This is cool and all, and I will continually praise the efforts of Don Callis and Scott D'Amore to rescue this dying ship and turn it into one of the more consistently entertaining products out there, but I do have to say that Impact doesn't need all these guys, at least not on a consistent basis. I love the idea of bringing them in for Slammiversary, since it is an anniversary show, and the way they shot this promo was genius to get people buzzing. Having said that, out of the wrestlers highlighted, the only ones I think Impact should want on a full time basis is EC3, Spud, EY and Rusev. The thing about that is, other than EY, I imagine those other 3 will all be in high demand elsewhere as well, so Impact is gonna have to work some serious magic to lock those guys down. If they can do that, brilliant. I just hope they aren't left picking the scraps in the end because getting the guys I mentioned would be a serious haul, but if you only come away with Brian Myers and Mike and Maria for example, that's gonna reinforce the idea that you're a grade below WWE, AEW, or whoever else gets the "real stars".
Having said all that, I don't like seeing all "time to watch Impact again" posts. Impact has been great in the Callis and D'Amore era. They still have their problems, like using guys who are passed their sell by date and The Undead Realm is a major turnoff for a lot of people, but their roster is uber talented. Michael Elgin, Sami Callihan, Tessa Blanchard, Daga, Rich Swann, Willie Mack, The North, The Rascalz, Ace Austin, Eddie Edwards, Taya Valkyrie, Jordynne Grace, Kylie Rae, The Crists, Chris Bey. Moose (at times). They have been well worth watching for quite some time. But if it takes some of these names from the past showing up to renew interest, I guess I can't complain about that either.
