The parents of a 13-year-old boy accused of killing his baby sister because her cries were distracting him from a video game were excited about having their first girl, an employee at the apartment complex said Tuesday.

Linda Beletzuy was born Oct. 24 and was nearly 10 months old when she died Friday from a head injury.

Her brother, Crystian Rivera, was arrested on a murder complaint in the death and is in the Oklahoma County jail without bail.

The baby's parents, Carlos and Linda Beletzuy, moved out of the apartment complex Tuesday morning, the manager said. He said they were a quiet family, and he was shocked to hear about the baby's death.

Carlos Beletzuy declined to comment when reached Tuesday by telephone.

The apartment complex employee said she remembered the mother taking the baby to the office along with her younger son.

They seemed so happy about the baby girl, she said.

The apartment complex employees asked that their names not be used.
Crystian Rivera was a seventh-grader last year at Mayfield Middle School, said Steve Lindley, Putnam City Schools spokesman.

Crystian Rivera told police his sister started to cry while he was playing video games at their apartment at 1609 N MacArthur Blvd.

He said his character in the game was killed, and he became angry and picked her up and shook her.

He said he went back to playing video games, and she continued to cry and eventually fell asleep, court records show.

Police went to the hospital to investigate suspected child abuse shortly after 10 p.m. Aug. 17. Medical staff told officers the girl had a severe brain injury, a skull fracture and blood clots that were compressing her brain.

The mother told police the infant fell off her bed. She also said the baby had fallen from the passenger seat of their vehicle to the floorboard a few days before, but she was not present either time.

Medical officials said the baby's injuries weren't consistent with an accidental fall. The parents said the baby was left with their son for more than six hours while they were at work.

Police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said Crystian Rivera first was taken to juvenile detention at the Berry House on a child abuse complaint but was booked on a murder complaint after the baby died.

Graveside services for Linda Beletzuy are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
