It greatly helped speed up minor league games. MLB will see a similar increase by the time the players get used to it. MLB games will still be longer because of more TV breaks but games may get under 3 hours a lot more often.Yeah I'm for it overall, I highly doubt games will be sped up like they expect from it tho. I think it'll be a fairly minor change
minimal. Remember the batter needs to be ready to go with at least 8 seconds on the clock so the pitcher can still hold the ball and play with the timing. Also watching the clock instead of the pitcher is a prime way to get picked off.I wonder how much of an advantage it will give base runners. You study a pitcher enough, you’ll know about how much time on avg he takes and everything, so you could end up getting some good jumps. It’s going to be interesting.
Yeah true, I was just thinking once it’s a good bit into the season, some might can get a little bit better at it. Mainly the ones who’s already good at stealing base. But yeah probably won’t change much.minimal. Remember the batter needs to be ready to go with at least 8 seconds on the clock so the pitcher can still hold the ball and play with the timing. The real help with stolen bases will be the fact you can only step off/throw over twice before a balk is called.Yeah true, I was just thinking once it’s a good bit into the season, some might can get a little bit better at it. When I pitched. I knew about pacing a game. I knew if things were tight, then you can breathe and take longer. But, taking too long just takes the piss. And I liked how once the pitcher begins to start their motion it stops. As long as you don't have an unreasonably long wind-up, you shouldn't rush you.Doom said:I'm liking the pitching clock. It gets rid of the pitchers who take a lot of time, taking 1-2 minutes to decide what pitch to throw. Great decision by the MLB.
