Oh man, look at that, even China refuses to help their allies.

Good. I am surprised to hear about it though.

China has an extremely powerful and stable economy and a GDP of 15 trillion. We are sanctioning the HELL out of Russia but we aren't doing that to China because they could sanction us nearly as bad as we could to them.

Also a lot of people have been thinking that they would help Russia because this could be a blueprint for an invasion of Taiwan.

So, this is an interesting development.

Excuse my ignorance but at what point is the inevitablility of war finally accepted by the people in charge?

War with Russia is unevadable in my mind. Why is everyone waiting for Russia to attack a Nato country?

I'm a firm believer in "get them before they get you".....

Or am I wrong?

It partly due to duty and combat procedure.

Anyone who is part of the military of a nation in NATO - wouldn't be shocked or surprise, if they were sent to a conflict to defend another nation. Eg. the Yugoslavian conflict in the 90s.

However - with no treaty in function or guarantee that another nation will also get involved, taking the first step is a very risky move. There is this expectation - that someone needs to 'step in' but a fight with Russia as a single Western power, is literally a game of Russian roulette - but with nukes instead of bullets. If Russia invade a NATO nation - then they know they've opened the door to everyone else in NATO.

This thread here is actually a fairly well reasoned explanation as to why it is better for NATO not to involve themselves physically in any capacity right now. I find myself mostly agreeing with it.

It's definitely not as simple as going in guns ablazing or refusing to do anything bc of nukes like I see a lot people simplifying the situation to
