World Prediction Championship 2021 Event #28 Results

WPC 28: Full Gear marks as the last event in the WPC Playoffs Round of Ten, meaning that at the end of the night two more predictors will be dropped from contention to complete the Round of Six. All of the titles will be contested for during this event, including finding out the winner of the Clout Cup Marathon - which will be our starting point.

Singles Division

Over the last three events, The Fourth Wall, Smark and Blaze have been competing in a marathon with the overall winner set to become the new Clout Cup Holder.

Our next focus is the the !nteractive Championship Division, which continues to run as an experimental division with WPC that uses a 'Head 2 Head Matchplay' mechanic. Points are earned in the following ways:

A Loss = -2 points
A Draw = 0 points
A Championship Loss = -5 points
A Championship Draw = Granted The Next Title Shot + 0 points
The Champion earns no points

Only one match takes place in the division, with new #1 contender Sky challenging Chris for the !interactive Championship.

Juice officially returns to the division replacing HoHo. Juice' points tally is reset to 0, but their previous score margin differential remains intact. Some more unique stipulations are set to take place in the !nteractive Division during the next scheduled event - so stayed tuned for the fixtures.


Our next focus is the Grand Prix Event Championship, which Chris entered the evening as the holder of the belt. Everyone apart from HoHo & Lethal Banks is eligible in contest for this title belt.

With two predictors tied in first position, we refer to the rules in place for the GPE Championship:

- everyone not competing for another championship belt, is eligible to win the belt
- if predictors are tied in 1st place, the predictor with the lowest overall differential wins the belt
- if predictor can not be separated by their differential, then the belt is vacated
- the challenger has the advantage, if two predictors are tied 1st and one of them is the title holder, the champion loses the tie

With Chris having been the champion going into the event,this means that TFW benefits from challenger's advantage to win the Grand Prix Event Championship. To make this title win even more interesting, this makes Fourth a three time GPE winner this season and therefore he earns himself a future Grand Championship shot via 'Option E' to become literally 'The Fourth' beneficiary of this title route. - Chris for the second event in a row was the standout winner in the Playoffs, but already advanced having been the standout winner during the previous event.

- Necro, Haza, Juice & Jeff are all eliminated from playoff contention - although Jeff and Juice narrowly missed the cut. These eliminations see the 1st, 3rd, 4th & 7th ranked entrants being eliminated from playoff contention.

- Predictor retain their points tally for the Round Of Six, with the next three events serving as time to qualify for the Round Of Four, where all points will be reset to crown the Universal Champion 2021.

UPDATE

Due to inactivity, Haza and Necro have been placed in 'Ghost Mode' and will return to the overall standing once they make predictions. They will be required to predict in two events in a row, in order to become eligible in the GC Division once again.

HoHo is currently the Grand Champion and there next challenger will be The Fourth Wall, who benefits from winning the Grand Prix Event Championship for the third time and thus benefits from 'Option-E'.

Chris no longer is restricted by other members of the GC Division, and unless a mathematical impossibility takes places he will be the next GC Division member in contention for the title.

Lethal Banks became the first predictor to experience a championship draw in the GC Division era. They will not be required to wait for [Chris, Jeff & Sky - if all three were to stay in the Division] to challenge for the title before them.

There are only four events left in the year, unless tie-breakers are needed in the WPC Playoffs 2021.
