United States Champion Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton
United States Champion Jinder Mahal will once again battle Randy Orton at WWE Backlash with a prestigious title on the line.
Mahal has enjoyed an incredible year, highlighted by winning the WWE Championship from Orton at last year’s WWE Backlash and holding that title for 170 days. Now, after capturing the U.S. Title at WrestleMania in a wild Fatal 4-Way Match against Orton, Bobby Roode and Rusev, he will look to best The Viper at the May pay-per-view for the second year in a row.
For his part, Orton seems to have a great year every year. By defeating Roode to capture the star-spangled title at WWE Fastlane, Orton became a Grand Slam Champion, a milestone that includes 13 reigns as World Champion. After losing the red, white and blue championship on The Grandest Stage of Them All, he wasted no time getting back in the game by overcoming Roode and Rusev in a fast-paced Triple Threat Match on SmackDown LIVE for the right to challenge his longstanding adversary.
What will happen when WWE's Apex Predator squares off with The Modern Day Maharaja? Find out at WWE Backlash, Sunday, May 6, at 8/7 C on the award-winning WWE Network!
