So, when Tommy became the White Ranger, did he become the leader? How did the Red Ranger feel about that? I imagine the same way HBK felt about HHH's rise to prominence after his first retirement.

The Red Ranger was always the leader. The White Ranger is just a special ranger. Tommy was always special (when he was green, they only showed him on the second half of an episode)
