When The Rock challenged Triple H for the title in the premiere episode of Smackdown. Shawn Michaels was the special guest referee in that match and, just when The Rock was about to go for the People's Elbow, HBK Superkicked him to the chin. It gave Triple H a chance to nail Rock with his Pedigree to retain his title.

He didn't really. He became their top face in 2000 when Austin was out almost the entire year, but Austin was always the top earner and bigger draw.
