Since 2004, the Survival of the Fittest Tournament has been won by a who's who in professional wrestling. Winning this tournament has been a major stepping stone in the careers of some of the biggest names in the industry.

Bryan Danielson was the winner of the inaugural tournament back in 2004 defeating names such as Samoa Joe, Colt Cabana, and Austin Aries. Since then, 7 more tournaments have taken place, and crowned winners Roderick Strong, Delirious, Chris Hero, Tyler Black, Eddie Edwards, current ROH World Champion Michael Elgin, and current ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal.

Seven of the eight Survival of the Fittest winners have gone on to win championship gold in Ring of Honor. Five of the eight champions have gone on to become ROH World Champion. Which makes this tournament the biggest opportunity of the year for young ROH stars.
