WWE "tweaking" Lord Tensai's character

Tensai failed to impress WWE officials in his pinfall victory over John Cena on the April 16 Raw SuperShow in London, England and was deemed "a flop" as a result. He was initially pegged to face Cena at the company's Over the Limit and No Way Out pay-per-view events but his poor showing in the main event match led to his push being curtailed and Big Show taking his place. WWE also canceled plans for summer live events to be headlined by Tensai and John Laurinaitis vs. Cena, instead replacing the former tattoo artist with Big Show.

Though Tensai has yet to be defeated on television, he suffered his first pinfall loss before a WWE crowd in a dark match following Monday's Raw SuperShow—to Cena. He is being largely relegated to WWE Superstars while his character is retooled. He has already undergone tweaks as he appeared sans robe, competed more aggressively and had his named modified within the past two weeks. More changes could be in the works as there was talk this past week of additional modifications.

Ok so if Tensai hadn't sucked so bad, Big Show would have never gotten this push? Nice...

I feel bad for the guy. He was frowned upon in his first WWE run. He goes to Japan becomes one of the top guys then returns to WWE and is frowned upon again. Let's hope this "modification" helps or he could be future endeavored soon

I honestly don't get what WWE thought they were getting. If they liked what they saw when they signed him...

his styles doesn't change.

I agree with what Brandon said. They saw him in Japan, surely. They knew how he was going to work and what kind of wrestler he'd be. Most likely, they assumed he'd mold himself to go along with WWE standards, but I'm sure he figured doing what he was doing was best. Oh well, I too believe they just dove into it without considering the fan's response, etc.

Back to the drawing board I guess. I hope he keeps his job.

I think giving him the Japanese gimmick killed him. If he was an ass-kicking badass like he was in Japan it would be a lot better.

They should've held off on having him beat John Cena in the main event of Raw if they were still evaluating him or whatever, he beat the face of the company and has only been seen on Superstars since, that just looks stupid.

What hurt Tensai most was debuting the same night as Brock. It's hard to convince people this attitude era guy with a sudden hard-on for Japanese culture is to be feared when Brock "legit kill you with his bare hands" Lesnar is standing just over there.

In one night, goodbye the original plan for Tensai to face Cena at ER, and goodbye any legitimacy this gimmick had.

Wow, I can't believe I just saw this thread now. So a few things....

1. It absolutely blows my mind that it took this long for someone to change the title to something that doesn't look like it was written by a 7 year old.

2. ViperRKO, can you possibly try not to swear in every other post? It really makes you look like a tool.

3. WWE knew exactly what they were getting and failed to exploit it properly. I cannot blame Tensai for that.

4. I agree with Cas and Brandon that he shouldn't have been going over Cena.
