“BACK FROM THE GRAVE”
Episode One [Titan Gym, Fullerton, California]




Lucha Underground x Wrestling Smarks first run had ended in early 2022, although the reasons for the shutting of the doors had never been revealed. With a brand new roster and management team in place, the promotion had come back from the grave with a hunger and real desire to become the best promotion of its kind in the Sim League Universe. The Titan Gym was at half capacity, although the fans inside were making so much noise all the way from the cheap seats all the way to the front row that you would think the show was coming live from Madison Square Gardens.

The camera would cut to the commentary table, with Hip Daddy Gip and Beef Chops sitting table wearing a set of headsets each and both looking equally as excited for tonight’s card that had generated quite a buzz with all four matches that had so far been announced.

+ Hip Daddy Gip +
“Welcome, welcome, welcome. It’s your girlfriend’s baby daddy and the stud with the sweatiest drip this side of the Paris Fashion Show. Lucha Underground is back and I am so happy to announce that those two nerds Chai Guy and Alex Basura have been kicked to the curb, but does anyone even remember what those two even looked like. Hell, who am I kidding? When I’m not getting paid, I’m getting laid.”

“You’re not even going to bother introducing me. Do you have any idea who I am?”

+ Hip Daddy Gip +
“I haven’t got the slightest clue who you are, you old geezer. I was under the impression you were a seat warmer for recognized talent.”

+ Beef Chops +
“This generation has no damn respect. Well for all the lovely folks at home, my name is Beef Chops and I am from Wales, the singular greatest country in the world. For those that don’t know my history. I am the longest reigning Welsh National Championship, having held the belt for a record breaking 2168 days before making a name for myself in America and Canada. Although I am semi-retired I am now afraid of getting back into the ring if it is required of me.”

+ Hip Daddy Gip +
“I think me and every single fan in the arena tonight pray with all the passion in the world that we never have to witness that. And before you send us all to sleep, I am being informed that the second best looking person on this roster is backstage and has some words he wants to get off his chest ahead of his match later on tonight.”

As the camera starts to pan away, it is evidently clear that Gip and Beef are most certainly an unlikely pairing and are in no shape or form friends.

“Do you know what they call me, Branson? Well it really is quite simple, because that is the name my mother gave me and that is the name I have kept because unlike a majority of the people that work in this industry I have a backbone and I have respect. I have humility and I have loyalty to that which I came from, and there is nothing more important in a man’s life than the place where he comes from and that is true about Georgia. The greatest state in the United States of America and the peach capital of the world. I am the most handsome man alive and I approve that statement. Remember, if you ain’t handsome are you even friends with Branson?”

Branson poses in front of the camera, before walking out of show with the camera catching two groupies that are clearly doting over their favourite wrestler.

Summary
- The first match of Lucha Underground’s new era would begin with a chaotic Lucha Scramble, with all six participants holding nothing back from each other. The first standout moment took place when Nat Redame would springboard off the ropes to wipe out Ice Looch, Troy Castor and Reina del Impact with a Diving Crossbody.
- The only representative of the International Space Station Geoffnelius was clearly benefiting from having spent time in space as was not scared of getting aerial on multiple occasions. ‘Astro Chimp’ , a nickname given to him by Hip Daddy Gip during the match, would look to finish off the contest by landing on top of Anarchis with Zero Gravity (Shooting Star Press) only for Iced Looch to break up the pin count at the last moment.

- Troy Castor would also come close to picking up the win after tossing both Reina del Impacto and Geoffnelius over the ropes, perfectly nailing Nat Redame with the Identity Changer [Buzzsaw Kick] that would cause the former Joshi start to crumple to their knees, but show a survivors instinct by rolling towards the ropes to prevent falling to a three count.

- The Lucha Scramble would end in a wild flurry with everyone involved in the finish. Troy Castor and Nat Redame would be exchanging hard hitting shots on the entrance ramp, with a level of hatred seeming to be present between the two individuals. Ice Looch would use their full strength to knock Reina del Impact through the ropes with a shoulder charge that Beef Chops would coin ‘The Snow Plough’. Anarchis would attempt to blindside the German born, Minnesota living Iceman, but instead would be caught in the chin with a swinging elbow that looked if it had draw blood and leave the Texan wobbling on their feet. Geoffnelius would stay close to the ground and do a forward roll before using the momentum to nail Looch with a Double Knee Facebreaker, in a move called ‘Super Monkey Ball’ to wipe out his opponent and claim the victory.

The camera cuts backstage where 40 Double Dee and James Hater are standing, with the two set to team up in a few moments time in tag team competition. Both men were from the north-east, but nothing else was really known about this unique partnership.

“Can you believe we’ve got to put up with this shit James?”

+ James Hater +
“I can’t help, but be offended Dee. In our very first match in Lucha Underground we’ve booked to face two literal carnival freaks, two cosplaying geeks, two members that are without a doubt weak. And you know what we say to management?”

+ 40 Double Dee +
“We say thank you. Thank you for making this the easiest start to our time here in Lucha Underground. My name is 40 Double Dee…”

+ James Hater +
“…and I am James Hater.”

+ 40 Double Dee +
“And together we are…”

+ James Hater +
“...the Chosen Few.”

The pair pound fists and then make their way out towards the ring, set to faced the combination of Sharknado & Mustango.

Tag Team Match

Summary
- Sharknado & Mustango were a very odd pairing and it was clear that following their entrances alone that the pair had not had any sort of communication and there really didn’t seem to be a plan in place. On the flip side the Chosen Few (Dee & Hater) were a united front and looked focused and prepared to be the very best versions of themselves.

- Chosen Few would control the early stages of the match and would strategize to keep Mustango as far from Sharknado as possible by making quick tags and wearing Mustango down and using him like a dirty doormat continuously stamping down on him. Dee and Hater would also nearly claim a finish by hitting ‘The Cross We Bear’ (Flapjack DDT) with Sharknado diving in at the very last minute to save his unlikely partner.

- Sharknado would finally become the legal man, and Hip Daddy Gip would dismiss the pairing and refer to them mockingly as ‘SharkTango’. The resident of the Atlantic Ocean was not scared to get involved though and everytime he could get away with it would chomp down on the ears of both Dee and Hater with a blood thirsty desire to draw blood, and it was clear that both of his opponents were freaked out by this tactic.

- Sharknado and James Hater would be the legal men in the ring and the man from shark infested water would take a couple of steps backwards to get a run up, only to be unaware that Mustango had blindly tagged in. Sharknado would then use momentum from the ropes before nailing Hater with a Lariat only to follow through and knock 40 Double Dee off the ring apron and down onto the floor below. Turning around, Sharknado would look visibly annoyed as the referee would inform him that he was no longer the legal man and he would look understandably annoyed, but wouldn’t have any real time to express frustration as Mustango would enter the ring and perform the theatrics building up to Bargain Bucket (Running delayed high-impact elbow drop) to finish the match and pick up the victory.

Winners: Mustango & Sharknado

We cut backstage where Troy Castor, who was one of the individuals involved in the night’s opening contest is venting some frustration following the Lucha Scramble.

“Do you know what I hate more than losing matches? Interfering women and that hussy Nat Redame has made an enemy out of me, because instead of working in catering and making me a sandwich she prevented me from claiming what was rightfully mine. That victory was destined to be mine, the fortune teller promised me that I was going to win that contest and after you pay a witch $2000 you know that is the truth! And before anyone calls me out and calls me a sexist, you can kiss my shiny little bootyhole because I don’t just hate women - I hate everyone equally. And I promise you this Redame once you get on the bad side of one Castor, you get on the bad side of the entire Castor Bloodline!"

Castor looks annoyed and just shoves past the camera crew and disappears abruptly out of shot.

Tag Team Match

Summary
- Both teams in the second match were very much random pairings that had been put together for the night and rather than being two teams going against each other, the match was very much four individuals doing their best to impress with the hindrance of having another person on their team.

- The first person to really impress would be Saint Diego, with the 6”4 California prodigy really impressed and effectively ragdolling Moosick and Borg around the ring with it clear that Diego was intent on ending the contest as quickly as possible and would almost claim the victory by send Borg face first down onto the bottom from with a Reverse Russian legsweep that would leave rope burns on Borg’s face.

- El Brody would seem to take Diego’s lead and would ramp up the pressure on Moosick and Borg. El Brody would be barrelling around the ring like the Tasmanian devil with fast paced kicks and aerial moves before looking to end it all with the Brody Splash (450 Splash), but Jake Moosick would show some veteran experience and raise up a shoulder just after the two-count.

- The match ending would seem to come out of nowhere though, with Hyzeen Borg connecting with El Brody in mid-air with a Beef Borger Strike (Spinning Knife Edge Chop) before rolling him over with a schoolboy pin to claim the victory, despite him and his partner Moosick having been on the back foot for most of the contest.

We cut backstage to the authority figure of Lucha Underground. The Director of Chaos: Mister Sypda. Sypda is sitting in a very expensive looking red leather chair and is puffing on a large cuban cigar as he smiles as the camera focuses on him.

+ Mister Spyda +
“We may not be present at the temple, but whilst the temple is undergoing some vital construction work we find ourselves on the road giving members of the West Coast of this second rate country a chance to bear witness to the greatest wrestling company for a generation. I am Mister Spyda and I am the voice of reason, the voice of chaos and the final authority in Lucha Underground.”

Mista Spyda places the cigar down onto a ramekin and places his feed on his rich oak desk as he continues to talk.

+ Mister Spyda +
“In tonight’s main-event we see Branson Peach take on Rancid Jay in the first closing match of this new era, but this match isn’t just for personal glory. No, no, no instead the winner of this match is going to become the first competitor to gain entry into the first ever ‘Border Crossing Death Match’ with the winner of that match becoming the Lucha Underground Champion.”

The scene then flips to the ring, with both Rancid Jay and Branson Jay having already made their way out from the back.

Main Event

vs

Summary
- With the added incentive of the victor of the contest earning themselves a future shot, both men came into the contest with an elevated level of aggression and the desire to win was telling. At the commentary Beef Chops would assess that although Peach was arguably the bookies favourite, Rancid Jay was very much a wild card and a virtual unknown that made him extremely dangerous and was a threat that Peach would be wise to take seriously.

- Branson Peach would look to end the match early and would connect with Mongolian Chops that were expertly placed and with real intention before taking hold of Rancid and dropping them to the mat with a swinging neckbreaker.

- Branson would carry on piling on the pressure and some chants of ‘Handsome Branson’ would begin to circulate from those members of the audience that were clearly attracted. Mr. Peach would reward his doting fans by folding Rancid in half after dropping him down hard onto the mat with a German suplex, but Rancid would show his flexibility by reaching out and grabbing hold of the bottom rope to prevent a count from being made.

- Rancid Jay though would be resilient and despite the beating he was taken would remain strong and would respond by taking Peach’s leg out from under him before locking him in a Cloverleaf and would really put on the pressure, but as soon as Branson got close to the rope rather than holding on - instead Rancid would stand up and stamp down on the back of Peach’s neck in a real sign of disrespect.

- Jay would really get into the swing of things and would force Branson up against the turnbuckle and lash him with a number of hard kicks before dragging him out to the middle of the rope and nailing him with an Exploder Suplex, but wouldn’t get the job done as his foe would kick out.

- Branson though, would hit when it really mattered and with both men look tired on their feet the Georgian would collide with a Discus elbow before sending Jay head over heel with a deadly Peach Cobbler [Clothesline From Hell] to keep his opponent down for the three count and become the first entrant into the future match for the Lucha Underground Championship.

Winner: Branson Peach ​
