Simple discussion and input...what guys in the history of the business should have been World Champions? Now, when I say World Champion, I'm talking WWE/WCW/NWA wise, considering those were the major companies.

Rick Rude and Curt Hennig pop to mind when that question is asked... I would've said Raven, but he was World Champion I believe in both ECW and TNA...

I won't comment on pre-2000 because I don't know nearly enough to comment.

Post-2000, most of the people in WWE who should have had a run, have. The only possible omission is Wade Barrett who you could argue a good case for winning the WWE title when the Nexus was at it's peak. The fact he's sunk back down the card gradually after seems to indicate that may have been his best opportunity too.

And with TNA, hands down one of TNA's biggest mistakes was not having Monty Brown win the World title from Jeff Jarrett at Final Resolution. Another guy who's career never quite returned to it's previous glory following that loss.

In my opinion, I always thought William Regal should have won a World Title. He was always fantastic in the ring and on the mic, had a pretty good gimmick to. I think he's one of the most underrated superstars of all time.

Mother freaking THIS!

And a Goldust push would have been awesome too...hell one now wouldn't be horrible IMO.

TWO WORDS...HOT ROD. The one guy who made Hulk Hogan the name he was. Had he not been involved with Hogan in the first WM along with the War To Settle The Score...who knows if Hulkamania would've truly blown up. Piper made the people hate him and he was the best heel in the entire business at that time, I believe even more so than Flair.

And yes I know he held titles in Mid Atlantic and all, but honestly he should've been WWF Champion, at least for a while until Hogan would take it from him.

Razor Ramon & Jake The Snake Roberts are the two biggest omissions that come to my mind.

I can't remember if JYD ever was a WHC in other territories but he wasn't in WWE and I would put him in this list

-I think D'Lo would have been an awesome world champion eventually, following the the roster split (maybe on the Smackdown brand). Of course, he was quietly buried after the Droz tragedy (and maybe his heart wasn't into in anymore since he probably felt great guilt). Which is a crying shame.

-I think Owen would have made a terrific world champion in 1995-96. But he didn't want the belt.

-Even though he would go on to win the title in 2006, I think Booker T should have won it against HHH at WM19. He had it all: Solid worker, good with the mic, and was one of he more over guys on the RAW brand at the time. Even HHH was pushing for Booker to win that night, but someone in the company overruled him (Vince?). A great shame: Booker would go on to get humiliated for weeks prior to the event, with that awful angle of being treated like a slave by HHH & Flair, and for what? He got buried in what's quite possibly the worst ending to a WM championship match ever, and he was never heard of in the main event scene for years. (Though he would go on to have a good feud with Christian for the IC Title, and a successful tag team title run with RVD).

-RVD in 2003-04. The guy was massively over during that time, But from what I understand, he was incredibly stiff in the ring, which may have played against him. They would eventually give him the belt (+ the ECW title), but we all know how it all that ended up.

-I think Morrison would have been a terrific champion too. His former tag team partner ended up getting the world title push, but I think JoMo should have gotten it first. He was better in the ring that miz, for sure. His downfall would be his lack of mic skills. Maybe a gimmick change would have helped hm out in this matter. I think a CM Punk / Morrison feud for the title would have been awesome.

Agree. And let's not forget King Mabel / Viscera / Big Vis, lol.

And Bossman would have made a terrific champion too. ;)

My obvious answer would be Ted Sr winning the title at Wrestlemania IV rather than Macho Man. I mean it set the seeds for an awesome heel run by Macho Man, but I feel if Hogan chased Ted for the title up until Mania V it would have been a bigger match than Hogan/Savage.

Also if Sid could have stayed out of trouble he could have been given the belt in after Wrestlemania VIII. Just imagine if he beats Hogan at Mania and then defeats Warrior over the Summer! It could have been him and Hart at Survivor Series 92 rather than a thrown together HBK vs Hart match we had already seen by that point. WWE could have also waited until SS to put the IC title on HBK rather than a non built up televised win over the guy who just beat Hart Clean in the match of the year.

Also, I would have put the belt on Owen after Montreal. The WWE could have had Owen drop it back to HBK at the Rumble and still done SCSA/HBK at Mania.

From what I remember, there were plans for Owen to become a huge pis for Owen as the no 1 Canadian superstar, as the Black Hart. I believe he was to have a feud with HBK for the championship. For reasons I don't recall, these plans were scraped. (Could it be Shawn's old antics? Could it be McMahon not living up to his word? Could it be Steve Austin's rise to popularity being so sudden and meteoric that they forgot to push Owen?).

HBK had a lot to do with holding people back. Like Vader for example. I think Vader should have went over HBK for the WWF title and dominated like he did in WCW. He could have finally been that monster heel champion that drew for WWF. Its a shame WWF didn't do anything with him of merit.
