Also, I don't like talking politics too much but I want to add that this sets a very bad precedent. With all the hatred towards politicians in the world, now that a former head of state like Abe has been assassinated in this gruesome way. All the lunatics in the world who want to hurt political leaders are thinking "oh wait I can do it too" and the copycats can happen elsewhere in the world. I sure hope not but it's a possibility.

That sort of situation happened in Japan during the 1960s itself, with the assassination of Inejirō Asanuma; he was the leader of the Japanese Socialist Party and was murdered on stage by an ultranationalist, which set up a series of attempted assassinations that all ultimately failed.
Ultimately, Shinzo died because Japan frankly doesn't have gun violence. Last year, there were six, count 'em, six deaths related to guns in Japan. It is not something that happens there, and security didn't account for it (as they fucking shouldn't have had to).
