traditional jiu-jitsu vs brazilian jiu-jitsu

hey all,

I sometimes watch a UFC fight or two and a lot of the fighters practice
Brazilian jiu-jitsu. some pro wrestlers as well (e.g. Samoa Joe) yet, I don't
hear anything about traditional (Japanese) jiu-jitsu. so, a question to MMA
fans/practitioners and practitioners of the style in general. what is the difference
between traditional jiu-jitsu and Brazilian jiu jitsu? just curious. thanks.
