebuild their reputation Pete Dunne without consulting his cohorts would look to add to their group with Gabriel Kidd.
Kidd had previously had some matches with Bate and also against Bate and Seven. While he'd come up short in these matches, he'd seem to have made an impression on Dunne who looked to add him to their fold. Yet this didn't quite seem to sit with any of the group as Trent Seven deemed Kidd unworthy while at points came into conflict with Dunne over leadership of the faction. While Bate and McKenzie never seemed to question the order it seemed that both Tyler Bate and Millie McKenzie seemed to take a lot of enjoyment out of torturing the young prospect whenever they could get their hands on him. While Kidd remained dubious of Dunne's offer to join them, he was seemingly swayed by Dunne's genuine praise of him and want to give him a trial to join their stable.
Yet as we'd come to find not everything would be straightforward with this as the planned trial was to be a tag team match featuring Gabriel Kidd teaming with Pete Dunne to battle against Tyler Bate and Trent Seven. Sadly though when it came time for the trial to take place Pete Dunne was nowhere to be seen and Gabriel Kidd was forced to go it alone against Tyler and Trent. Despite putting in a spirited effort, Kidd was overwhelmed by the numbers game and eventually put away with a vicious spike pile driver by the duo which again further showcased the enjoyment that the rest of BSS took in torturing this young man. The following week a remorseful Pete Dunne was highly apologetic of such a showcase as he revealed he had endured travel issues which caused him to no show the event. This however wouldn't be recognized by Kidd who attacked Dunne leading to a match between the two which saw Dunne victorious,
The war of the Roses
To say that WWE UK has been in a time of turmoil would be a vast understatement. While Wade Barrett may have proclaimed his acts to be a self less act as he sought to better the UK brand and right the ship under his leadership. His actions and methods attained a lot of scrutiny from many of the UK fans who saw his acts as a hostile takeover of the brand which was operating fine under the leadership of Katarina Leigh. While things seemed to run smoothy at least by Wade Barrett's definition of the word. It was apparent that Barrett's overhaul of the brand would only suit those who went along with his way of business. Those who stood against it would suffer by his wrath and unfavorable booking.
The return of Katarina Leigh further muddied the waters. As while an attack by Finn Balor took Barrett away from the show for a few weeks and allowed Katarina to bring back what she intended to be a level playing field. It was apparent that especially in her dealings with individuals like Jinny and Fabian Aichner. That Katarina was also struggling to remain impartial against those who'd aided Wade Barrett with the takeover in the first place. This would create quite an uneasy environment for many of the talents of the roster as it seemed that in order to survive you'd have to pick a side.
Following another roster wide brawl orchestrated by the return of Wade Barrett. During which this time we'd see both Wade and Katarina physically get involved in the fight against talents on the roster. The show however would close with a startling appearance of one William Regal who'd arrived in the parking lot of the arena and soon caught wind of the building wide insanity. The following week William Regal closed out the show with an impassioned promo before the fans of WWE UK. Revealing he was here on behalf of WWE management to correct things with the brand, William Regal couldn't hide his sadness at what had become of the brand.
Calling out Wade Barrett and Katarina Leigh one after the other as he spoke of his history with the two and complimented both on many traits he saw as positives. Regal soon saw fit to chastise them both on their actions which he felt besmirched what the brand was meant to be. Regal then followed by personally calling out Finn Balor and Fabian Aichner both of whom he praised as two of the faces of the brand. Yet he could not condone their parts or anyone's for that matter in this war. Looking to end it all once and for all Regal announced that the next Showcase would be a two night event in the theme of the war of the roses and each night would be headlined by a ten person tag team match containing representatives of Wade Barrett and Katarina Leigh with the winning side maintaining control of the brand and the loser being removed from power entirely.
Just wanted to update you all. This was the end of the recaps. I know walls of text can be a bit hard to get to so thank you for persevering. From here we shall get to the shows
Can't wait to read the actual shows now - been slowly catching up and been enjoying the backstory/past history that you've presented us all with, especially those that weren't from WC.
WWE UK
EPISODE 128 | 25/4/20 FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE
BRIGHTON DOME | BRIGHTON, ENGLAND
DARK MATCH: CANDY FLOSS VS. ALEX WINDSOR
For the first time since the original UK women's title tournament, Alex Windsor would step foot inside a WWE UK ring. Her opponent for this return match was of course a cult favorite among UK fans Candy Floss. The ever plucky, crowd favorite found herself with quite a stiff test as it was clear that her opponent had no fondness whatsoever for the young babyface or her antics. Following a surprisingly hard hitting match which most saw Candy Floss fighting from underneath against Windsor's onslaught, we'd see Candy Floss pick up the submission victory after trapping her in the Candy Snap (Rings of Saturn).
WINNER: CANDY FLOSS (4:01)
DARK MATCH: DAKOTA KAI VS. STEVIE TURNER
The second match on the pre-show featured the first appearance of "The Four Dimensional Superstar" Stevie Turner. The self proclaimed Data Collecter for WWE UK, Stevie Turner in her pre match promo swore to show the wrestling world a competitor unlike they've ever seen before. Her opponent for this match would be a WWE UK stalwart Dakota Kai. This would be quite the strong style contest between the two as Turner showed herself unafraid to mix it up in the striking department with the much more experience Dakota Kai. Unsurprisingly the crowd in attendance was solidly behind Kai in this bout as Turner's attitude very much rubbed everyone in attendance the wrong way. While Turner may have had some moments in this match it was the experience and striking acumen of Kai which lead to Dakota's win as she put away Turner with the Kairopractor.
WINNER: DAKOTA KAI (6:32)
Kicking off tonight's edition of WWE UK would be a video package highlighting all the events of the past week's show. With the brand's newest theme song Dear Life by Chasing Cadence playing in the background, this video would first begin to focus on Ridge Holland's dominant squash victory over Colossus Kennedy before he'd be joined in the ring by Spike Trivet. Trivet of course as Holland's employer would claim to be far from impressed with Holland or his performance but before Spike could berate Holland further he'd be confronted by EC3 who proclaimed Holland to be a free man now. This led to Holland shoving Spike to the mat and Trivet making a swift exit from the ring. Yet while EC3 started to dare Spike to reenter the ring, this was all revealed to be a ruse thanks to a blindside attack on EC3 by Holland. Another key moment focused on was a group in ring promo by Adam Brooks, Joe Hendry and Morgan Webster where this makeshift trio pledged to crumble the Throne. Of course this talk however would soon be met with the arrival of Maria Kanellis.
Kanellis was livid at these in her words mindless threats against the true Royal family of the United Kingdom. Calling this a pure act of treason which will not go unpunished. Maria openly remarked that Hendry will soon enough bow to her king and take his rightful place as the jester for the Throne. Yet while Hendry's time would be coming soon it would not be as soon as Morgan Webster and Adam Brooks who she branded as peasants. Stating that for them their crimes against the Throne will be handled immediately, Maria would introduce Riddick Moss and Tino Sabatelli as a pair of personal executioners who will make sure they are punished for their treasonous actions. The final segment highlighted was the in ring promo by William Regal in which he not only promised to restore order to the UK brand but also announced the Team Wade vs. Team Katarina bouts for the Showcase with the losing team's representative being stripped of their power.
With that the show would officially open from inside the Brighton Dome in Brighton, England. With a lively crowd of around three thousand people in attendance, the cameras take their time to pan around many of the sections of the audience. From here we are directed to our commentary table where John Gooden starts to dutifully open tonight's show. Sadly he is not even a few seconds in when the bickering between his colleagues Eddie Dennis and Doug Williams begins once again. As per the usual Eddie Dennis is the instigator and Williams is more than willing to rise to the bait. Following a back and forth argument breaking out between the pair Williams took a swing at Eddie Dennis leading to a scuffle breaking out between the pair.
The crowd in attendance cheers as Williams tackles Dennis sending both men over the announcers table as the fight goes to ringside. While Williams manages to land a few strikes in the scuffle, it doesn't take long for security to arrive on the scene and quickly been containing the situation. Slowly a livid William Regal heads to ringside and he wastes little time in gaining complete control of the situation. Refusing to allow either man to further derail the show Regal orders security to escort both men from the building promptly. The crowd in attendance cannot help but boo this decision as Regal then walks over to John Gooden before he announces that being that his job currently is to make sure the brand runs smoothly. He will be joining John Gooden on commentary for the night so that John doesn't have to go it alone.
Much to the delight of the crowd in attendance EC3's theme begins to play as the Top One Percenter walks out from the back. EC3 doesn't waste much time in making his way down to the ring as he clearly is all business tonight. Once in the ring EC3 snatches himself a microphone from Andy Shepherd before he immediately begins talking about what transpired last week. Admitting that Spike and Ridge Holland got him good, EC3 says that he never quite expected there to be someone out there as vile, underhanded and manipulative as Spike Trivet yet here he stands having learned there is in fact someone just that. Stating that it is clear now that Spike Trivet and Ridge Holland are truly made for one another.
Giving the duo a little credit as EC3 says that it is rare for someone to get one over on him especially on such a grand scale. EC3 follows by warning Spike and Holland that where they made a mistake was by not finishing the job. Stating that leaving EC3 breathing and simply humiliated doesn't mean he will turn around and run away. Instead he calls it the biggest mistake this duo have made because while EC3 may have just enjoyed getting under Trivet's skin previously. Now it is personal for him and he doesn't intend to just leave Spike Trivet and Ridge Holland laying and humiliated like they did to him. Instead his goal is to cut the head off of the snake for the entire world to witness. With that the fired up EC3 tosses the microphone to the mat and leaves the ring while the crowd in attendance applaud and cheer.
~ HOUSE RULES ~
From here the cameras direct us towards the offices of Wade Barrett. Noticeably without his bodyguard Andre Tyson present, a smiling Wade Barrett stands in front of his desk as he begins to address the two elimination tag team matches at the upcoming Showcase. Stating that he will happily captain the men's team to victory as if there is one thing he has proven through his time with WWE it's that he is truly a skilled general and leader of men. Which is why when it came to the women's elimination tag team match he needed a captain with that very same mentality. With that Wade proudly introduces the UK women's champion Jinny as the team captain for his women's team. As Jinny joins him, Wade tells her that he wants her to assemble the best team possible with absolutely no expense spared. With a confident smirk on her face Jinny says that he can count on it as recruitment begins tonight!
~ PERFECT BY NATURE ~
A video package then plays to Everybody's Fool by Evanescence. This video package focuses on the former Intercontinental and former multiple time tag team champion Curtis Axel and his WWE career. The multiple generational superstar and son of the legendary "Mr. Perfect" speaks over the video about his career so far. Admitting that there is a lot of pressure coming from being the latest in the Hennig bloodline. Curtis admits that in the past the pressure got to him and he tried to hard to recreate the success of his father and grandfather. Stating that in a sink or swim business it is rare for someone to offer someone a life preserver when they are drowning but that is what the Throne has done for him.
Stating that he isn't a follower or just a humble foot soldier. Curtis Axel makes it clear that he is with Mike Kanellis one hundred percent out of loyalty to his friend who helped him at his lowest. Now not only does he get to support his friend but he also has the chance to restart himself away from his legacy. A chance to start a new in the UK and show the world that Curtis Axel is more than just the latest Hennig. This is why he has an extra bit of anticipation for tonight with his match with Joe Hendry. As not only does he get to shut up Hendry once and for all and bring a stop to his attacks against the Throne. But he also gets to show the world the real Curtis Axel for the Axeman Cometh.
MATCH #1: TAG TEAM MATCH (Referee: Thomas Scarborough)
MORGAN WEBSTER AND ADAM BROOKS VS. RIDDICK MOSS AND TINO SABATELLI
The bell rings to kickstart our opening contest of the evening. This would very much be a styles clash of a contest because on one side of the ring you had the fast paced daredevils Morgan Webster and Adam Brooks against the more powerhouse and brawling styles of Riddick Moss and Tino Sabatelli. With Maria Kanellis on commentary we'd see Moss and Tino very much controlled the early going. This was down to them isolating Morgan Webster and seeking to punish his lower back. Eager for a tag Adam Brooks did all he could to rally behind Webster and get the crowd behind him. This led to Webster managing to put down Tino with a DDT and allowed him to make the much needed tag out to Brooks. In the ring with a full head of steam, Adam Brooks was like a man possessed taking on both men until out of nowhere Webster crushed Moss with a spear. This allowed Brooks to catch Tino with a face breaker to pick up the win!
SHEPHERD: And the winners of the match Morgan Webster and Adam Brooks! (7:45)
The crowd in attendance cheers as the announcement is made and Adam Brooks takes a knee in the ring. Once he is up and to his feet Adam Brooks is joined by Morgan Webster and the victorious duo hug one another in celebration of their win. At ringside a livid Maria Kanellis looks on shaking her head in disgust. Soon however the celebration is cut short as Brooks and Webster are blindsided by Drew Gulak and Tony Nese. Gulak is quick to ground Webster and clamp on a tight Dragon Sleeper on him, all the while Nese works Brooks into the corner and proceeds to land three straight running Nese strikes right to his face. The crowd in attendance erupts into boos as Gulak then releases the hold before he and Nese stand over Brooks and Webster while Maria applauds their efforts.
~ KNOCKED DOWN BUT NOT OUT ~
Following the match on the titantron footage plays of an interview taped from earlier this evening. Joining Joanna Rose for this interview is the Knockout Artist Kassius Ohno. The current reigning Commonwealth Champion is all business during this interview as he addresses his issues as of late with Joseph Conners. Remarking that he is sick of Conners watching from a far and refusing to get his hands dirty. Daring Conners to get his hands dirty, Kassius Ohno then turns his attention to Jurn Simmons. Staring that Simmons has at least opted to get his hands dirty, Kassius Ohno challenges Jurn Simmons to a match next week. He then closes out the interview by offering Simmons a title shot should he accept.
~ A FRIEND IN NEED ~
Footage filmed from earlier in the day is then shown and it takes place at the UK Performance Center. While Kanji is working dutifully inside one of the many training rings. Her workout however is soon cut short by a frustrated Dakota Kai. Despite Kai's concerns, Kanji makes it clear that she has to do this and settle things with Owens once and for all. Slowly it seems Kai is won over by Kanji's request as she promises to support Kanji in whatever way she can.
~ GODS' WILL ~
Right before the second match of the evening can take place, the cameras quickly direct us to the hallway of the building. This is per the words of John Gooden who reveals this is a replay of something which happened in the previous moments and was caught by CCTV. On the cameras we see Aussie Open making their arrival to the building only to be met by Noam Dar. While the audio is far from clear it appears that Dar managed to antagonize the duo as they began to walk Dar down. This was reveled to be part of a ruse however as Mark Coffey comes up behind the duo and blasts Mark Davis over the back with a chair. Davis falls to the ground and Dar headbutts Kyle Fletcher wobbling him. This allows Coffey to drill Fletcher with the chair as well. With the champions down Dar and Coffey begin to put the boots to them until security and officials arrive on the scene to break things up.
MATCH #2: SINGLES MATCH (Referee: Darryl Sharma)
ISLA DAWN w/JAYDE VS. ALEAH JAMES
"The Red Queen" Isla Dawn would then make her in ring debut in the next bout of the night. With her herald Jayde in her corner for this we'd very much see a dominant performance by Isla Dawn against the plucky Aleah James. Shown to be perhaps the best tactician we'd see yet from Wonderland, Ilsa Dawn was cool, calm and collected in her dissection of Aleah. After only a couple of minutes of action, Isla Dawn had Aleah reeling following a half nelson suplex and she wasted little time in finishing her opponent with the Spider's Web.
SHEPHERD:
And the winner of the match Isla Dawn!
(3:21)
The crowd boos as the announcement is made and Isla Dawn rises to her feet. The Red Queen is quickly joined by Jayde in the ring who insists on raising her queen's arm in the air. With that Isla Dawn and Jayde leave the ring as the referee checks on Aleah James.
~ RESPECT IS EARNED ~
Footage shot from earlier in the evening by a fans' phone is then shown as it focuses on Team White Wolf and Mariah May making their arrival to the building. As they head to the entrance of the building they are surprised to find Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan waiting for them. It is clear that there is a lot of respect between both teams as they begin to talk what comes next for them. Respectfully it seems that both A-Kid and Carlos Romo are looking for a rematch with Burch and Lorcan. Never one to turn down a challenge Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan tell them that they will see them next week!
~ BORNE WARNING ~

The Borne N Bouji duo are all confidence as they proudly proclaim themselves streak breakers. Stating that they told Sadie Gibbs she should have stood beside them and that it was her mistake to instead stand against them. Aliyah and Vanessa Borne proudly remark that this is what happens when you cross them. Soon however their bubble is burst as Frankie B reminds the pair that Sadie Gibbs will in fact be returning to the UK Brand next week. Trying to play it as they aren't concerned Aliyah and Vanessa Borne quickly leave the set as Frankie B sends us away.
~ SHOW STEALERS ~
"The Professional" Nathan Cruz and "Lady" Katherine Darcy debut next week!
MATCH THREE: SINGLES MATCH (Referee: Darryl Sharma)
CURTIS AXEL W/MARIA KANELLIS VS. JOE HENDRY
The third match of the night was Joe Hendry's first solo battle with one of the Throne. His opponent would of course be former intercontinental champion and tag team champion Curtis Axel. Axel as we'd expect following that promo earlier was very fired up and looking to prove himself in this bout. This would be quite a hard hitting contest filled with some impressive technical chain wrestling as Axel very much honored both his father and grandfather. This included hitting some tributes to both men with the moves he used against Hendry. Following several strong minutes of back and forth action Joe Hendry had Axel reeling following a fall away slam. With Axel winded, Hendry then wasted no time in putting his foe away following a Hendry Slam (Angle Slam) for the win.
SHEPHERD:
AND THE WINNER OF THE MATCH JOE HENDRY!
(7:43)
The crowd in attendance cheers as the announcement is made and Joe Hendry rises to his feet. While Hendry starts to celebrate his win we see at ringside a livid Maria Kanellis watching on unimpressed with what she's seen.
~ UNFINISHED BUSINESS ~
Having personally requested some TV time to make a statement, the cameras take us to the locker room area where Ashton Smith is standing by. Talking about his history and issues with Rampage Brown, Ashton Smith says that regardless of how much he owed Metehan or not. He still chose to standby Metehan's side regardless of what Metehan and his cronies did to him which Smith cannot forgive or forget. Wanting to settle things once and for all with his former friend and tag team partner, Ashton Smith challenges Rampage Brown to a match at the Showcase.
~ BLIND FAITH ~
Having seen Wade Barrett name Jinny as the captain earlier for his women's team with the promise that recruitment begins tonight. It appears that Katarina Leigh in response to this has called Raquel Lourenco to her office. The former Killer Kelly and personal chief of staff for Katarina, Raquel quickly thanks Katarina for accepting her resignation as that role and for allowing her to resign as an in ring competitor for the brand. Nodding her head, Katarina remarks that while she was more than happy to help out she also did this for another reason. The reason being to personally ask Raquel Lourenco to be apart of her team at the Showcase. Stating there is no one she trusts more to standby her side. Katarina says it'll be her honor if Raquel is willing to do so. Without any hesitation Raquel agrees to team with Katarina at the Showcase.
~ WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER ~
Quickly the cameras then take us to the hallway of the building where Wade Barrett is standing by with Jinny. Barrett seems a tad confused as to why they are in the hall when Jinny motions to Tegan Nox who is standing by in the hall of the building along with Xia Brookside and Piper Niven. Asking why Jinny has bought him to three people who he personally has tried to recruit in the past to no avail. Jinny just tells Wade to watch as all of a sudden this trio is attacked by Emma,Deonna Purrazzo and Toni Storm. Also joining in this attack are also Australia's Hottest Commodities. Despite the best efforts of Niven, Brookside and Nox they are soon overwhelmed by the numbers until they all turn to face Jinny and Wade. With that Jinny proceeds to introduce Emma, Deonna and Toni as the newest members of Team Barrett.
MATCH #4: TAG TEAM MATCH (Referee: Chris Hatch)
THE HOUSE OF COUTURE (LANA AUSTIN AND NINA SAMUELS) VS. AMY ALLONSY AND DANI LUNA
For match four of the evening the pressure was on the House of Couture to impress their employer as they took on a pair of local talents. Knowing that their back was firmly up against the wall here Lana Austin and Nina Samuels showed a lot of aggression right from the off as they took the fight to the young duo of Amy Allonsy and Dani Luna. The young duo of Amy Allonsy and Dani Luna had a couple of moments where they'd get to show some grit with Luna in particular impressing with some power. Yet in the end the experience played a part as Nina Samuels and Lana Austin put away their opponents with a Hostile Makeover (Diving Cutter/Gory Bomb combination).
SHEPHERD:
AND THE WINNERS OF THE MATCH THE HOUSE OF COUTURE!
(4:01)

~ FORGOTTEN NO MORE ~

The leader of the pack of the Grizzled Young Veterans, Zack Gibson says he has taken this time right now to let people know what to expect from him and the rest of Grizzled Young Veterans. Stating that for too long their group has stayed in the shadows and not been given their due whatsoever. Calling himself the captain of the ship, Zack Gibson declares that it is his job to lead by example for Kip Sabian and James Drake. Which is why he is swearing that soon enough he will make the world take notice!
~ LIGHTNING STRIKE ~
Ahead of the main event a sit down interview conducted earlier this week is shown as John Gooden is joined by Mark Andrews. Speaking openly about what his goals are for WWE UK, Mark Andrews says that his eyes are firmly on holding that UK Championship. Yet it seems that every time Mark Andrews begins to get close to the long awaited shot at the title, things out of his control rip the carpet right out from under him. Stating that he knows he can't truly get his match with Finn Balor for the UK Championship until this Wade Barrett saga is over. Mark Andrews closes out this interview by revealing that he will be teaming up with Finn Balor as apart of Team Katarina at the UK Showcase.
MAIN EVENT: SINGLES MATCH (Referee: Artemis Ortygie)
ILJA DRAGUNOV VS. ANDRE TYSON
Finally in the main event of the evening Ilja Dragunov would very much get his wish for a fight as he took on Wade Barrett's head of security Andre Tyson. The imposing Tyson very much showed himself to be more than just an intimidating presence as he gave Ilja Dragunov a fight. This match would go all around the ring and the ringside area with Tyson very much in control throwing Dragunov all over the place. This would include a series of suplexes on the outside which culminated with a spinebuster on the apron itself. However no matter what Tyson threw at him Dragunov would not fall and this would only anger Tyson. Growing more angry by the second, Tyson would slowly begin to show signs of fatigue which allowed Dragunov to fight back and lamp him with a lariat. With Tyson reeling a combination of moves followed before Ilja finally put Tyson away with Torpedo Moscow!
SHEPHERD:
AND THE WINNER OF THE MATCH ILJA DRAGUNOV!
(9:01)
Still laying on the canvas after a hard fought win. Ilja Dragunov slowly with the help from the referee begins to make his way to his feet. Once he is up Ilja staggers back against the ropes before he recovers enough to stand and have his arm raised. While Dragunov begins to celebrate his win, the cameras focus on Wade Barrett watching on unimpressed backstage.
With only a few minutes remaining on the broadcast, the Bruiserweight Pete Dunne marches down to the ring and wastes little time in grabbing himself a microphone. The response from the audience is quite mixed as Pete Dunne doesn't beat around the bush expressing his sadness and disappointment in what happened with his planned British Strong Style audition for Gabriel Kidd. Remarking that while it may seem to people that he had set Gabriel Kidd up to fail and that he can understand Kidd thinking that way. Pete Dunne claims he was genuine in wanting Kidd to join them and stand by their side. He believes that British Strong Style is and always will be the standard bearer for British Wrestling. They are the past, the present and it's future which is why he only wanted to add to that future with another pillar to stand alongside himself, Tyler Bate, Trent Seven and Millie McKenzie. Acknowledging that the bridge has now been burned and the faith has been lost by Gabriel Kidd, Pete Dunne says he simply hopes in time that Gabriel Kidd will see that Dunne had no malicious intent and was serious about what potential he saw.
It is from there that Pete Dunne says he needs to look from the future of British Strong Style and instead focus on it's present. As Pete Dunne saw the recruiting of Gabriel Kidd not just as a investment for the future of British Wrestling but he also saw it as a true righting of the ship for the group. Remarking that hindsight is a brilliant thing and that lately he has done a lot of soul searching not just for himself but also the group. Pete Dunne says that when he wants to be the standard bearer for UK wrestling. When he wants British Strong Style to represent the best that the UK and all of Europe has to offer. He wants people to see a collective of individuals who are truly at the top of their game. Which is why he wants British Strong Style to step away from all the drama ongoing with the UK brand currently. Because he does not wish for British Strong Style to be defined by this team Barrett and Team Katarina nonsense, nor does he want them to be perceived as cheap mercenaries.
Dunne's promo is soon cut off however by the arrival of Trent Seven. Despite not being thrilled by this interruption Dunne shakes Seven's hand as he enters the ring. Motioning for Dunne to continue while he gets a microphone, Seven listens in while Dunne says that with what they originally had in mind for the formation of British Strong Style to the way they've been conducting themselves as of late. He isn't impressed and he knows deep down that none of them would be either. That is why he wants them to be better and that is why he wants to start by turning a corner with the recruitment of new prospects to focus on tomorrow's future. Nodding his head as he listens in intently to what Dunne has to say Seven soon begins to speak as he agrees with Dunne that British Strong Style has changed and looks very different now from what it once was. Calling it part of learning the real truth about business Seven says that British Strong Style is still the standard bearer of professional wrestling as a whole but they've also become wise to the fact that sometimes you have to go along to get along and make some friends in high places.
Calling it a means of survival to sometimes do the unexpected so that you can thrive. Trent Seven however does agree with Pete Dunne that looking to the future is always a good move. So he truly appreciates what Pete Dunne means when it comes to recruiting new talents to British Strong Style. However where they disagree and differ is when it comes to what talents they wish to join the group. For while Pete Dunne may look at Gabriel Kidd as the future when you ask the rest of British Strong Style exactly what they see when they look at him. Instead they don't see a potential member they see a victim. Because British Strong Style are the apex predators of the United Kingdom Brand. They are the pack of wolves on the hunt and it is clear to Trent Seven, Tyler Bate and Millie McKenzie that Gabriel Kidd is not one of them. This is why they have worked so hard to beat that message into Gabriel Kidd and why it was for the best that Pete Dunne had that car trouble he did. Because otherwise Pete Dunne would have been brought down with him.
This time it's Pete Dunne who listens intently while we see Tyler Bate and Millie McKenzie walk down to the ring. As they enter the ring, Trent Seven says that what happened to Dunne's vehicle was a blessing in disguise and small mercy to him. Dunne however looks at Trent quizzically as he says that there has been something he's been meaning to ask Trent about since last week. Alluding to the fact that Trent keeps talking about Pete Dunne's travel issues in vague terms this week but that last week Seven was a lot more precise in Dunne's issues citing 4 flat tires. Seven appears to be a little confused by Dunne's point until Pete says that he never told Trent exactly what his issues were and he's wondering exactly how Trent Seven would be aware of what happened. Seven appears to be caught off guard by this and he stammers out a response that he must of heard Dunne tell Tyler what had happened. Yet again Dunne says he never told Tyler or Millie exactly what happened. So the only way Trent could know the details is if Trent was there.
There is a nervous gulp and laugh from Seven who begins to stammer over his words thinking of excuses which only aggravates the Bruiserweight further. Outright accusing Trent Seven of sabotaging his vehicle and jeopardizing Gabriel Kidd's recruitment and tryout for British Strong Style. Pete Dunne demands answers from Trent who is quick to bark back that he did it out of love for Pete Dunne. Calling British Strong Style a brotherhood Trent calls his actions heroic and for the greater good as he knew that Kidd wasn't worthy. He knew that Gabriel Kidd would only drag Pete Dunne down with him and that's why he decided it was time that someone pulled the trigger on the situation. Stating that he and Dunne have a common goal to bring the group to prosperity, Seven says that this is the real way to do business. That is why British Strong Style has aligned with Barrett and that is also why Trent Seven has signed the group up to represent Team Barrett in those elimination tag team matches.
This further angers Pete Dunne who slaps Seven's microphone from his hand. Seven backs up as Dunne begins to crowd him and backs Seven up into the corner. Outright barking at Seven, Pete Dunne says that Trent Seven does not get to decide what is best for British Strong Style nor does he get to sign them up as a set of mercenaries. Stating he would rather kill British Strong Style then watch Trent bastardize it any further, Pete Dunne tells Seven that he is done. Seven looks on confused while a stunned Tyler and Millie just watch on in silence. Asking what Dunne means, Seven is caught off guard as Pete tells him to go. Telling Seven to leave as he is no longer apart of this. Dunne screams at Seven to get out while Tyler Bate steps between them in an attempt to settle things. Seven remains in the corner in disbelief until Dunne tells him that this is an easy way and hard way situation. If he doesn't leave accordingly then Dunne will make him leave and that won't be as pleasant. Bate still tries to pacify the situation but Seven shakes his head and walks to the ropes as he says he'll leave.
Yet as he gets to the ropes Seven picks up the microphone that Dunne previously slapped from his hand. Stating that Dunne is right Seven doesn't speak for everyone clearly when it comes to British Strong Style. Yet where Dunne is mistaken is thinking that he does also. Remarking that he has never lied to Pete Dunne or attempted to mislead him, Trent reminds Dunne of what he said earlier. British Strong Style are the apex, they are a pack of wolves on the hunt for prey. Weakness is not tolerated and it does not survive in British Strong Style. So in order for British Strong Style to truly survive, it's time to do the unexpected. With that Seven true to his nature attempts to cheap shot Pete Dunne with the microphone but Pete Dunne is able to back drop Seven to the canvas. From there Dunne mounts Seven and begins to fire off punches on him as the crowd cheers. This is until Millie McKenzie dives on Dunne in an attempt to break up the fight. Allowing McKenzie to move him, Dunne gets to his feet while a conflicted Bate stands over Trent. Bate offers Seven a hand but Seven gets up on his own accord before nodding his head. Almost on cue Bate turns around and punches Dunne.
The crowd are stunned as Bate and Dunne fire off punches at one another until Dunne wobbles Bate with a forearm. Seven hits Dunne from behind but Pete fires back with a back elbow to the jaw. While Seven stumbles against the ropes Dunne begins to fire off punches to Bate while he calls him deluded for siding with Seven. Again looking to be the cooler head Millie McKenzie forces her way between them as Dunne backs up out of respect for his former protégé. This is until Millie McKenzie shows her true colors with a boot right to the balls. Dunne doubles over in pain allowing Bate to connect with a big punch right to the side of Pete's jaw putting him on a knee. This then allows Seven to connect with a knee trembler directly to the temple with Dunne hitting the canvas in a heap. With the audience in a stunned silence the trio of Bate, Seven and McKenzie put the boots to Dunne before Seven drags Pete to his feet and sets him up in position for a piledriver. A couple of referees rush down to the scene but are swatted away swiftly by Bate and McKenzie before Bate climbs the turnbuckle. While Millie stands guard Bate and Seven drive Dunne into the canvas with a nasty spike piledriver. The show then comes to a close with Tyler Bate, Trent Seven and Millie McKenzie all standing over a laid out Pete Dunne.

Shown to be a popular figure with the audience in attendance, many of whom showered the former professional boxer with cheers. This winded Babic and caused him to stagger against the ropes where Ogogo put him away with the Tower of London.
Winner: Anthony Ogogo (4:37)
Kicking off tonight's WWE UK show would be a video package which recapped last week's events. This would begin with the brawl which broke out between Doug Williams and Eddie Dennis before shifting to the successful in ring debut of Isla Dawn. Following this we'd see Ilja Dragunov defeat Andre Tyson in a wild brawl before the video would culminate with the shocking show closer where Trent Seven, Tyler Bate and Millie McKenzie launched into a vicious assault of Pete Dunne kicking him out of British Strong Style. Once the video came to an end Chasing Cadence's Dear Life would begin to play as this week's show would officially open. After the camera pans around a lively audience we have in attendance inside the Plymouth Pavilion. We head to the commentary table where John Gooden is joined by special guest Rhia O'Reilly. Together the duo begin to hype up tonight's show before sending us to ringside.
With his entrance theme playing Eddie Dennis confidently strides out from the back and down to the ring. Despite the loud boos from the audience and chants of you suck, Eddie Dennis is all smiles and once he climbs into the ring, Dennis grabs himself a microphone. Standing in the center of the ring Eddie Dennis says that before he begins he'd like to personally thank Wade Barrett for allowing him this time to come out and get some things off his chest. With a deep breath Eddie Dennis' smile fades as he says that unfortunately he isn't able to feature on this show in his usual capacity as the voice of WWE UK. The reason for this is proof as to why Katarina Leigh's time is up and Wade's time is now.
As she has molly coddled and allowed Doug Williams to get away with murder since the Brand's inception. Mentioning his constant physicality with roster members and totally biased commentary. Eddie Dennis says behavior like this has gone unpunished without repercussions for way too long. This is why he is taking this time now not to ask or plead for action to be taken but instead to demand that something is done about the Doug Williams problem. Threatening legal action having been in his words assaulted on several occasions now, Eddie Dennis says he will bring everyone down if his demands aren't met. This includes that newly arrived managerial representative who has suspended him from commentary without valid reason.
Dennis' threats soon draw out the arrival of William Regal himself who does not look particular impressed with Dennis or his threats of legal action. Remarking that the lack of shame Eddie Dennis has is truly remarkable. William Regal says that yes while Doug Williams in the past has shown himself to be at times volatile, there is no doubt in William Regal's mind from what he saw that Eddie Dennis had berated and incited this response. Stating that men can only be pushed too far, William Regal says that he knows similar to what's been going on with Katarina and Wade, that things cannot go unresolved here for the sake of the program. This is why at the upcoming Showcase there will be a match between Eddie Dennis and Doug Williams! The crowd in attendance explodes with cheers while a stunned Eddie Dennis looks on in the ring. With that William Regal begins to head backstage before he reminds Eddie that his suspension still stands this week and if he chooses to take up anymore show time, than that suspension will be made permanent!

Admitting that maybe EC3 has a point and that the time for fun and games is over. Spike Trivet says that he's more than willing to be charitable and give EC3 the match that he so desires however he asks for a simple caveat. If he's granting EC3's wish to a match, than EC3 accepts it on Spike Trivet's terms. These terms being a Manor House Mayhem match at the Showcase!

TEAM WHITE WOLF W/ MARIAH MAY VS. DANNY BURCH AND ONEY LORCAN
For the opening contest of the night we'd see a long awaited rematch between Team White Wolf and the pair of Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan. Having made a mistake of trying to out strike the two hard nosed brawlers in their first match. It appeared that this time around A-Kid and Carlos Romo had greatly learned their lesson as this time we saw a lot more technical and high flying offense from the pair. This would be quite the back and forth tag team match which very much warmed the crowd up in attendance before A-Kid and Romo connected with a double superkick on Danny Burch sending him out of the ring. From here Team White Wolf picked up the win after they hit Oney Lorcan with the Wolf's Lair (Reverse STO/Running Enzugiri combination)!
Shepherd:And the winners of the match Team White Wolf! (10:01)
The crowd cheers as the announcement is made and the victorious duo quickly snatch one another in an embrace. Soon Mariah May joins her team in the ring and she raises their arms in the air with a big smile on her face. While Team Whitewolf begin to celebrate both Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch begin to get to their feet before they face off with the Team White Wolf pair. In a show of respect Burch and Lorcan raise White Wolf's arms in the air before clapping their hands for them in what John Gooden described as a passing of the torch moment.
~ DON'T STOP BOLIEVING ~

~ BATTLE SCARS ~
Just before the next match of the evening can play, fan cam footage is shown from an altercation which took place earlier this evening. The footage highlights Laura Di Matteo making her arrival to the building when she is confronted by Nina Samuels and Lana Austin. The House of Couture pair very much are still looking to get back in their employers good graces which Di Matteo comments on. Telling them that she was once like them, Laura tells them that the sooner they realize the truth about Jinny the better. Samuels and Austin quickly look to attack Di Matteo and despite Laura's best efforts the number's game begins to get the better of her. This is until Candy Floss would enter the fold and together with Laura she'd fight off the House of Couture.
Match #2: Singles Match
(Referee: Darryl Sharma)
JOE HENDRY VS. BO DALLAS
Having had quite the technical in ring contest last week against Curtis Axel. This week Joe Hendry found himself with a totally different test. As he had to battle the hard hitting brawler Bo Dallas. This would be quite the physical contest with Dallas not only proving himself to be quite an adept brawler but also proving himself to be unafraid to use the mental game to his advantage. With Maria Kanellis again on commentary for the match it appeared that Hendry enjoyed taunting her about her husband in the early going until Dallas scored a near fall with a running Bodog. Yet in the end Hendry managed to recover and not long after he'd pin Dallas following a fall away slam.
Shepherd:And the winner of the match Joe Hendry! (5:33)
The crowd cheers as the announcement is made and Joe Hendry rises to his feet. While Joe Hendry begins to celebrate his victory we see at ringside a livid Maria throw her headset down and scream with rage having seen Hendry victorious again.
~ THY KINGDOM COME ~
Quickly the cameras then cut to one of the darker parts of the arena. Here a frenzied Nikki Cross is currently seated on a production crate and is rocking back and forth muttering under her breath. In between these frenetic movements Cross over and over again repeats the words I know before she looks into the camera. Lunging towards the cameraman who takes a step back Nikki Cross breaks out into a sinister smirk. Cross reiterates that she knows why Wonderland is here and what they want before she closes out the promo by promising to stop it all by killing it's Queen!
~ TEAM BUILDING ~
Footage filmed from earlier in the day focuses on Katarina Leigh inside her office. Katarina is joined by her longtime friend Raquel Lourenco and the duo begin talking about the elimination match at the Showcase. Raquel is the one who tells Katarina that Wade has filled his women's team and near enough his men's team. Katarina nods her head in acknowledgement of this before she says that she's already added some members to her team. With that Katarina is joined by Xia Brookside and Tegan Nox. Having been attacked the previous week both women are happy to stand against Wade but wants to know who is going to be their last member. Katarina in response says that she is currently talking to someone about it and is hoping to get an answer tonight!
~ ACCEPTED ~
Just before the next contest of the evening can take place a backstage interview is then shown as Joanna Rose is joined by Rampage Brown. In the early stages of this interview Brown cannot hide his relief as he says that it's great to finally have Metehan and his cronies off his back once and for all. Admitting that for the first time in a long while he was able to be at peace. Brown's laidback demeanor soon shifts as he begins to address Ashton Smith, Saying that he regrets what he did but that he did only want to make peace with him. Brown says that clearly that's not the case now and he knows what must be done. Which is why he accepts the challenge made to him by Ashton Smith for a match at the Showcase!
Match #3: Tag Team Match
(Referee: Thomas Scarborough)
OPUS DEI VS. KEZ EVANS AND DAMIEN CORVIN
With their title opportunity confirmed for the UK Showcase. Tonight's match was a showcase for the duo of Noam Dar and Mark Coffey. To their opponents credit neither Kez Evans or Damien Corvin were intimidated by their opposition or what they'd accomplished thus far. However we'd find what they perhaps were not truly prepared for was the mental games of Noam Dar. Dar of course would provide frequent interference and distractions for Mark Coffey which allowed him to land heavy shots on their opponents. Following only a couple of minutes of action Opus Dei picked up the win following the Spring Heeled Jack (Sidewalk slam/Running knee strike combo).
Shepherd: And the winner of the match Opus Dei! (3:24)
The audience in attendance begins to boo as Opus Dei begin to celebrate their victory. Per their normal behavior Noam Dar begins mouthing off while Mark Coffey drags Damien Corvin to his feet and drills him with a vicious forearm strike. Dar meanwhile begins to put the boots to Evans causing the champions Aussie Open to rush down to the ring. The crowd cheers as the champions hit the ring and begin firing off punches against their challengers. This is until Noam Dar rakes the eyes of Kyle Fletcher and follows up with a kick to the balls. With Fletcher falling to the mat, Dar hops on Davis' back and this distraction allows Coffey to clobber him with a forearm strike. The Opus Dei duo then follow up by planting Fletcher with the Spring Heeled Jack before raising the tag team titles in the air.
~ NEVER WOUND WHAT YOU CAN'T KILL ~
Following the match, the cameras direct us backstage where this time Frankie B is standing by with the duo of Piper Niven and Dakota Kai. The pair of Niven and Kai cannot help but express some disappointment that they haven't been asked by Katarina Leigh to be apart of her team. However the two veterans admit that while they would have been honored to be apart of the team. Because they aren't it gives them a chance to get some retribution of their own. Reminding everyone of the attack they sustained last week, Niven and Kai's anger seem particularly focused on a pair of clout chasers calling themselves Australia's Hottest Commodities. Promising to make them pay for what they did, Kai and Niven make it clear that the AHC have just what they wanted and that is their attention!
~ FIGHT FOR IT ~
Post Show footage from last week is then shown and it focuses on Mark Andrews making his leave from the building. As Andrews begins to reach his car however he is blindsided by Zack Gibson. Liverpool's Number One throws Andrews into the side of his car and begins to put the boots to him in what is an unprovoked assault. This is until security and officials quickly rush onto the scene. Despite Gibson's best efforts to do more damage Andrews begins to climb to his feet. Before he can fire back at Gibson however, Zack is soon run off by Ilja Dragunov. The cameras then cut away as Dragunov checks on Andrews.
Match #4: Singles Match
(Referee: Artemis Ortygie)
Sadie Gibbs vs. Monica Passeri
For her return match to the brand Sadie Gibbs would find herself in action with the brash Monica Passeri. While some may have expected Gibbs to not be fully focused on the task at hand. To her credit the super prospect was all business in this short contest. Between clips of the match the cameras cut to the backstage locker rooms where both Aliyah and Vanessa Borne were standing by. Following only a couple of minutes of action Gibbs had Monica reeling following a press slam and moonsault combination. Following this Sadie picked up the win with an Emerald Flowsion.
Shepherd: And the winner of the match Sadie Gibbs! (2:47)
The crowd cheers as the announcement is made and Sadie Gibbs rises to her feet. While the unbeaten Sadie Gibbs begins to celebrate her victory, the cameras cut backstage to where an unimpressed Aliyah and Vanessa Borne are standing by.
~ YOU'RE WELCOME ~
Returning to the office of Katarina Leigh this time the general manager is joined by her men's team as Mark Andrews and Finn Balor are standing with her. After checking on Andrews following the attack last week Katarina calls in Ilja Dragunov to the room. Thanking Ilja for having Andrews' back last week, Katarina says that since coming to the UK brand Ilja Dragunov has proven himself to be a man of honor and integrity. This is why she knows that he is the exact person he wants on her team. Without hesitation Ilja Dragunov accepts the offer to represent team Katarina. From here Balor remarks that they still need two more spots but Katarina assures him that they have this covered.
The cameras then return to ringside where already standing in the ring is Kanji. With the crowd in attendance giving her some respectful applause and cheers, Kanji appears to be slightly overwhelmed by the occasion. Asking everyone nicely to bare with her and this is all still new to her, Kanji says that she never believed this day would become a reality and she'd get to live out her dreams as a professional wrestler. Admitting that she's had her struggles so far in the ring, Kanji says that she is getting better every day thanks to working with the likes of Laura Di Matteo and Dakota Kai. Saying that her goal is improve and hopes one day to be the UK Women's champion.
Not wanting to get ahead of herself however Kanji turns talk to Kasey Owens. Saying that from when she started watching WWE UK she was always a fan of Kasey Owens and her work. She considered her an under rated presence in the ring who a lot of people over looked. Kanji however could not hide her disappointment at what Kasey Owens had allowed herself to become. Saying that Kasey Owens is a bully who can no longer intimidate her or overwhelm her because now Kanji is able to fight for herself. While not the most charismatic speaker Kanji's words seemed to rally the crowd further behind her as Kanji closed out this promo by promising victory at the Showcase!
~ Queen's Gambit ~
Enraged at what happened earlier with Joe Hendry defeating one of her clients. Maria Kanellis declares that she has had enough of Joe Hendry's disrespect of her king. Stating that her husband is just as angry at Hendry's constant disrespect. Livid Maria Kanellis says that next week her husband dares Joe Hendry to find himself two partners of his own. As Mike Kanellis, the King of UK wrestling is deciding to handle this matter himself ahead of the UK Showcase. Which is why he is challenging Joe Hendry to a six man tag team match next week against him and his loyal subjects!
Match #5: Singles Match
(Referee: Chris Hatch)
Nathan Cruz W/Katherine Darcy vs. Jason Reed
With his arrival being highly touted we'd see Nathan Cruz finally step into a WWE UK ring for the first time in over three years. No longer the Show Stealer or Primma Donna that he once was. Instead this was a more serious, focused Nathan Cruz who in the early goings would dissect his young open and slowly begin to pick him apart. However where Cruz did seem to have some issues at least with his concentration came to his girlfriend Katherine Darcy. Unable to take his eyes off his girlfriend, these lapses in concentration allowed Jason Reed to mount a slight comeback until Cruz eventually put his opponent away with the Exit Stage Right!
Shepherd: And the winner of the match Nathan Cruz! (4:02)
The crowd boos as the announcement is made and Nathan Cruz climbs to his feet. Cruz is soon joined in the ring by Darcy with the couple sharing a kiss before Darcy insists on raising her man's arm in the air.
~ THE CARDS FALL ~
Quickly the cameras then direct us towards the GM's office where William Regal is standing by. The management consultant expresses his relief that the Showcase is just around the corner with a little over a week to go. After he takes a moment to reveal that the match order for the two showcases shall be revealed on WWE.com later this evening. Regal then follows up with a series of announcements for next weeks' show which includes Zack Gibson vs. Mark Andrews and Sadie Gibbs competing in a handicap match against Borne N Bouji. On top of this Regal reveals that next week's show will see Wade Barrett, Eddie Dennis and Katarina Leigh all stepping in the ring to compete in singles competition against to be determined opponents.
~ MY SHOW ~
Despite picking up his first win since returning to the UK Brand, it seems that Nathan Cruz isn't fully satisfied with how tonight played out. What seems to be frustrating Cruz and playing on his mind is that everyone in his opinion was focusing on Katherine Darcy. Calling Darcy his girl with pride, Cruz makes it clear that no one apart from him should be making eyes at his girl. With a mischievous smirk on her face, Katherine Darcy counters that if that's the case. Then why is he allowing that guy to do so, slowly Cruz turns to see a regular crew member going about his business. Without any hesitation Cruz barks at the crew member demanding to know why he's looking at his girl. Refusing to listen to reason, Cruz lashes out and blasts the crew member with a superkick to the jaw putting him down on the ground while Darcy begins to laugh about what's transpired. With that the couple walk off hand in hand.
Match #6: Singles Match NON TITLE
(Referee: Thomas Scarborough)
Kassius Ohno vs. Jurn Simmons w/Jayde
In non title action Kassius Ohno would take on "The Knave" Jurn Simmons. A rare person willing to stand across from Jurn Simmons, we'd see Kassius Ohno show himself more than willing to not only battle Jurn but also to stand in front of him and slug it out. These matches of course would play into Kassius Ohno's wheel house as he thrived in hard hitting slug fests. As the match progressed we'd see Ohno begin to take full control of the match as he had Simmons reeling with a elbow to the back of the head before becoming the first man to put the Knave down with a cyclone kick. Before Ohno could make a cover however he'd be blindsided with a big clothesline by Joseph Conners leading to the referee calling for the bell.
Shepherd:And the winner of the match as a result of a disqualification Kassius Ohno! (7:13)
The crowd boos as Joseph Conners fires off a series of punches and kicks to the downed Kassius Ohno. A few members of security rush to the ring but they are swatted away effortlessly by Jurn Simmons. While Conners plants Ohno with the Don't Look Down, Jayde comes in possession of the Commonwealth championship. Together with her Wonderland allies, Jayde leaves in possession of the Commonwealth Championship.
~ RECRUITMENT DRIVE ~
Before the main event of the evening can take place, the cameras take us to the hallway of the building where Wade Barrett has requested some time to make an announcement. Stating that he said earlier that the final position on his team would be someone who impressed him. Wade says that in light of some footage played earlier there is one man who he believes is worthy of representing him at the UK Showcase. With that Wade Barrett closes out this segment as he introduces the world to the fifth and final member of Team Barrett... Zack Gibson!
Match #7: Singles Match
Morgan Webster vs. Drew Gulak
In the main event of the evenings fan's would be treated to a grudge match between Morgan Webster and Drew Gulak. In what was a styles clash between the two individuals we'd see two very different game plans. While Gulak looked to ground and stretch Morgan Webster, we'd see Morgan look to create space in an perform his high flying moves. This led to a back and forth match with both men having their moments until in a shocking moment Webster floored Gulak with a Modern Knee. This allowed Webster to follow up with the Shadows over Malice for the victory.
Shepherd:And the winner of the match Morgan Webster! (12:35)
The crowd cheers as the announcement is made when the cameras cut to Anthony Nese looking to rush down to the ring. Yet Nese's attempt at a blindside is cut short thanks to a spear by Adam Brooks who has come from the crowd. Brooks then rolls into the ring and he snatches Webster in a hug as the audience explodes into cheers while Gulak falls out to the floor.
With only a few minutes left before the end of the show, the audience in attendance is surprised when Wade Barrett marches out from the back. Barrett appears to be very smug and confident on his walk down to the ring. Slowly it becomes apparent that Barrett is not coming alone as not only is he joined by the rest of his men's team which is comprised of Fabian Aichner, Trent Seven, Tyler Bate and Zack Gibson. But he is also futher joined by his women's team which contains Deonna Purrazzo, Emma, Jinny, Millie McKenzie and Toni Storm. Once in the ring a smirking Barrett holds a microphone in hand as he looks over at every member of his team proudly.
Proclaiming that what everyone can see here is a collective of the greatest in ring talents that WWE UK has to offer. Calling this group the collection who will truly lead WWE UK into it's next age. Calling his mission a crusade for change and a true cleansing of the filth that has run amok apart of the UK Brand. Wade Barrett says that the Showcase is an eradication. Pledging to eliminate Katarina and her friends once and for all. Yet as Wade reveals their mission at the Showcase will be a lot easier than even he accounted for because it turns out it's lonelier on Katarina's side of the fence than he could anticipate. Saying that perhaps people are witnessing the true cost of business and giving it a wide birth. Wade seems to be taking a lot of amusement in Katarina not having her teams filled.
Just then the crowd begins to cheer as Katarina Leigh walks out from the back and stops at the top of the stage. With a microphone in hand Katarina introduces both her men and women's team one by one as she is joined on stage by Finn Balor, Mark Andrews, Ilja Dragunov, Raquel Lourenco, Xia Brookside and Tegan Nox. Despite being outnumbered still with her team, Katarina seems confident as her and her partners all slowly begin to walk down to the ring. Smugly Barrett responds by saying that stepping in this ring right now would be suicide for her and her team. Calling her and her group of loses pathetic, Wade practically dares anyone to stand with them against his forces. It seems however Wade's words act as a bit of a wake up call however as to his and everyone in the rings surprise, slowly walking down the ramp and to the ringside is Kay Lee Ray.
The lone wolf Ray is stoic as she stands before Katarina and nods her head. In response Katarina smiles before welcoming her to the team. With a full women's side now complete Katarina's confidence rises as she begins to fire back at Wade Barrett. Stating that Barrett is a smart and calculated human being. Someone who always thinks several moves ahead and to his credit he has amassed quite the contingent here. Yet there is one thing he lacks with his team that Katarina doesn't. That is loyalty, calling Barrett's team a band of parasites all serving their own interests. Katarina says that her team is one built on trust and respect. Which is why it stuns her to know that Wade never accounted on just who else might be loyal to Katarina because there is no one as loyal as family!
Barrett looks confused by Katarina's warning as Nightwish's Phantom of the Opera begins to play. The lights in the building begin to flicker before suddenly the whole arena is thrust into darkness. When the lights turn back on we see all of Katarina's team are now standing on various sections of the apron while Barrett is unaware that standing behind him is a man wearing a black trench coat and Balaclava. Barrett soon realizes however as he's spun round and planted with a C4 before his team can react. As Barrett falls out to the floor the man unmasks to reveal himself as Paul Burchill! The crowd in attendance are stunned as Katarina's older brother then goes right after Trent Seven in the ring.
Katarina's team now joins the ring and we see an all out brawl break out between both teams. Katarina Leigh shows no trouble in getting right in the action either as she blasts Jinny with a mafia kick sending the women's champion spilling to the floor. Quickly we see Toni Storm join her as she's blasted with a superkick by Kay Lee Ray. Another superkick follows this time from Raquel Lourenco onto Deonna Purrazzo sending her out of the ring while Xia Brookside sends Millie McKenzie packing with a single knee facebuster. The women's side is fully run off thanks to a chokeslam by Tegan Nox on Emma seconds later which has the aussie rolling out to the floor.
Having been caught off guard as well by the shock arrival of Burchill, the same fate quickly begins to befall the men's team with Tyler Bate levelled with a torpedo moscow by Ilja Dragunov. Seven is sent packing soon after following a big clothesline by Burchill. Aichner and Gibson meanwhile appear to be putting up more of a fight until Balor rocks Aichner with a slingblade and then follows up with a shotgun dropkick sending Aichner tumbling through the ropes. Gibson meanwhile has a suplex countered with the stun dog millionaire and rolls out to the floor. The entire crowd is on their feet as Team Katarina stands tall in the ring while a stunned Barrett and his team look to regroup as the show comes to a close!
In some surprising news it can be confirmed that this past week's show was the final appearance of Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch as part of the United Kingdom Brand. It is said that there are to be a fair few departures set to take place in the brand over the coming months amidst what is being described as an overhaul. It is believed that Oney Lorcan will be returning to NXT with possibilities of him appearing on 205 live also. In regards to Danny Burch however he's been offered a trainer role with the UK performance Center with hopes he can work with and mold the talents of the future. Some also speculate that Burch maybe considered for a reboot on his character down the line which is why the offer was given to him as it was Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain.

Their opponents would be a group of talents led by Alexander Wolfe comprised of Killian Dain, Warren Banks, Maggot and Harry Smith. Kicking off tonight's show would be six man tag team action as the Throne battled Joe Hendry, Morgan Webster and Adam Brooks. This match in the early going was very much a wild brawl as the official struggled to contain the tempers of everyone involved. As the match waged on we'd see the Throne prove themselves to be the more adept team when it comes to cohesion and team work. Yet as the match went on we'd see Adam Brooks having endured numerous double team moves launch an impressive comeback before tagging out to Joe Hendry. With Morgan Webster and Brooks putting their bodies on the line with dives out onto the floor crushing Mike Kanellis and Curtis Axel, we'd see Hendry pick up the win in the ring following a Hendry slam.
SHEPHERD:AND THE WINNERS OF THE MATCH JOE HENDRY, ADAM BROOKS AND MORGAN WEBSTER!
(8:14)
The bell rings as the crowd in attendance cheers loudly. However these cheers are soon cut short when Drew Gulak and Tony Nese rush down towards the ring. Quickly Gulak and Nese send Adam Brooks crashing face first into the ring post while Morgan Webster is tossed into the ring steps by Mike Kanellis. In the ring Joe Hendry starts firing off punches at Curtis Axel. Joe also manages to hit both Gulak and Nese off of the apron. However this distraction allows Bo Dallas to plant him with a bulldog. The entire Throne then hit the ring and all put the boots to Hendry while Kanellis watches on. From here Kanellis has Dallas and Axel force Hendry onto his knees before he barks in Joe's face that he will kneel before his king. A left cross by Kanellis follows to Joe's jaw which puts him back on the canvas before the Throne stand tall in the ring to jeers.
~ TELL ME MORE ~
Over the titantron a pre taped interview is then played which was filmed earlier this week. This interview sees Joanna Rose sat down with Paul Burchill. The main focus of this interview is Paul Burchill's time away from the ring following his previous WWE run. Admitting that he was burned out and had some niggling injuries, Paul Burchill says that in his time away he settled down and became a firefighter. Talking proudly of his career Burchill says that he'd honestly forgotten all about the business and the thrill of competition. Yet when his sister called him in need of help, Paul Burchill said he couldn't ignore the call. Despite his wife's concerns, Paul says that there will never be a time that he doesn't answer that call and now he and his sister are reunited. They know for an absolute fact that the clock is ticking for Wade Barrett as part of the UK brand.
~ PROMISES ~
Before the next match of the evening the cameras cut to the office of Wade Barrett. Here Barrett seems to very much be feeling the pressure of everything as he paces back and forth. This is until the door to his office opens and in walks Andre Tyson who is dressed in his ring gear. Andre appears a tad anxious as he asks why Wade wanted to see him before his match. Barrett appears agitated as he cannot hide his disappointment at Tyson's loss to Ilja Dragunov. Talking about tonight, Wade warns Andre Tyson that he will not tolerate a second bout of failure. He tells Tyson that he doesn't want Burchill beaten but instead he wants him broken.
MATCH #2: SINGLES MATCH (Referee: Darryl Sharma)
ANDRE TYSON VS. PAUL BURCHILL
Making his return to in ring competition after a near decade away from the WWE and the ring. Paul Burchill found himself matched up with the vicious bruiser Andre Tyson. Looking to still prove his worth to his employer, a fired up Tyson attacked Burchill before the bell could even ring. This would lead to a hard hitting back and forth brawl between these two heavyweights. Following a short contest between the two Burchill managed to spike Tyson into the canvas with a leaping neck breaker before he'd follow up with a surfboard curb stomp on Andre Tyson to pick up the win.
SHEPHERD:
AND THE WINNER OF THE MATCH PAUL BURCHILL!
(6:11)
There are cheers from the crowd as the announcement is made and Paul Burchill makes a swift exit from the ring with little celebration. While a stoic Burchill high fives a few fans on his way up the ramp, we see in the ring Andre Tyson staggering to his feet. Tyson however is clobbered with a dropkick to the back of the head by Fabian Aichner. Andre collapses to the mat in a heap as Aichner proceeds to viciously beat him down until security arrive on the scene.
~ CONSEQUENCES ~
From here the cameras cut away to footage shot moments ago as Maria Kanellis was heading out the arena. On her way Maria is met by William Regal. Commenting on Maria and the Throne's swift exit tonight. William Regal says he is relieved to have caught her as they have a lot to discuss. See while he knows that they are aware of Mike Kanellis' match at the upcoming Showcase. William wanted to make her aware that Tony Nese and Drew Gulak will also be in action as they take on Adam Brooks and Morgan Webster. However as Regal is well aware of the throne's antics and penchant for a trick up their sleeve. In this match there will be nowhere to run or get out of sight as they will be linked up to their opponents in the UK's first ever tag team dog collar match!
~ IS THAT IT ~
Ahead of the next match, a pretaped promo then airs from the locker room area as Marcel Barthel and Clement Petiot are standing by. The Foreign Legion are quick to cut to the chase as it seems that despite their win the previous week, the duo of A-Kid and Carlos Romo still have done little to earn their respect. Calling them little green horns and young boys. Barthel remarks that he doesn't believe these two to be worthy of stepping foot in the sacred ring of WWE UK. Petiot then closes out the promo by warning them that they should not take this threat lightly as The Foreign Legion do not appreciate people they think aren't deserving of stepping into their ring.
MATCH #3: SINGLES MATCH
GABRIEL KIDD VS. WADE BARRETT
The second return to the ring of the evening was that of Wade Barrettt as he took on hungry prospect Gabriel Kidd. While some may have been intimidated of going against someone of Barrett's esteem and reputation. Gabriel Kidd wasn't one of them as he took the fight right to Barrett from the off and even picked up a near fall following a belly to belly suplex. However despite Kidd's early success it only took one big shot from Wade to turn the corner with Barrett connecting with a bull hammer elbow to the jaw and following up with wasteland in order to pick up the win.
SHEPHERD:AND THE WINNER OF THE MATCH WADE BARRETT!
(4:32)
The crowd boos as the announcement is made and Wade Barrett rises to his feet. After getting his hand raised, Wade Barrett begins to celebrate his win while the referee begins to check on a groggy Gabriel Kidd.
~ HISTORY ~
Remember everything by Five Finger Death punch plays in the background as a video package begins to play focusing on the history between Ashton Smith and Rampage Brown. The former tag team partners who competed under the moniker of the Marauders of course went their own separate way following Ashton suffering a bad knee injury. Over the course of this video package we hear both men talking in depth about their situation as Smith says that it didn't take long for him to see a new side of Brown. Stating that Brown grew cold and distant and no longer resembled his friend and tag team partner. Ashton never understood why he changed. In response to this Brown states that due to hard times he had to make hard decisions. Friendships and attachments had to be cast aside so that he could focus on the task at hand. Stating that a true friend would understand Brown says that Smith has caused him nothing but issues yet despite Brown's attempts to resolve things amicably it is Brown who is the apparent bad guy. Closing the video package Smith says that he tried to be Brown's friend and he tried to help him but now those days are past and this will only be settled by Smith kicking his ass!
~ ALL HAIL THE QUEEN ~
On the titantron we are then played special footage sent to us from the Kingdom of Wonderland. Here before her many subjects stands "The Red Queen" Isla Dawn. Before her subjects Dawn decrees that after a lot of turmoil and would be assailants on their kingdom. At the UK Showcase she will personally take the role of Wonderland's executioner when she finally rids them of the pest that is Nikki Cross. On top of that Isla follows by revealing with pride that "The Cheshire" Joseph Conners will be the first of their family to return home with gold as he will defeat the commonwealth champion Kassius Ohno!
~ WATCH AND LEARN ~
Before we return to ringside, the cameras quickly take us to the hallway of the building where Kasey Owens is pacing back and forth. The mother of chaos is very fired up ahead of he match tonight as she says that getting to put her hands on Katarina Leigh is like a belated christmas gift just for her. Saying that it is because of Katarina that she is having the Kanji problem she has now, Kasey promises that she will destroy Katarina tonight and that she hopes that Kanji is at home or at her little dojo watching this and trembling in fear knowing that her first ever singles match will be her last!
MATCH #4: SINGLES MATCH
EDDIE DENNIS VS. SHELTON BENJAMIN
Another return to action would take place in the third bout of the night as Eddie Dennis battled Shelton Benjamin. In the early goings of this contest it seemed that Eddie Dennis was looking to prove a point by attempting to out wrestle and out technique Shelton Benjamin. As one might expect this soon backfired spectacularly much to the delight of the audience in attendance. Realizing he'd bitten off more than he could chew, Dennis instead changed tact and began trying to stall as best he can. Avoiding a corner splash from Shelton who managed to land with his feet on the corner, Dennis showed his opportunistic streak as he pulled Benjamin's leg from under him causing Shelton to hit his head on the ring post. This allowed Dennis to follow up with a crucifix powerbomb for the win.
SHEPHERD:
AND THE WINNER OF THE MATCH EDDIE DENNIS
(6:46)
The crowd erupts into boos as the announcement is made and Eddie Dennis rises to his feet. As the brash Eddie Dennis begins to celebrate his win, the cameras cut backstage where an unimpressed Doug Williams watches on.
~ BE BOLD ~
Cutting away from the ring the cameras then show us a pre taped promo as the pair of Noam Dar and Mark Coffey stand in the locker room. As per usual a lot of the talking in this is handled by the brash Noam Dar who is brimming with confidence ahead of their title match against the tag team champions Aussie Open. Proclaiming that Opus Dei has been occupying the minds of Aussie Open rent free since becoming the number one contenders. Noam Dar says that victory is certain at the Showcase and the titles will be theirs!
~ ACCEPTED ~
Post show footage from last week's show is then played and it focuses on EC3 watching the challenge laid out to him by Spike Trivet. A more serious figure than we've perhaps seen him previously. EC3 is angry and he wants nothing more than revenge against Trivet and his heavy Ridge Holland. Stating that he will not and never will back down from a fight. EC3 says that the territory doesn't make a difference to him. So if he has to head to Spike Trivet's "manor" to get his revenge then so be it! With that EC3 confirms that he will be there for Manor House Mayhem!
MATCH #5: HANDICAP MATCH
SADIE GIBBS VS. BORNE N BOUJI
A highly anticipated handicap match was the next bout of the night as the unbeaten Sadie Gibbs battled Aliyah and Vanessa Borne. Despite their confidence with having the numbers game we'd quickly see Aliyah and Borne come to have a rude awakening thanks to the speed and power of Gibbs who threw them all over the ring much to the delight of the audience in attendance. After hitting a big press slam followed by a standing moonsault on Vanessa Borne. Gibbs wasted no time in following with an emerald flowsion on Aliyah which was enough for her to pick up the win.
SHEPHERD:
AND THE WINNER OF THE MATCH SADIE GIBBS!
(4:51)
The crowd cheers as the announcement is made and the still undefeated Sadie Gibbs rises to her feet. While Sadie celebrates her win we see Borne and Aliyah beginning to stir as they start crying realizing they had been defeated.
~ NO ENTRY ~
Footage shot by fan cameras from earlier this evening is then played and it focuses on Nathan Cruz and Katherine Darcy making their arrival to the building. The duo however are surprised to find a full team of security waiting for them along with an unimpressed William Regal. Calling Cruz's behavior the previous week unacceptable, William Regal says behavior like that will not be tolerated what so ever. Which is why William Regal has this security here to refuse Cruz entry to the building and send him home. Despite Cruz and Darcy protesting this decision, William says the choice has already been made and he will see them in a few weeks so that they can cool off.
~ WHAT'S HOT VS. WHAT'S NOT ~
A backstage interview is then shown as Frankie B is joined by Persia Pirotta and Indi Hartwell aka Australia's Hottest Commodities. This brash duo of social media influencers are quick to dismiss any warnings or threats issued to them by Dakota Kai and Piper Niven. Deeming the duo as nothing more than wannabes who are jealous of their success and fame. Australia's Hottest Commodities close out this interview with Indi Hartwell proclaiming that soon the world will be talking about the AHC and nothing else!
MATCH #6: SINGLES MATCH
KASEY OWENS VS. KATARINA LEIGH
General manager Katarina Leigh was in action in the next bout of the night and she found that her return to the ring would be far from easy against the vicious Kasey Owens. In what was quite a hard hitting back and forth clash between the two women, we'd see plenty of back and forth brawling between the pair. Both women would have their moments in this match and came close to taking the victory. After being rocked by a mafia kick by Katarina Leigh, Kasey Owens would go for her trusted Singapore cane. As she reentered the ring Kasey prepared to take a swing when Kanji pulled the cane from her hands. This allowed Katarina to pick up the win following the Icebreaker.
SHEPHERD: AND THE WINNER OF THE MATCH KATARINA LEIGH! (7:01)
The crowd cheers as the announcement is made and Katarina Leigh rises to her feet. As Katarina begins to celebrate her victory, we see at ringside a proud Kanji smirks as she throws the cane to the ground.
~ MORE THAN NUMBERS ~
The cameras then quickly direct us towards the locker room area where the pair of Laura Di Matteo and Candy Floss are standing by. This pair of women are fired up as they begin to talk their issues as of late with the House of Couture. Each woman has their own motivations and reasons for their hatred of Jinny and her group and it is through their combined hatred they have united based on this and mutual respect. With that Laura and Candy Floss warn Nina Samuels, Lana Austin and Jinny that they will personally ensure that the house will fall.

MAIN EVENT: SINGLES MATCH
MARK ANDREWS VS. ZACK GIBSON
Finally it was time for the main event of the evening featuring two of WWE UK's top rising stars. With a grudge between them this was quite the heated clash filled with back and forth action. As both men would continue their battle we'd see representatives from their teams would begin to amass at ringside to cheer on their men. It wouldn't take long however for chaos to descend with these opposing factions as a brawl broke out at ringside. This would momentarily distract Mark Andrews who looked to have the match one at this stage while perched atop the ropes. This distraction would allow Gibson to spike Andrews into the mat with a rope hung DDT for the victory
SHEPHERD:
AND THE WINNER OF THE MATCH ZACK GIBSON!
(11:37)
The crowd boos as the announcement is made. Yet despite this order is not restored as the brawl continues at ringside between the two men's teams. With Andrews down, Gibson joins the brawl giving team Barrett a 5 on 3 advantage. As a duo Wade and Gibson throw Balor back first into the guard rail while Fabian Aichner takes down Paul Burchill. At the same time despite his best efforts Ilja Dragunov is overwhelmed by Tyler Bate and Trent Seven. Before this beating can go any further however we see a big suicide dive by Mark Andrews wipe out Fabian Aichner to slightly even the odds. Sadly as Andrews gets to his feet Wade Barrett blasts him with a bull hammer from behind. As Barrett puts the boots to Andrews, we see Tyler Bate and Trent Seven seemingly preparing to hit a spike piledriver on Paul Burchill on the floor. Yet this is cut short when Seven is pulled by the hair over the guard rail by PETE DUNNE! The audience explodes in cheers as Dunne fires off a series of punches at Seven and then hops the rail to do the same to Tyler Bate. This turns the tide of the brawl and allows Burchill, Andrews, Balor and Dragunov to fire back at Team Barrett until Wade and his team are forced to flee. The Show then comes to a close with Pete Dunne joining the rest of the team in the ring.
It can be confirmed today that this past week's edition of WWE UK has had several more departures ahead of it's rumored revamp. The first of the departures which doesn't come as a surprise is that of Aliyah and Vanessa Borne. The Borne N Bouji duo were said to have only been brought to WWE UK for a short excursion in which the pair made for compelling foil for Sadie Gibbs. It's said the duo impressed top brass with their heat getting antics and the belief is that the duo will soon be called up to Monday Night Raw. The second departure is that of Andre Tyson. Tyson of course was moved to the main show from the UK Performance Center to act as Wade Barrett's muscle and personal hired gun. Sadly it's said despite his imposing look and intimidating presence there wasn't much else to take note of with many citing Tyson's ring work as a weakness in his game. This is why on the latest edition of WWE UK, Tyson was viciously assaulted by Fabian Aichner as a means to write him off the show. It's believed more departures are to be announced in the weeks which follow.
WWE UK PRESENTS SHOWCASE: WAR OF THE ROSES
NIGHT 1
YORK COMMUNITY STADIUM | YORK, ENGLAND
MATCH CARD
OPENING MATCH
WWE UK TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
AUSSIE OPEN (KYLE FLETCHER AND MARK DAVIS) (c) VS. OPUS DEI (MARK COFFEY AND NOAM DAR)
The WWE UK Tag Team Championships will be up for grabs in the first match of the night as Aussie Open defend their championships against the pair of Opus Dei. The challengers in the run up to this bout have proven themselves to be a major thorn in the side of the champions. As Noam Dar has shown himself to be quite the distraction with his brash, outspoken ways which have allowed Mark Coffey to land several sneak attacks on the champions. Will these mind games and mental warfare lead to new champions? Or will the champions continue their already impressive title run?
MATCH #2
SINGLES MATCH
KANJI VS. KASEY OWENS
One of the more anticipated and heated clashes set to take place over the course of these two nights is the long awaited collision between Kanji and "The Mother of Chaos" Kasey Owens. This match will also serve as Kanji's first ever singles contest in her fledgling career and she will face a steep task ahead of her against the vicious veteran. Having gone from just a fan in the crowd to a wrestler having endured several attacks from Kasey Owens, Kanji will be looking to pull off the upset of the century. Will we see history made?
MATCH #3
THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS
NIKKI CROSS VS. ISLA DAWN
Having seemingly set her sights against the kingdom of Wonderland, Nikki Cross has been like a woman possessed. Beginning with her victory over the March Hare Aivil who has yet to be seen since and following up with a victory over the white rabbit Jayde, Nikki Cross has put herself firmly in the crosshairs of the Queen. Not willing to watch such attacks against her Kingdom Isla Dawn has pledged to execute this threat personally in the first ever Through the Looking Glass match at the UK Showcase. Will Nikki Cross be able to unseat the Red Queen?
MATCH #4
FORMER FRIENDS COLLIDE
ASHTON SMITH VS. RAMPAGE BROWN
Former friends will collide in York as Ashton Smith takes on Rampage Brown. This duo at one stage had quite the close bond while teaming as the Marauders. Yet following a severe knee injury which benched Ashton Smith, we'd see a new more vicious side to Rampage Brown. Of course we'd since learn this was down to Brown being in deep with the Sharks. Yet that doesn't change the fact that in this time he stood by and watched Ashton Smith take several beatdowns and even joined in on them at Metehan's behest. Even with Brown now free and looking to make amends, Smith isn't willing to move past this and he has personally requested this bout to settle things between them once and for all.
MATCH #5
ROYAL DECREE
JOE HENDRY VS. MIKE KANELLIS
Ever since his arrival to WWE UK, Mike Kanellis has definitely made his fair share of enemies. Thanks to his underhanded tactics and royalist persona since winning the King of the Ring, Mike has found himself with a bevy of enemies including Adam Brooks and Morgan Webster. Yet there is perhaps no foe that has gotten under his skin as much as "The Local Hero" Joe Hendry. From beating all his Throne cohorts to making special songs directed at the king's expense. Hendry has done all he can to incite the king ahead of this match. Will Kanellis finally make Hendry kneel?
MAIN EVENT
WAR OF THE ROSES
TEAM BARRETT (WADE BARRETT, FABIAN AICHNER, ZACK GIBSON, TYLER BATE AND TRENT SEVEN) VS. TEAM KATARINA (PAUL BURCHILL, FINN BALOR, ILJA DRAGUNOV, PETE DUNNE AND MARK ANDREWS)
Finally in the main event of the evening survival will be the name of the game. As in the first of two ten person tag team matches set to take place at this Showcase, we will see Wade Barrett once again compete in a high stakes tag team match. Joining the management consultant will be former champion Fabian Aichner, UK world title tournament winner Zack Gibson, Former UK Champion Tyler Bate and former NXT Tag Team Champion and UK Tag Team Champion Trent Seven. Standing across from them will be the older brother of the woman who's life Wade has made it his mission to ruin. As returning to a WWE ring will be veteran Paul Burchill who will be joined by reigning UK Champion and former WWE universal champion Finn Balor, rising star Ilja Dragunov, Former UK Champion Pete Dunne and the ever popular underdog Mark Andrews. Which team will reign supreme in the first half of the war of the roses?
With rumors circulating regarding WWE UK undergoing an overhaul we have seen quite a fair bit of movement surrounding it's roster which corroborates this rumor. As names such as Danny Burch, Oney Lorcan, Andre Tyson, Aliyah, Vanessa Borne and others have departed the brand in one way or another. Today however we can confirm an exciting new addition who will be making their arrival to the brand at the culmination of this latest showcase. As the ever popular nine year veteran Session Moth Martina has been confirmed to have moved from the UK performance center to the main shows. This shouldn't be considered much of a surprise as Moth like several other talents currently working in the UK PC and appearing on Defiant events have long been seen as locks to appear on the main show in no time. We can confirm though that Martina will be debuting in a very different fashion than one might expect, as Martina will be the host of her own talk show Session Moth's Beer Garden. While many fans maybe clamoring for Martina to step in the ring, it's said that management feel her greatest strengths come from her character work which this show will display. However that doesn't mean she won't be wrestling at all, as it can be noted that Martina has signed an official wrestler's contract with the brand as well.
WWE SHOWCASE WAR OF THE ROSES NIGHT ONE YORK COMMUNITY STADIUM | YORK, ENGLAND
DARK MATCH: CHARLES CROWLEY VS. DAVID FINLAY VS. GRAYSON WALLER VS. WARREN BANKS
Kicking off our evening would be the first of two dark matches to hype up the audience in attendance. The first match would be a fatal four way featuring four standouts from the UK performance center. The first standout of the group thanks to his elaborate entrance was "The Spectacular" Charles Crowley. While Crowley's brash, overly flamboyant nature would rub many the wrong way. We'd see fans quickly rally behind third generation star David Finlay. Also impressing the fans was the powerhouse Warren Banks. While he may not have made much of an impression in the early going the easily disdainable villain Grayson Waller made the biggest impression by ducking out of the ring in the early going before only appearing in the final fleeting moments to roll up Finlay with a handful of tights to steal the win.
WINNER: GRAYSON WALLER (6:01)
DARK MATCH: AOIFE VALKYRIE VS. ELIZA ALEXANDER
The second match before the show officially kicked off was very much a stark contrast to the first. While perhaps not the chaos filled skirmish like it's predecessor. This was a hard hitting and physical contest between two of the WWE UK PC's standout female competitors Aoife Valkyrie and Eliza Alexander. To no surprise Valyrie was the crowd favorite when compared to the brash scouser Alexander. Following a short hard hitting display we'd see Lyra pick up the win following a diving split leg drop.
WINNER: AOIFE VALKYRIE (5:34)
Muse "time is running out" plays in the background as a video package focuses on all the goings on in the run up to tonight's Showcase event. The video package focuses heavily on the saga between Wade Barrett and Katarina which of course will be a big theme over both events with it being a fight for survival between the two. The other bouts of the night also receive their fair amount of focus in the package with both the Rampage Brown/Ashton Smith bout and the Kanji/Kasey Owens contests also having a lot of their history covered. Once the video comes to an end the show opens up from inside the York Community Stadium. Before a sold out crowd in attendance John Gooden welcomes us to this huge event before he introduces us to his guest announce colleague for the evening Nigel McGuinness. Nigel is honored to be here tonight for what he calls one of the biggest night's in UK wrestling history. Following a short run down of the card, John Gooden sends us backstage towards our backstage correspondents.
Ahead of our first match of the night we are shown two pre-match interviews which feature the two teams set to compete in this tag team match. Handling the interview for Aussie Open would be Joanna Rose while Frankie B would be charged with interviewing Opus Dei. The first interview shown would focus on the challengers Opus Dei. As always per their usual dynamic it was Noam Dar who did the majority of the talking while Mark Coffey stood behind him. The picture of confidence Noam Dar seemed fully convinced that victory was at hand tonight. Stating that week after week they have outsmarted and out classed the champions, Noam Dar claims to be living in the heads of Aussie Open rent free. Calling his team with Mark Coffey the perfect blend of size and speed not to mention force and technique. Dar boldly predicts that tonight is the end of Aussie Open and coronation of the greatest team in UK tag team wrestling Opus Dei!
Following on from this would be an interview conducted with the UK tag team champions Aussie Open. Unlike the brash proclamations by Noam Dar, the champions very much are more reserved and humble in their promo. Also unlike Opus Dei, both members of Aussie Open do their fair share of talking with Mark Davis kicking things off. Saying that he has heard all of Noam Dar's brash claims about being in their heads, Mark says that Dar isn't the first cocksure individual they've encountered nor is he the first they've known to try and play the mental game. Yet when the time comes for them to get the job done, they find that Aussie Open hasn't fallen for their tricks and they will be the constant of the UK tag team division. Showing a bit more fire in his speech than his partner Kyle Fletcher says that tonight it is time to put up or shut up for Opus Dei. Saying that Opus Dei is a pair of individuals who are with each other through convenience, Kyle Fletcher knows that when they get into a sink or swim situation. They will sacrifice the other in order to survive. Tonight under the brightest spotlights in the biggest match they have had to date, Kyle Fletcher says this is sink or swim for Opus Dei and he's confident that when the time comes he'll be proven right that they aren't a true tag team.
MATCH #1: TAG TEAM MATCH (Referee: Oscar Harding)
TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
AUSSIE OPEN ("AUSSIE ARROW" KYLE FLETCHER AND "DUNKZILLA" MARK DAVIS) {C} VS. OPUS DEI ("GALLOWGLASS" MARK COFFEY AND "CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA" NOAM DAR)
The bell rings to kick off our opening bout of the night which of course would be for our tag team championships. With the bad blood simmering between these two teams it would be no surprise that the opening few seconds of this match was a wild pier six brawl with all four men really pushing the referee's restraint and leniency as they battled in the center of the ring. Once the referee was able to restore order we'd see Noam Dar and Kyle Fletcher begin this match officially for their respective teams. As one might expect Noam Dar looked to slow this match right down from the fired up Aussie Arrow as he looked to not only ground Kyle Fletcher but also work over his left shoulder and elbow.
However while Dar did have some early success with this style to begin with, it would be noted that Fletcher was a better grappler than many including Noam Dar expected him to be. Shown to be a proficient chain wrestler in his own right, Fletcher always seemed to be scrambling for position and this looked to have flustered Noam Dar who would resort to some less than savory tactics including fish hooking Kyle's mouth and later a blatant eye poke to maintain his top position and control. The audience in attendance unsurprisingly were solidly behind the champions which caused Noam Dar to verbally joust with the crowd as he berated them for overlooking his efforts.
Dar's lack of focus soon played a factor in this bout as it allowed Kyle Fletch a chance to not only get back to his feet but also make a comeback with a few stiff kicks which was then followed with a running single leg dropkick right to the jaw for a quick 2 count. Sadly Fletcher's comeback would be short lived as a well timed distraction by Mark Coffey allowed Noam Dar to hit Fletcher with an arm ringer before making the tag out to his partner. While nowhere near as boisterous or flash as his partner Mark Coffey was just as willing to bend if not break the rules albeit in a different fashion. Because Mark Coffey lacked the subtle, tactile approach of Dar yet his more vicious style of cheating including choking Fletcher on the ropes and not releasing holds right away was just as if not more so damaging.
One arcing story through this match was Opus Dei's surprisingly tight teamwork despite their lack of tenure as a team. The pair seemed very focused and had a solid game plan which involved isolating Kyle Fletcher and keeping the powerhouse Mark Davis from the ring. With the commentary team themselves in particular William Regal crediting Dar and Coffey for cutting the ring in half and utilizing quick tags between one another to maintain this advantage. On top of this strategy the pair used some impressive double team moves to further wear down Fletcher. This spurred the audience along to root for Fletcher all the more as his refusal to stay down and his will to make the tag only grew despite the odds.
Sadly in the moments that Fletcher would come close it seemed that Opus Dei had prepared for this as well with Dar and Coffey not being afraid to take a shot at Davis in order to knock him off the apron. To his credit and a testament to his experience Davis was able to stay calm and focused on the task at hand as he did al he good to rally himself and the audience behind Fletcher. However just as things seemed to be looking bleak for the champions we'd see a miscommunication between Opus Dei lead to Mark Coffey inadvertently hitting Noam Dar. This opening allowed Kyle Fletcher to connect with a DDT on Mark. Having both members of Opus Dei knocked down Kyle Fletcher finally made the tag out to Mark Davis much to the delight of the fans.
Hitting the ring a fired up Mark Davis very much started to clean house as he punished both Noam Dar and Mark Coffey. After picking up a near fall following a fall away slam, it appeared the tide of the match had very much turned. This would be until Noam Dar again tried to bend the rules in an effort to get momentum back on his side. However it seemed with the tide turning a flustered Noam Dar's interference would backfire as while his assist allowed Mark Coffey to hit a neck breaker on Mark Davis. Unfortunately in Dar's diversion he'd also distract the referee while Coffey made a cover. Entering the ring having seen enough of these shenanigans, Kyle Fletcher to a pop from the crowd would blast Noam Dar with a single leg dropkick.
With Dar falling out of the ring, Mark Coffey attacked Kyle Fletcher from behind with a series of forearm strikes. This would be until Mark Davis spun Coffey around and connected with a headbutt. This staggered Coffey badly and sent him tumbling back into a superkick to the back of the head by Fletcher. Coffey takes a knee having been rocked badly by this series of blows and Aussie Open quickly follow up with Coriolis. The crowd are on their feet as Mark Davis makes the cover while Kyle Fletcher lays out Noam Dar with a suicide dive at ringside. 1...2...3!
Andy Shepherd:
And the winners of the match and still champions.. AUSSIE OPEN!
(12:53)
The crowd in attendance are on their feet as the announcement is made and Mark Davis rises to his feet. Soon after Mark is joined in ring by Kyle Fletcher as the pair begin to celebrate their hard fought victory. While they do so at ringside a disappointed Noam Dar begins arguing with several fans in attendance before storming backstage.
~ BARRETT'S BARRAGE ~
A pre taped promo then airs to the tune of Boltcutter by Bury Tomorrow. The promo package focuses solely on Wade Barrett as he is sat in the GM's office behind the desk. Over the course of this promo Wade says that if there is anything that he has proven since his days as an in ring competitor with WWE, it's that he is a born leader of men. Comparing himself to great men such as Winston Churchill, Wade Barrett says that he has constantly took those under his leadership and brought them further up the ladder than they'd ever dreamed of. While his own in ring days maybe winding down, Wade says that he still has that capability to bring people up to levels further than they could ever imagine. Now while when he first came to the UK Brand he hoped he could do this with Katarina Leigh and her managerial style.
Wade quickly realized that some people can't be helped. So rather than let Katarina bring the brand down any further with her unprofessionalism and subpar management. He'd elect to do what a true leader would do which is stand up and take action for himself personally. Admitting that his methods may have been rash and have been met with great scrutiny. Wade says that with any change in management or leadership there are complications and those who stand against it. However he hopes that following his show of force everyone will realize that all he has ever done is put the UK brand first. His goal has been to lead it to the next level even if that means culling a few undesirables and tearing this brand down so that his vision can rise from the ashes.
Ahead of our second match of the evening we'd see two separate interviews conducted with the participants in the upcoming match. The first interview shown would take us to the locker room area where an anxious Kanji was pacing back and forth. Standing by in the locker room with Kanji for support are the trio of Dakota Kai, Laura Di Matteo and Candy Floss. While conducting the interview would be Joanna Rose. Showing a fair share of anxiety ahead of her first ever singles match at the biggest even she had competed with today. Kanji says that she knows she is the underdog tonight against Kasey Owens and she understands that everyone is expecting her to get demolished. But tonight to her isn't about winning and losing. It's also a lot more than pulling off upsets and shocking the world. Tonight for Kanji is about earning respect, with every word Kanji grows more confidence as she says that she is sick of being looked down upon by Kasey Owens. Kasey maybe more experienced and she may have more experience in a fight. But Kanji knows she will surprise Kasey Owens tonight and not only will she earn her respect but she will also live out her dream as a wrestler with her first singles victory! With Kanji's confidence on display Kai, Di Matteo and Candy all begin applauding her to signify their belief in the young prospect.
The second interview meanwhile takes us away from the locker room and instead to the hallway of the arena where Kasey Owens is sat on a production crate. This interview meanwhile is conducted by Frankie B who appears to be slightly anxious of joining the volatile Owens. Unlike Kanji who showed a lot of emotion and nerves regarding their upcoming bout, the Mother of Chaos is eerily calm as she looks at tonight as no different from any of her other matches that she's had with the UK Brand. If anything for her in comparison to some of her battles against the likes of Dakota Kai and Laura Di Matteo for example, Kasey sees tonight as a night off. As she isn't stepping in that ring with a skilled striker or a dangerous grappler, nor is she matched up with some technical wizard. Instead she is facing a deluded little girl who doesn't belong in the ring with her or anyone for that matter. Remarking that she is sick of everyone pretending it is sweet that little Kanji gets to live out her dreams. Kasey Owens calls tonight a cold dose of reality that dreams can easily become nightmares and people get hurt in that ring all the time. People who Kasey describes as a lot tougher and more deserving of being here than Kanji. This includes Kasey's own sister who had to retire from the ring only to now see pretenders like Kanji step up and take her place. Which is why Kasey Owens doesn't feel any pressure about tonight. Because she's going in there with someone who isn't good enough and this is her chance to show it.
MATCH #2: SINGLES MATCH (Referee: Artemis Ortygie)
"MOTHER OF CHAOS" KASEY OWENS VS. "ASIAN SENSATION" KANJI
The bell rings to start the next match of the night and it quickly becomes apparent that Kasey Owens isn't so much under estimating Kanji as rather she isn't taking her seriously what so ever. This was on full display through the early going as Kasey immediately took down Kanji and proceeded to palm Kanji's face several times all the while screaming at her that she doesn't belong here and that she never will. This would cause Kanji to fire up as she pushed Kasey off of her but with her temper getting the best of her, Kanji was quickly taken down to the mat again by Kasey who this time trapped her in a hammerlock.
Taunting her inexperienced opponent as she kept her grounded on the mat, Kasey Owens would also delight in throwing some barbs at the audience telling them that none of them would be good enough to do what she does. With the crowd slowly coming behind her Kanji would try to rise to her feet only for Kasey to hook a waist lock and throw her down to the mat. Before Kanji could even get to a knee a running kick to her midsection followed which sent Kanji falling under the ropes and out to the floor. While Kanji wheezed in pain at ringside, in the ring Kasey Owens posed before the crowd as she continued to trash Kanji for making a joke of the wrestling business.
On getting to her feet Kanji would attempt to slide under the ropes but she'd be met with a boot to the head by Kasey. This very much would be a continuing narrative throughout the bout as Kasey Owens played against Kanji's emotions stirring her up into rash decisions which she'd prey on to punish her inexperienced opponent. At around the 5 minute mark Kasey Owens would clamp Kanji in her trademark cross face chicken wing and drag her to the mat with a body scissors to hold her in position. Screaming out in pain as she was trapped in the hold Kanji showed some grit and toughness as despite the referee asking if she'd wish to surrender, Kanji refused. With Kanji trapped in this painful submission, a concerned Dakota Kai rushed down to the ring with a white towel in hand. Rushing to that side of the apron it seemed like Kai was considering throwing in the towel. Yet Kanji despite the pain was insistent to not stop the match.
Owens meanwhile continued to work the hold as best she could and would even begin taunting the conflicted Dakota Kai that she's going to break Kanji. Yet it seemed with this trash talk Kasey had taken her eyes off the ball as Kanji managed to roll Kasey on her back leading to the referee making a quick count of two. With the body scissors being broken by Kasey's kickout, Kanji would be able to begin to get to her feet and she'd ram Kasey back first into the corner to break the submission once and for all. Her best move countered seemingly caught Owens off guard as now she was the aggressor and would take the fight right to Kanji. Having Kanji reeling with some hard punches and kicks in the early going it seemed the fact that Kanji wasn't staying down really would begin to throw Kasey Owens off her game while Dakota Kai and the audience willed Kanji on.
Soon Dakota would be joined at ringside by Laura Di Matteo and Candy Floss who were also there to cheer Kanji on as she managed to fire back with some more offense of her own. Yet one wild swing by Kanji would put her off balance and lead to her taking a knee. This allowed Kasey to try for the Crossface Chickenwing again but Kanji in a last ditch would stand up and run forward this time sending Kasey face first into the corner when she ducked down. With Owens badly stunned by this move as she actually fell to a knee, Kanji follows up with a Hidden Blade! Owens collapses to the mat in a heap and Kanji makes a quick cover. 1...2...3
Andy Shepherd:And the winner of the match... KANJI!
(7:01)
The crowd explode with cheers as the announcement is made and a kneeling Kanji slams her hands down on the mat hard. Overcome with emotion Kanji soon breaks down into tears as she remains on her knees. Yet soon she is joined in ring by Laura Di Matteo, Candy Floss and Dakota Kai. Kai quickly snatches her protégé in a hug as Kanji continues to cry having picked up her first ever singles victory.
~ GET THE DRINKS IN ~
"Brace yourselves lads as the night isn't done and the party is only just getting started!"
Session Moth's Beer Garden is coming!
~ TEAM WORK ~
The cameras then divert us to the locker room area where Team Katarina is gathered. Standing before his team mates for their match later on this evening. Paul Burchill seems very focused on the task at hand as he looks to rally the troops behind him tonight. Reigning UK Champion Finn Balor is the next to speak as he says that they all know tonight to expect the unexpected as they know for a fact there is no limit to Barrett's machinations. Mark Andrews follows however by saying that the difference between their team tonight and Barrett's team is that they are all here for one another unlike Barrett's team of mercenaries there is a mutual respect between them all and a want to save this brand. Ilja Dragunov nodded his head in agreement before he said there's a difference between fighting for profit and fighting for survival. Tonight they will show everyone that difference. The one member of the team who didn't join in the talk was Pete Dunne who remained stoic in the corner. After a few moments, Dunne would leave the room simply muttering let's do this without a second glance at his team mates.
Ahead of the next match of the night of the evening we'd be shown our next installment of pre-match interviews. Unlike the previous two installments of this segment it seemed there wasn't a good choice for either Joanna Rose or Frankie B regarding who they could interview. It would be Frankie whose interview was first shown as she went into the dark confines of the arena boiler room where a rabid Nikki Cross was pacing back and forth. Under her breath Cross would continue to mutter to herself until Frankie broke the silence by asking Nikki to give some thoughts ahead of her through the looking glass match with Isla Dawn. Seemingly calming down for a brief moment Nikki Cross said tonight was time to expose Wonderland's dark secret. Again muttering to herself over and over again that she knows. Remarking that she is well aware of Isla Dawn and her true evil intentions. Calling tonight a mission, Cross begins ranting and raving that she will rip Wonderland apart tonight.
In contrast to the first interview which took place on the premises of the building. Joanna Rose for her interview would be brought to a secret location. So secret that she'd have to wear a blindfold which would be removed by "The White Rabbit" Jayde. Greeting Joanna warmly, Jayde is quick to escort Joanna through a large wooden door to the Queen's personal chambers. Here "The Red Queen" Isla Dawn is sat on a stool with a goblet in her hand. Judging from her expression, the queen is in a bad mood and cuts right to the chase about her match against Nikki Cross. Remarking that one's potential as a leader is shown with how they handle threats. Isla Dawn brands Nikki Cross a threat to her kingdom. Yet tonight is a chance for her to show her capability as a leader. By showing that she is both capable of kindness in saving her kingdom while showing her capability of cruelty in the means she will use to rid them of Nikki Cross. Commenting that she is not one to often get her hands dirty. Isla says tonight she will take pleasure in acting as Wonderland's personal executioner.
MATCH #3: THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS (Referee: Chris Sharpe)
"THE RED QUEEN" ISLA DAWN VS. "THE TWISTED SISTER" NIKKI CROSS
While the rules may not have been made entirely clear ahead of time we'd be informed by our commentary team that this match would be contested under falls count anywhere rules. To the surprise of no one in attendance with the bad blood which had amassed between the pair. Nikki Cross and Isla Dawn wasted little time in getting down to business as they met in the center of the ring and would begin trading punches back and forth between one another. In the ensuing brawl we'd see Nikki Cross firing off punches and elbows at Isla and would begin rattling the Red Queen much to the delight of the crowd.
Cross' onslaught however would soon be intercepted thanks to the arrival of Jayde at ringside. A devout and loyal follower of the queen, Jayde looked to support her queen in anyway possible but soon she'd be dragged into the ring and hit with a DDT by Nikki Cross. Continuing her onslaught Nikki Cross would hit her opponent with a thesz press and rain punches down onto Isla until Dawn rolled out of the ring. The queen would be given no rest however as Cross hit the ropes and would crash into Dawn with a suicide dive. On commentary it would be John Gooden who said that Dawn hadn't stepped in the ring until recently since taking this role as a queen so he suspects ring rust maybe playing a part in her struggles.
A snap suplex on the floor by Nikki would pick her up another near fall before Jayde once again got involved. This time however the interference by Jayde would play dividends as a kick across the back on Nikki allowed Isla to drop toe hold Nikki into the ring steps. This assist very much allowed for a turn around in the momentum of the bout as we'd see Isla Dawn begin to take control and punish Nikki with some hard forearm strikes before she'd plant Cross with a T-Bone suplex out on the floor for a near fall. Barking orders at Jayde to get her a chair, Isla seemed ready to end things as she climbed up onto the ring apron with the chair. All the while Jayde would begin to pick up Nikki Cross, before Isla could leap off with the chair however Nikki would spin out and throw Jayde towards Isla.
The queen in response to this would quickly hop to the side of the apron but in doing so she'd discard of the chair which Nikki quickly got ahold of and began to hit Isla across the back with it. A shot to the midsection of Jayde soon followed and Cross would continue to punish both women with the chair much to the delight of the crowd. With the frenzied Cross in control, Isla Dawn would begin crawling up the stage while Nikki proceeded to toss Jayde over the guard rail. Following Dawn up the ramp Nikki had the chair in hand but as she raised it above her head she'd be grabbed by the belt of her pants by Isla Dawn who managed to pull her face first into the set at the top of the ramp. With Nikki stunned, Isla followed with a back suplex on the steel ramp for a near fall.
Soon Isla would be joined on the stage by Jayde. With the commentary team effectively branding this match a handicap match it appeared that Dawn and Jayde were looking to finish off Nikki with what looked like a double DDT on the stage. Nikki however manages to fight her way free before blasting Dawn with a forearm strike. A series of elbows to Jayde then follows before Nikki plants Jayde with the twisted sister on the ramp. The crowd are on their feet as Nikki climbs to her feet only to turn into a vicious boot to the chest by Isla which sends Nikki crashing off of the stage and onto the floor below. Landing with a thud, Nikki is motionless as Isla follows her to the ground and hoists Nikki up before planting her with the call of quarters for the win.
Andy Shepherd:
And the winner of the match... Isla Dawn!
(8:14)
The crowd erupts into boos as the announcement is made and Isla Dawn rises to her feet. The Red Queen is quick to climb up onto the ramp. Here Isla has her arm raised in the air by the official before she is slowly joined by Jayde. As the duo begin to walk backstage, the official begins to check on the downed Nikki Cross.
WWE European Title tournament begins in 2 weeks time!
Ahead of the next match we are then shown some pre taped interviews featuring the two participants set to compete. The first interview shown takes place in the locker room area of the building as Joanna Rose is standing by with a quietly confident Ashton Smith. Having personally asked for this match Ashton seems to be at peace despite facing his former friend, mentor and training partner Rampage Brown. Remarking that he's had fall outs with Brown in the past, Smith admits that those times he always felt hesitant about fighting Brown. Yet now he knows that the friendship is done and their partnership will never be rekindled. Ashton is looking at tonight as just another match and Rampage Brown as just another opponent to defeat in order to take the next step ahead. It is with that Ashton Smith closes out this interview by saying tonight not only puts his demons to bed once and for all but allows Smith to put all this behind him so that he can focus on the next chapter of his career.
Following this would be an interview taking place in the corridor of the building as Frankie B would be joined by a fired up Rampage Brown. During this interview it is clear that unlike Ashton Smith who is quite calm regarding their battle tonight, Rampage Brown is very pissed off and has a massive chip on his shoulder. Saying that he has made it crystal clear that this match is not something he wants to do. Acknowledging that he has done a lot of bad things to a lot of innocent people. Brown puts the blame solely on Ashton for this match taking place as he remarks that he gave Ashton Smith countless opportunities to walk away before it got this far. Yet Smith had to continue to keep pushing and prodding him leading to this. Now Brown has to know that after tonight he will be forced to live with what he does to Ashton Smith in that ring.
MATCH #4: SINGLES MATCH (Referee: Darryl Sharma)
"THE PRESTIGE" ASHTON SMITH VS. "THE MARAUDER" RAMPAGE BROWN
The bell rings to start the fourth match of the night which would get off to a quick start as Ashton Smith charged at Rampage Brown with a running knee strike backing Brown up into the corner. Smith's aggressive start would clearly take Rampage Brown off guard as Smith would fire off a series of punches and elbows at Brown. This would be until Brown utilized his power to throw Ashton Smith back across the ring. This would be followed by Rampage Brown charging from out the corner to blast Ashton Smith with a hard shoulder tackle putting his former friend down on the canvas. It would be then that we'd see the aggression from Brown as he mounted Ashton and began clubbing him with hard forearms.
It would appear that the official would give both men some leeway regarding some of their attacks knowing fully well of their history. Climbing to his feet Rampage Brown would proceed to stomp on Ashton Smith several times until Ashton managed to catch his foot and shove it away. Rising to his feet Ashton Smith caught another kick by Rampage Brown before he'd follow up with a dragon screw onto Rampage Brown which appeared to be a game changer as following this Rampage Brown would noticeably be walking with a limp on his right side. Yet this didn't mean that Brown was out of the fight as not long after he'd catch Ashton Smith running off from the ropes with an absolutely vicious lariat which put him down with force. This would lead to a close near fall much to Brown's chagrin.
Showing the same volatile temperament he did in his earlier promo Brown would dead lift Ashton Smith up in the air before throwing him across the ring with a gut wrench suplex. The audience in attendance would rally behind Ashton Smith in an attempt to will him to mount a comeback. However things would continue to look bleak sadly as Smith would soon be crushed with a spear which folded Ashton Smith in half. Tossing Smith out of the ring, Rampage Brown would soon follow and he'd launch Smith into the guard rail while screaming at him that he deserved this and barking at him that he is making him do this. On top of this Brown would pick Smith up in a powerbomb position before running him back first into the ring post.
With Smith screaming in pain Brown would toss Ashton back into the ring at the count of 7. Following Ashton in the ring, Rampage again would go for a cover but much to his surprise Ashton again kicked out at two. Showing signs of frustration getting to him, Rampage Brown tossed Ashton into the corner before charging at him for a corner spear only for Smith to side step and Brown to go shoulder first in the ring post. Quickly Smith then followed up with a chop block to the knee of Brown which put him down on the canvas. Despite being weakened we'd see Smith begin to rally back as he'd chip away at Rampage Brown's knee before following up with some of his trademark offense. A superkick from Smith would pick him up a near fall with the tide seemingly turning in this bout. From here Ashton would continue to work over Brown's leg but it became apparent that he was having some issues of his own with his back.
With both men weak it seemed even when one was close to being finished they would find a way back in. Looking to wrap things up Rampage Brown would nail Ashton with another lariat before he looked to set him up for a torture rack, unfortunately for Brown his leg would give out on him and cause him to drop to a knee. Rising to his feet Smith would lock eyes with Brown before both men would seemingly come to an understanding. Smith could be heard asking Brown if he was ready and in the first calm moment he'd had during this match. Brown almost seemed at peace as he nodded his head before Smith connected with a superkick to the kneeling Brown and made a cover for the win.
Andy Shepherd:
And the winner of the match... Ashton Smith!
(10:56)
The crowd in attendance cheers as the announcement is made and slowly Ashton Smith climbs to his feet in the ring. Still feeling the effects of this battle, Smith stumbles back against the ropes while the official checks on Rampage Brown. After taking a few moments to regain his composure Ashton Smith would head over to the downed Brown and aid the referee in helping Rampage to his feet. The two men would then lock eyes before Brown snatched Smith in a tight hug much to the crowds' delight. From there Brown would follow by raising Smith's arm high in the air.
~ THY KINGDOM COME ~
A promo package then plays to the tune of Throne by Bring me the Horizon. The video package focuses on the history between the "Local Hero" Joe Hendry and "King" Mike Kanellis. Starting with the story of Mike Kanellis and his time with the WWE so far. Having debuted with the company at the same time as his wife Maria made her return. These two quickly rubbed fans the wrong way with their often over the top pubic displays of affection while also causing trouble for talents such as Sami Zayn. Both of these aspects of Maria and Mike's reputation would carry over to his arrival on the UK brand as Kanellis would target Morgan Webster. Aided not just by Maria but also by hired guns Drew Gulak and Tony Nese, Kanellis greatly leant into the numbers game as he won matches against Webster, Ashton Smith and Mark Andrews among others.
Soon his advantage would only grow at the showcase which followed as Hendry's ranks were further increased by former tag team champions Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas. It would be thanks to these numbers that not only would Mike Kanellis remain undefeated since his arrival to the UK Brand but soon he'd add a new accolade to his resume. As much to the chagrin of the UK fans, Mike Kanellis would become the latest in the lines of King of the Ring winners. This would be thanks to copious interference throughout the tournament from his 'subjects' allowing him to pick up wins over individuals like Bandido and Joe Hendry on the way to the finals were brass knuckles proved to be the real difference maker against Morgan Webster. Yet it would be with this win that Kanellis found a new enemy standing against him.
Having also made his debut at Showcase Sydney in a ten person tag team match. It is safe to say that there hasn't been many arrivals to the UK Brand who have attracted as much attention in such a short time. Thanks to some impressive wins and also his off the charts showmanship, Hendry despite at points showing quite the ego himself has morphed into one of the brands top stars and ones to watch. This would be on firm display when after Mike picked up another tainted win over Morgan Webster, Joe Hendry appeared on the titantron to play a special song he'd composed for the king by the name of "I already know what love is.. I don't need you to show me". This song would incite Kanellis and his faction which was now going by the name of the Throne as Mike swore blind that he would make Hendry recognize his king.
Since that time Hendry has had to endure numerous attacks and interference at the hands of Kanellis and his group. While normally a bit of a lone wolf with his own self interests at heart. We'd see this continued thread lead to Hendry forming some alliances of his own as he allied himself with the likes of Morgan Webster and Adam Brooks to combat Kanellis and his Throne. This would all of course build to the war of the roses were both men would collide in singles competition with the added stipulation that should Hendry lose this match, then he would kneel before King Kanellis and take his place in the throne as Kanellis' own jester.
Straight after the video package had been completed we'd be then played the latest series of pre match interviews. The first interview would be conducted inside the Throne's personal dressing room as Joanna Rose is standing by with Mike Kanellis and his wife Maria. Doing most of the talking for the early stages of this interview Maria is highly dismissive towards Joanna Rose and very much begins talking down about Mike's opponent Joe Hendry. Saying that tonight is about sending a message to the world that they do not ever want to enrage their king. Maria then stands back as her husband Mike begins to talk and he is very fired up. The seething King pledges that tonight he will make Joe Hendry pay for his attempts to degrade his reign and that when tonight is finished the world will see Joe as the clown he truly he is. Which is why it's only fitting that by the end of tonight Joe Hendry will be forced to sing and dance like the jester he is.
From here we are then brought to the hallway of the building where Frankie B is joined by Joe Hendry. Unlike the seething rage which was on display from Mike Kanellis, Joe Hendry is the picture of calm and also is highly confident about his upcoming match with Mike Kanellis. Speaking proudly of what he's accomplished so far as part of the UK Brand, Joe Hendry says that he hasn't come to this brand just to be a bit player. He has designs on being at the very top of the WWE UK brand. In order to do so however Joe Hendry also has to live up to the moniker that his fans have come to regard him as that of course being the Local Hero. Saying that he feels it's his duty to help clean up the WWE UK Brand, Joe Hendry says that he considers taking Mike Kanellis down a peg or two as a public service for the WWE Universe. This is why when he's done with Mike Kanellis his throne will crumble and he will no longer show his face in a WWE UK ring.
MATCH #5: SINGLES MATCH (Referee: Chris Hatch)
"LOCAL HERO" JOE HENDRY VS. "KING" MIKE KANELLIS W/MARIA KANELLIS
Despite the bad blood and deep rooted animosity among this pair of competitors. It appeared in the early goings of this contest that both men would keep things controlled and technical. Perhaps in an attempt to send a message by out wrestling one another we'd see some back and forth chain wrestling in the early going. This would greatly begin to favor Joe Hendry as the match wore on thanks of course to his impressive amateur wrestling pedigree. Clearly getting out classed and out grappled would begin to take it's toll mentally on Mike Kanellis who eventually made a point of rolling out to the floor in an effort to regroup.
Joe Hendry meanwhile in an attempt to remain on the offensive would follow Mike Kanellis out to the floor. Backing up and away from Hendry, Kanellis soon showed there was no depths he wouldn't stoop to as he hid behind his own wife using her as a shield. While Hendry may have been wise to such tactics it was no doubt effective as Kanellis used this diversion to connect with a left hook to the jaw of Joe Hendry. With Hendry wobbled by this blow Mike was allowed back into the bout as he proceeded to drive Joe back first into the ring apron. From here Mike celebrated with a kiss with his wife drawing him more ire and outrage from the fans in attendance.
Looking to continue his momentum building Mike soon follow up by throwing Hendry into the guard rail before reentering the ring. Continuing his trail of offense in the ring Mike Kanellis seemed content to work over the midsection and lower back areas of Joe Hendry. This effort was praised by William Regal who cited this tactic as Kanellis' way of reducing the suplexes and amateur style of his opponent. Continuing this brand of offense Hendry at one stage clamped on a bow and arrow submission hold to further torture his foe. The entire time he was working over his foe, Kanellis could be heard trash talking his foe informing him that he will kneel before him.
Picking up a near fall following a sit out spine buster Mike Kanellis seemed convinced that he had the match in hand. Dragging Joe to his feet, Kanellis would begin to hoist Hendry up onto his shoulders when Joe managed to fire off several elbows to the side of Kanellis' head. With one of the blows wobbling Kanellis, Hendry managed to drop down behind Kanellis before in an act of desperation, Hendry was able to plant Kanellis with an olympic slam. Both Joe Hendry and Mike Kanellis would be laid out on the canvas following this slam as the crowd rallied behind Joe Hendry. With all the damage done Hendry is slow to get to his feet and it is Mike who beats him up as he follows up with a kick to the stomach of a prone Hendry.
At ringside Maria Kanellis seemed very happy with her husband's work so far in this match as Mike Kanellis fired off several punches to Hendry. Dragging Joe to his feet, Mike Kanellis soon readied Hendry for a piledriver only for Joe to pull his legs out from under him. Hendry would then follow up with a sling shot sending Mike Kanellis crashing face first into the turnbuckle. Staggering backwards Kanellis was then spun around yet again by Hendry who put him down with a DDT for a near fall. With both men down it seemed that Maria was nearly at breaking point as she'd bark at the back for the Throne to come on down to the ring.
Quickly cameras would cut to the backstage area however where both Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas had been laid out with steel chair shots by Morgan Webster and Adam Brooks. Maria would watch on stunned realizing that her husband would be forced to go it alone while commentary revealed that Tony Nese and Drew Gulak were not at the building and were in fact preparing for their match on night two of Showcase. Slowly both Hendry and Kanellis would rise to their feet before they'd begin trading punches back and forth with one another. Ducking under a punch of Hendry, Kanellis drove Hendry into the canvas with a box office smash for a near fall.
Showing some frustration at the resiliency of Joe Hendry, Mike covertly had Maria slide in his diamond wedding ring. Placing it on his fingers, Mike would have Maria distract the referee as he prepared to drill Hendry with the ring. Hendry however had the where with all to duck the shot and Mike stumbled forward nearly into his wife Maria. This caused Maria to drop off of the apron in a panic while Hendry managed to roll up Kanellis in a tight school boy pinning position for the victory.
Andy Shepherd:
And the winner of the match... Joe Hendry!
(17:58)
The crowd cheers as the announcement is made and Joe Hendry rolls out of the ring quickly. As a smiling Joe Hendry backs his way against the guard rail where he is patted on the back several times over by the fans in attendance. While Hendry begins to celebrate back in the ring Mike Kanellis takes a knee in disbelief at what has happened. He is soon joined by an equally stunned Maria while Joe Hendry walks up the ramp.
~ WARFARE ~
A video package is then played and it focuses on the build to the main event of the evening. Set to the tune of Everyone Relax by Chasing Cadence this promo package would greatly detail Wade Barrett's hold over the WWE United Kingdom Brand. This would begin of course with the seeds planted by the anarchistic attacks by Fabian Aichner on the UK Brand. Aichner and his actions which very much held the brand and the UK Championship hostage. This would bring the reign of Katarina Leigh into question and this would be Wade Barrett's long game beginning as he'd be brought in to oversee the brand and work alongside Katarina Leigh.
While at first Wade's intentions seemed pure and his motivations appeared genuine and for the benefit of the brand. Yet as we'd soon see Wade would begin operating in part against Katarina's wishes. From granting Faian Aichner title opportunities to 'accidental' acts of sabotage against those who were loyal to Katarina Leigh. It was a solid 6 months before we'd see Wade Barrett's true intentions. As follow a spate of 'random' backstage attacks it was revealed that the assailants were the combined force of Marcel Barthel, Clement Petiot, Kip Sabian, James Drake and Zack Gibson. With this reveal we'd see the hostile take over begin with the roster turning on itself in a violent attack with Barrett and Aichner at the helm.
Standing firmly against Wade Barrett and his self proclaimed regime change would be the reigning UK Champion Finn Balor. Seeing right through Barrett's veiled proclamations Finn was adamant in siding with Katarina who very much opened the door for him to come to the UK Brand at Showcase Sydney. Right by his side would be a stalwart of the WWE UK roster Mark Andrews who had been with the brand since it's very inception and who had also been a recipient of one of the aforementioned attacks. The third name standing with them would be a recently arrived Ilja Dragunov who like Finn made his debut in Sydney. A man of principle and honor, it never sat with Ilja how Barrett took over the brand.
Along with Barrett and Aichner one group who quickly stood by their side was that of British Strong Style. The group of Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate and Trent Seven had long been against Katarina Leigh and their deemed unfair treatment. However as Barrett's regime change took hold. Surprisingly it appeared that Pete Dunne would begin having some doubts and regrets regarding their alignment with Barrett. Believing that the group was better than being the two bit thugs they'd been acting as it would be Dunne's doubts which allowed him to be blinded and betrayed by his allies as Trent Seven and Tyler Bate would round out Barrett's collective comprised of himself, Aichner and Gibson.
With an axe to grind Pete Dunne would surprisingly align himself with Balor, Andrews and Dragunov. Yet they still needed one more name to make their team. While many may have looked to the brand and someone perceived as the future. Instead Katarina's final, haunting revelation to unveil the final member of her team would be a face from the past her past to be specific. As Katarina proved that the old adage blood is thicker than water with the revelation of her brother Paul Burchill being the final member of her team for this high stakes elimination tag team match.
MAIN EVENT: ELIMINATION TAG TEAM MATCH (Referee: Thomas Scarborough)
TEAM BARRETT ("NEXT LEVEL" FABIAN AICHNER, "THE DON" TRENT SEVEN, "TEXTBOOK" TYLER BATE, "THE PINNACLE" WADE BARRETT AND "LIVERPOOLS' NUMBER ONE" ZACK GIBSON) VS. TEAM KATARINA ("THE PRINCE" FINN BALOR, "UNBESIEGBAR" ILJA DRAGUNOV, "lIGHTNING" MARK ANDREWS, "THE RIPPER" PAUL BURCHILL AND "THE BRUISERWEIGHT" PETE DUNNE)
It was finally time for the main event which of course was our high stakes elimination tag team match between Team Wade and Team Katarina. Kicking off the match for their respective teams would be former UK Champion Tyler Bate and current Champion Finn Balor. On commentary it is Nigel McGuinness who is quick to call a match between these two a dream contest amongst fans of the UK wrestling scene. To their credit in the early goings these two didn't let down such high praise from our commentary team as they engaged in very much a battle of technique from the off much to the fans delight. With the audience firmly behind him the champion seemed raring to go against his foe until an illegal assist from Trent Seven allowed Bate to knock the champion down with a hard left cross.
The audience in attendance rained down boos on Bate as he and Seven would tag one another in and out from this point on. Using their tag team experience to cut the ring off and wear down the champion. The duo would then find a surprising third musketeer for this strategy as Zack Gibson, a tag team specialist in his own right worked cohesively along with them to wear down the champion. Out on Balor's team apron his partners would will Balor to make a tag and slowly the audience in attendance would join in these rallying cries. With Balor slightly worn down Wade Barrett proved himself to be the opportunistic, predatory being we all know him to be as he'd tag in and hit a quick winds of change for a near fall before immediately tagging his way back out.
It would seem apart from Wade's in and out approach that a strategy had been employed to keep Aichner fresh and out of the ring for as much as possible. With the crowd fully behind him Finn Balor managed to mount a comeback and it would be a sling blade on Trent Seven which allowed Mark Andrews to enter the match. Springing in the ring to a huge pop from the audience in attendance, Andrews quickly wobbled Trent Seven with a flying knee strike. This backed Seven up onto the ropes and allowed Zack Gibson to tag himself into the match. With a ton of history between them these two would engage in what was an ugly hockey style fight with wild punches thrown.
Having shown a lot of newfound aggression over the past few months Zack Gibson in particular was like a rabid animal at points through this match. Practically frothing from the mouth as he'd let out some screams of rage, Gibson at one stage sent Andrews spinning in the air with a vicious clothesline. Slapping himself across the face to fire himself up further Zack Gibson would then look to finish the night for Mark Andrews as he dragged him to his feet. From here Gibson readied Mark Andrews for the Helter Skelter only for Mark Andrews to counter with stun dog millionaire. Gibson is wobbled as he falls to the mat and Andrews follows by climbing the turnbuckle before connecting with a shooting star press. The crowd in attendance cheers as Andrews make the cover. 1...2...3!
Zack Gibson has been eliminated! The crowd in attendance are on their feet as the announcement is made but as Mark Andrews rises to his feet he is blasted with a forearm to the back of the head by Wade Barrett. A short arm clothesline follows before Wade looks to set up Andrews for wasteland. Mark however is able to spin out on Wade's shoulders before taking him down to the mat with a hurricanrana. As Barrett stumbles to his feet Mark Andrews makes a tag out to Paul Burchill which generates the loudest pop of the night so far as Burchill enters the ring and comes face to face with Wade Barrett. Looking anxious as he stands off with Burchill, we soon see exactly why this is as Burchill fires off a series of punches towards Wade.
With a full head of steam Burchill backs Barrett onto the ropes before throwing Wade across the ring and catching him on the return with a powerslam. A big knee drop follows for a count of two before a fired up Paul barks at Wade that this is for his family. From there Barrett hits the ropes and connects with a running knee trembler to Wade. Quickly Trent Seven tries to give Wade an assist but Burchill punches him off of the apron. Tyler Bate meanwhile climbs into the ring only for Burchill to catch him charging in his direction with a C4. Rising to his feet Burchill locks eyes with Aichner who remains stationed on the apron. However this distraction allows Wade to spin Burchill around and drill him with the Bullhammer.
Burchill drops to a knee rattled from the strike and Barrett quickly follows up by hoisting Paul up onto his shoulders before driving him into the canvas with Wasteland. The audience erupts into boos as the referee begins the count. 1..2..3 Paul Burchill has been eliminated! Barrett has a smirk on his face as he rises to his feet. For the first time since the match has begun Pete Dunne enters the ring for Team Katarina and Barrett wastes no time in tagging out this time to Fabian Aichner who also steps in the ring for the first time. As these two former UK Champions face off again Nigel McGuinness credits this match for giving us encounters we have not yet seen before. These two heavy hitters do not take long in engaging with one another either before Dunne rattles Aichner with a forearm.
As Aichner starts to fire back we see a blind tag made by Trent Seven. This would prove fruitful for Team Barrett when Dunne managed to side step a clothesline from Aichner before wobbling him with an enzugiri. As Seven's inclusion in the bout allowed him to blindside Pete Dunne knocking him down to the canvas. Looking to put his former ally away quickly Seven then looked for a piledriver only for Dunne to snatch his legs out from under in a double leg. To the delight of the audience Pete Dunne battered Seven with punches until Trent rolled out of the ring. Refusing to let up on Seven, Dunne dove through the ropes with a suicide dive sending both men crashing into the guard rail. While the referee would begin to count it was only at 3 that either man began to show signs of life.
Once they was up at 5 Seven's attempt to polish hammer Dunne is blocked before Pete throws him into the guard rail. From here Dunne puts it all on the line as he launches himself at Seven in a body press style move which sends both men tumbling over the rail. With the referee still counting Pete Dunne is the first to his feet at 7 and he begins to try and climb over the rail. However Trent snatches Pete by the ankle to hold onto him. Dunne tries to kick Seven off of him and as he does so, the referee hits a count of 9. Climbing over the rail, Dunne is unable to get back to the ring as the referee officially counts out both men. Pete Dunne and Trent Seven have been eliminated!
The crowd is quick to voice it's disapproval at the decision when all of a sudden Dunne dives back over the rail onto Seven. Battering Trent with punches as they vanish in the crowd we see in the ring chaos has also resumed with the six remaining individuals all battling it out. This is until only Finn Balor and Fabian Aichner remain for their teams making them the legal men in what would unofficially become a rematch from Sydney. Having shared the ring several times now these two men would have one another well scouted in what was a back and forth contest. A sling blade from Balor soon followed before he'd attempt a 1916 on Aichner. However Aichner was able to shove him off before putting both men down on the canvas as he landed a discus lariat on Balor.
While this was going on we'd see the brawl continuing at ringside as Ilja Dragunov continued to punish Wade Barrett with punches while Andrews and Bate traded back and forth. This would be until Tyler Bate managed to shove Mark Andrews into the ring post. Both Balor and Aichner then made their way to their feet and Balor had the where with all to avoid one of Aichner's trademark dropkicks. After this he'd connect with a shotgun dropkick of his own sending Aichner into the corner. Before Balor could follow up however Tyler Bate hopped up onto the ring apron and hot shot Finn across the top rope. This allowed Fabian Aichner to crush Balor with a dropkick. With Balor stunned Aichner then followed up with Hasta La Vista in the center of the ring before making a cover. Ilja Dragunov would attempt to hit the ring only to be tripped by Barrett while the referee made the count. 1...2...3
Finn Balor has been eliminated! With a 3 on 2 advantage Wade Barrett and Tyler Bate soon joined Fabian Aichner in the ring as the trio celebrated eliminating the UK Champion. Meanwhile on the outside of the ring Ilja Dragunov and Mark Andrews looked to regroup. The fresher of the two Ilja Dragunov would enter the ring and found himself surprisingly facing off with Wade Barrett. Although this quickly proved to be a mental game as Barrett tagged out to Tyler Bate. The former UK champion and Ilja Dragunov then locked up before engaging in a test of strength with Bate quickly took advantage off. After landing a knee to the midsection, Tyler Bate followed up with a big hook to his opponent's jaw. Following a DDT on Ilja, Tyler then tagged out to Wade who covered Ilja for a near fall.
Looking to finish another one of his opponents quickly Barrett hoisted Dragunov onto his shoulders only for Ilja to land several elbows to the side of his head. Dropping down behind Wade, Ilja hit the ropes before he'd land a lariat on Wade. Yet before he could make the cover Ilja was kicked to the side of the head by Aichner who pulled Wade to their corner. From here Tyler Bate tagged his way back into the ring and he looked to end things with a Tyler Driver on Ilja but Dragunov countered and he'd slingshot Tyler into his corner where Mark Andrews connected with a leaping kick to Bate's face. With Bate reeling Ilja followed up with a T-Bone suplex on Tyler before tagging out to Andrews. Scaling the turnbuckle Andrews then connected with a shooting star press on Bate before making the cover. 1..2...3
Tyler Bate has been eliminated! With the match now down to 2 on 2 Fabian Aichner entered the ring for his team and it was clear that Aichner was angry. This was firmly on display by the way he went right after Andrews and began throwing him across the ring. His power on full show following a press slam. Aichner began barking and roaring at the audience in attendance that this could have been avoided if everyone just went along with the program. Snatching Mark Andrews to his feet, Aichner appeared to attempt a Hasta La Vista only for Andrews to drop down behind him and attempt a sunset flip. However Aichner snatched him by the throat and deadlifted Bate to his feet before tossing him across the ring with a crackerjack.
As Andrews stumbled to his feet Fabian Aichner came charging out from his corner for a spear only to have Andrews side step at the last second and Aichner to charge shoulder first into the ring post. Stumbling backwards with a pained expression on his face a reeling Aichner would then be spiked into the canvas with a poison rana by Andrews which put both men down on the canvas. Making a slow crawl Mark Andrews then tagged out to Ilja Dragunov while a groggy Aichner stumbled to his feet. Charging out from the corner Ilja Dragunov would land torpedo moscow on Fabian Aichner. Attempting to hit the ring, Wade Barrett would find himself met with a big running dropkick by Mark Andrews knocking him down to the canvas while Dragunov hit the ropes and caught a kneeling Aichner with a second torpedo Moscow putting him down on the canvas. The Audience was in shock as Dragunov then made a cover. 1...2....3! Fabian Aichner has been eliminated!
The crowd in attendance are stunned as the announcement is made and Fabian Aichner falls out to the floor. Equally stunned from this revelation is Wade Barrett who staggers to his feet as the last man on his team. Coming face to face with Ilja Dragunov, Wade would attempt to talk his way out of the situation and beg off. This would be until he'd turn to see Mark Andrews standing behind him. Realizing he is out numbered Wade quickly spun round and attempted a bullhammer on Dragunov who saw it coming and drove Wade into the canvas with a exploder suplex. Slowly getting to his feet a groggy Barrett refuses to go queitly as he attacks the eyes of Dragunov only for Ilja to pull him in for a second exploder suplex.
With Barrett badly shaken by this landing Ilja Dragunov took his place in the corner and stalked the management executive as he climbed to his feet. With Mark Andrews nodding his head Dragunov charged out of the corner looking for torpedo moscow. However Wade would surprise everyone by catching Ilja with the Winds of Change. Making a cover, Wade much to his dismay only earned a near fall before he motioned for the bull hammer. Dragging Ilja to his feet, Wade spun him round only for Ilja to duck under before hitting the ropes. Running off of the ropes Dragunov this time connected with Torpedo Moscow on Barrett. With Barrett down, Ilja then tagged out to Andrews who scaled the top rope before connecting with a shooting star press on Barrett. With the packed crowd on their feet, the referee would begin the count with the audience counting along. 1...2...3!
Andy Shepherd:
And the winners of the match.. Team Katarina!
(37:44)
The crowd in attendance explode as the announcement is made and Mark Andrews takes a knee in the ring. Quickly Andrews is joined in the ring by Ilja Dragunov and the duo snatch one another in a tight embrace. The duo soon are joined in the ring by Finn Balor and Paul Burchill who join the audience in applauding their efforts. The group is then joined by a smiling Katarina Leigh who raises both Andrews and Dragunov's arms in the air as the show comes to a close!
Continuing to feed into the rumors of a WWE UK overhaul a series of changes to the WWE UK roster and also it's performance center have been announced today following the first night of Showcase. At the front of these changes is that it can now be confirmed that her defeat at the hands of Isla Dawn on night one of the Showcase was a means to write Nikki Cross off of the brand. Cross of course arrived on the brand along with her Sanity stable before the stable would later be forced to disband following a high stakes defeat to British Strong Style. The belief is that WWE management are said to be big fans of Nikki Cross for her character and in ring work with immediate plans in mind to bring Nikki up to the main roster and start her as part of the Raw women's division. Of course Nikki isn't the only woman to be undertaking a change as it can be confirmed that this edition of the Showcase was also designed to finish up Kasey Owens with the brand.
The veteran who started with the brand during the inaugural women's title tournament is said to be moving from behind the camera to taking a head coaching role backstage with the WWE UK performance center. While never the top female on the brand or put in title contention, Owens is said to be one of the more respected talents that the brand had and was looked upon as a key utility player who helped season her lesser experienced foes. This is why management approached Owens who was already looking at perhaps taking a break from her wrestling career in order to see if she'd take a coaching role. Along with Kasey Owens it can be confirmed that Paul Burchill has signed a contract to take a backstage role with the brand. Believed to be taking an agent role, it's said that there wasn't much discussion in Paul making a full time return to the ring with his run very much being wrapped up following his match at the showcase.
Along with Nikki Cross, Kasey Owens and Paul Burchill all coming off of TV it can be confirmed today in some surprising news that Opus Dei will be departing WWE UK immediately. The pair are believed to have made a big impression on many of WWE's top brass with Triple H in particular said to be a fan of Mark Coffey and Noam Dar for their progression as a team. This is why the duo are expected to officially be moved across the pond to NXT in the hopes to further shore up their development as a tag team. Along with these departures a series of names have been confirmed to have departed the WWE UK performance center today. These names are believed to be a combination of creative changes and budgetary reasons. The first name confirmed is that of 7 foot Big T Justice, while early on it's said that Big T had a fair share of advocates with many wishing to see him placed in a team with Suge D. Sadly however it's said that interest in Big T dwindled and his progression stalled for a number of reasons leading to his departure.
Another big man who makes for a surprising departure is Caveman Ugg. It is believed that Caveman Ugg's standing with the brand was very much lowered by the additions of fellow big men such as Jurn Simmons. Plans to call up Ugg in the past as part of a primeval esque faction comprised of himself, Saxon Huxley and Wild Boar also fell threw. It is believed that Ugg himself had personally requested this release. Another name who requested his release is that of Jason Prime aka Primate. Having had several runs cancelled to bring him up onto the main show, Primate was said to want to be in control of his own destiny which is why he elected to request his release. Regarding the departures of Deno Babic, Jude London, Nico Angelo, Paris Da Silva and Royce Chambers. It is said that the reasons for their releases was simply due to budgetary reasons. Rounding out the departures would be three women from the UK PC namely Amy Allonsy, Darcy Stone and Marina Shafir all of whom were also released for budget cuts.
These are not the only departures from the UK PC however as we know Sunshine Machine, Carlos Zamora, Dan Moloney, Megan Bayne and Charli Evans will be leaving the UK performance center as per an agreement reached with NXT and it's international brands respectively. It can be confirmed that Sunshine Machine will be joining Opus Dei in NXT with both teams expected to greatly bolster it's division. Carlos Zamora, Dan Moloney and Charli Evans meanwhile have personally been requested to compete as part of NXT Japan with the belief that all three will perform well in the more strong style approach of that iteration. As for Megan Bayne, despite some rumors of her being called right up the main roster. Vignettes have already aired highlighting her arrival also on NXT.
On top of all these departures it can be confirmed that a few new faces will begin appearing on the WWE UK Show as part of it's overhaul. Likened by some as pseudo call ups the first of which is the duo of Asher Hale and JD Drake aka the Workhorsemen. This pair of NXT signees have been working at the UK performance center as a pair of guest coaches and are believed to very much be taking the role that Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan left open. That being an established veteran duo who can compete against many of the lesser experienced duos that the brand has in an effort to build up their skillset. Along with this duo we will also see Suge D begin to feature as a singles competitor on the brand. The veteran talent is very much seen as someone who can help develop younger lesser experienced talents while also providing an excellent source of comic relief to the promotion. Rounding out the group will be Booker T trained women's wrestler Hyan. The veteran is believed to have impressed with her time as part of the WWE UK performance center and will be an exciting addition to the UK main show

DOG COLLAR MATCH
THE THRONE ("UNIVERSITY CITY STRETCHER" DREW GULAK AND "PREMIERE ATHLETE" TONY NESE) VS. "THE IMPACT PLAYER" ADAM BROOKS AND "FLASH" MORGAN WEBSTER
Confirmed to be starting out night two of this high stakes UK Showcase event will be a personal feud as The Throne's Drew Gulak and Tony Nese will take on Adam Brooks and Morgan Webster. To say that the Throne has made a concise effort since their formation to make Morgan Webster's life a misery would be an understatement. As beyond helping Mike Kanellis seemingly reach the top out the mountain, torturing Morgan Webster seems to be one of the groups main objectives. This especially seems to be the case for Drew Gulak and Tony Nese who more so than any members of the Throne have been shown to delight in making Morgan suffer. However after being constantly overwhelmed by the numbers Morgan found himself an ally in Adam Brooks. Having also been wronged at the hands of the Throne during the King of the ring tournament, Brooks had reason as good as any to stand against the throne and has shown himself willing to use the groups own tactics against them. With the bad blood ramping up between the groups, in an effort to contain the match and limit any interference we know that these two teams will be bound to one another in the first ever Dog Collar Match in the UK Brand's history!
MATCH #2
SINGLES MATCH
"THE ANARCHIST" DOUG WILLIAMS VS. "THE PRIDE OF WALES" EDDIE DENNIS
Perhaps one of the most personal and heated feuds to feature at the UK Showcase. Fans of the WWE UK Brand will finally see Doug Williams and Eddie Dennis step into the ring and do battle. Both men of course while experienced veterans in their own right have for a time now served behind the commentary table along with their colleague John Gooden. While Doug Williams has often acted as the voice of reason for the brand and a true veteran figure who commands respect. It was during the Barrett takeover that Williams would begin to voice disapproval at Wade's tactics and in turn Barrett positioned former wrestler Eddie Dennis into a counter balance on the commentary team. Highly antagonistic and disrespectful Eddie Dennis quickly showed himself to be taking a full delight in mocking and disrespecting Doug Williams at all costs. After taking numerous barbs and insults finally it seemed that Williams was pushed too far and would attack Eddie Dennis. This of course would lead to Doug's suspension for being in violation of his contract yet with the arrival of William Regal it wouldn't take long for Doug to be reinstated and yet despite this Eddie Dennis didn't stop and even cheap shotted Williams himself. Having seen enough of these antics, William Regal eventually made this match official for Night 2 of War of the Roses!
MATCH #3
MANOR HOUSE MAYHEM
"THE VULTURE" SPIKE TRIVET VS. "THE TOP 1 PERCENT" EC3 Promising to be one of the more interesting contests offered over the course of the two events will be a match entitled Manor House Mayhem. This match which is believed to be taking place on the grounds of Spike Trivet's family estate has been described as a true fight to the finish between Spike Trivet and EC3. These two individuals who are definitely the two most affluent, high society members of the roster have come into frequent conflict as of late. This is down to EC3 refusing an offer from Spike Trivet for the pair of upper classmen to unite. Instead EC3 drew the ire of Trivet by saying any wealth and sophistication on Trivet's part is quickly ruined by his attitude and verbiage. From here the rivalry would only grow more heated as EC3 handed Spike Trivet his first defeat with the brand only for some well timed mind games by Trivet and associate Ridge Holland to leave EC3 laid out in the ring bloodied and beaten. An enraged EC3 in response to this set up wasted little time in accepting Spike's challenge. Just what can we expect from Manor House Mayhem?
MATCH #4
COMMONWEALTH CHAMPIONSHIP
"THE WRESTLING SAVANT" KASSIUS OHNO (c) VS. "THE CHESHIRE" JOSEPH CONNERS
Set for singles action on this show will be the continued trend of Kassius Ohno defending his Commonwealth Championship against any and all comers. Looking to establish his title as the true definition of a 'wrestlers' championship akin to many old school wrestling titles. Ohno has so far battled legends, high flyers, technicians and brawlers but perhaps none have done a better job in getting in the head of the champion than his latest challenger Joseph Conners. Better known to some as the Cheshire, Joseph Conners is perhaps the most vicious and violent competitor out of the cultish wonderland faction. Shown to be as enigmatic a person as they come Joseph Conners seemingly without rhyme or reason would begin targeting Kassius Ohno and disrupting numerous defenses of his title all the while never accepting the challenge himself until now. Believed to be firmly following the orders of his queen, Will Joseph Conners leave War of the Roses as the new Commonwealth Champion?

Closing the show and this two night event will be our second high stakes elimination tag team match. With her men's team being victorious on night one, Katarina Leigh and her team mustn't be blinded by the confidence of this win as they still need to win this match in order for Wade Barrett to be fired. Yet at the very same time the pressure is on for the women of team Barrett who will be looking to appease Wade and even the score. This match is filled with ten of the best women the UK scene has to offer beginning of course with General Manager and former WWE women's wrestler Katarina Leigh. Joining her on her team is former UK Women's Champion Tegan Nox and rising star Xia Brookside. Along with this duo is Katarina's most trusted ally and closest friend Raquel Lourenco while rounding out her team is the wildcard Kay Lee Ray. Meanwhile on Team Barrett we will see former NXT standout Emma joined by submission specialist Deonna Purrazzo and British Strong Style's Millie Mckenzie while rounding out the team will be Toni Storm who shockingly turned her back on her own friends to be apart of team Barrett. At the helm of this team will be the women's champion Jinny. Which team will be left standing at the end of this high stakes collision?
