WWE has locked down the trademark rights to several ring names.

The trademarked names included Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler, Zack Ryder, and Ezekiel Jackson. The company filed for the terms on February 23 under the entertainment services classification with The United States Patent and Trademark Office. Here is the description:

“Trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”

WWE filing for the Ezekiel Jackson name is interesting. Jackson worked for WWE from 2007-2014 as he made his main roster debut in 2008. While with WWE, he held the ECW and Intercontinental Titles. He retired from wrestling in 2015.

The Zack Ryder trademark comes after Matt Cardona filed for the trademark rights of his old WWE ring name. He later tweeted that he tried to get it but was denied. While appearing on Jason Powell’s Pro Wrestling Boom Podcast, Cardona revealed WWE fought him on the trademark, so he backed off.

There have been some rumors that WWE may bring him back to the company following the return of his wife, Chelsea Green.
Ezekiel Jackson, how on earth are they remembering to trademark that and why :hmm:

Ezekiel Jackson?

Vince must’ve ran into Apollo Crews somewhere and thought Jackson made a comeback

WWE recently filed to trademark the term “Superstars of Tomorrow” with the United States Patent and Trademark offices for the categories of “entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling.”

The timing of this trademark news is interesting as it comes shortly after WWE revealed that John Cena would be bringing a docuseries to Roku that follows young recruits. The working title for that show is currently “WWE Recruits,” so there’s a chance this is the permanent title but that is not confirmed.

I'm hoping it's more like WWE Breaking Ground, the show they did on the Network that was behind the scenes at NXT.

WWE has filed for a new trademark.

On March 30, 2023, WWE submitted an application with the USPTO to trademark #FREETONYD for the purposes of entertainment services and merchandise.

D'Angelo was was taken in for questioning on May 16, as his name came up in criminal investigations. The following two episodes of NXT saw The Don questioned by an officer and have his mugshot taken.

WWE recently filed for an NXT related trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

On June 9th, WWE applied to trademark the term “NXT GOLD RUSH” for entertainment purposes, specifically wrestling events and exhibitions. Back in 2012, Dusty Rhodes had announced the Gold Rush tournament to determine the first-ever NXT Champion, a tournament that was won by Seth Rollins.

Full details can be found in the summary below.

Mark For: NXT GOLD RUSH trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of a show about professional wrestling; the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports information.
